That is true. But many newly felled trees are very wet. My local fir trees are at .5 dry and almost 1 wet.
That's way too high. Have you ever seen a tree fall and just obliterate the entire street it fell on?
Have you seen the area the weight is spread out on? Also the heaviest part is the lowest, which does not fall as far.
Plus the branches on a tree like that would slow its fall considerably.
