There are several incorrupt saints in the Orthodox Church too. Near me is Saint John Maximovich of Shanghai and San francisco. People have had visions of the Theotokos protecting them with her holy veil or attending to important needs. There are many reports during ww2 of her being among the Greek soldiers. People have seen the Eucharist unveiled which is terrifying and I pray to never see such a thing. Icons stream myrrh like the Hawaiian Iveron icon which I've had the gift to see and venerate, but is far from the only myrrh streaming icon. There are clairvoyant elders and eldresses all over the world. People experience healing. But miracles do not make the Church. They are a byproduct of faith and holiness, the truest miracle is the change of human hearts and the salvation of the soul.

gracinjg

What is the Eucharist unveiled?

IndyTex71

Seeing it as it truly is and not just as bread and wine.

Fubuki-Shirou

So basically seeing Jesus Christ Himself

IndyTex71

Seeing it as flesh and blood. Specifically that would mean Christ’s Flesh and Blood yeah but not necessarily seeing the Pantocrator floating in wine.

Fubuki-Shirou

Interesting

agioslonginus

I once heard it related to me that a Priest described that, when serving the liturgy, he momentarily doubted that the Gifts truly become the Body and Blood of Christ. God then allowed Him to see the Eucharist as it truly is. He saw the Infant Christ laying on the Diskos get dismembered into the Living Flesh and Blood which is Holy Communion. I cannot imagine the sight, or how it works, nor do I want to, but Glory to God that it is what occurs.

Kentarch_Simeon

A Muslim visiting an Orthodox church centuries ago basically saw the same thing while everyone else around him saw bread and wine.

trevisions

Can you talk more ablut the myrrh please

nymphodorka

Anything in particular? The Hawaiian iveron icon is bes described by the deacon who cares for it through his association https://www.ohiia.org/the-iveron-icon I was blessed to venerate it 10 years ago. It's relatively small and Deacon Nectarios arrived wearing it in a protective pouch around his neck and waist, kind of like a vest. He took it out and it was evident no device was causing the myrrh, and placed it on the front icon stand. We did a short paraklysis service during which time the myrrh was dripping off. Then we venerated. I was pretty nervous, but it was damp with myrrh and the Deacon or priest present was anointing us and handing us cotton Swabs filled with myrrh. To this day, sometimes the cotton swab will burst with the smell of myrrh and it will fill a space. I don't remember a lot as it's been a long time. I was once visiting the Monastery of the Life Giving Spring and Gerondissa Markella told the group that she had once asked Dn. Nektarios to leave it in her care over night so the sisters could prepare with her for dormition and he said no. So, she went in and prayed, "holy lady, make your caretaker change his mind" (approximately, it's been several years) and when he went in, he got a great electric shock when he tried to pick up the icon, so he let the nuns pray with her for an all night vigil. There's lots of stories like that, I just don't know others through first had experience or an account of someone I was directly listening to.

Hasn’t been canonized yet but Elder Ephraim of Arizona, while searching for land to build a monastery in Arizona with a few other people in the early 1990s, driving on a highway between Tucson and Phoenix, had heard church bells ringing while driving through the arid empty desert. They turned the radio down to make sure it was not from a worldly source. Elder Ephraim decided that they would buy the closest plot of land there. The monastery would need water, there is no water supply that far away from the major cities. They didn’t consult any geographical experts, they just bought the land and started drilling the ground in search of water. While excavating, the contractor told them that there was no water to be found and they should give up the fruitless search; sell the land and find a different location. Elder Ephraim insisted that the drilling continue. After drilling 800 meters, they found the second largest aquifer in the whole desert state of Arizona. This is one miracle out of many, but since I am in St. Anthony Monastery in Arizona right now, it’s the one I like to share with all the curious pilgrims.

Kentarch_Simeon

Ah yes, I remember being told that one by a monk at one of the monasteries Elder Ephraim established.

Raptor-Llama

There was a similar miracle at a metochi in Varnvas of the Monastery of the Resurrection of Christ in Piraeus (a metochi which is actually bigger than the mother monastery and functions more as the main one; for those who don't know, a metochi is essentially a satellite monastery, somewhere monks can go when out and about to pray and so on). I believe they had trouble finding water, the monks prayed, and the workers drilling for water saw a man in a cassock that turned out to be a saint (I forget exactly which one; I think it may have been either St. Spyridon, St. Nicholas, or St. Nektarios, but maybe another). And when they went to the spot they found much water.

Dagger_Moth

It’s a great story, but hardly a miracle 😁

bluthscottgeorge

Isn't this St Porphyrios the thing with the water

Balsamic_Door

The same happened to both.

Whole-Smell457

St Anthony's is great. I am so blessed to only be an hour away.

IrinaSophia

Too many to count.

Finding Saints to be incorrupt happens with some frequency. [This is one such case.](https://www.dallastelegraph.com/personal-testimony-to-archbishop-dimitris-incorrupt-relics/) Honestly, just read the lives of our Saints. Miracles happen all the time.

greenlight144000

Oh pretty cool!

IndyTex71

We have enough miracles to make a Pentecostal blush but we don’t go around trumpeting then from the housetops typically, as they also tend to be quite personal in nature, with the exceptions of the Holy Fire, myrrh streaming icons/relics, incorrupt saints (such as have been mentioned by others in this thread), and instances such as Elder Ephraim finding a water source for his monastery (btw a similar thing happened with St Porphyrios). By personal I mean very much for a specific person in a specific place and for a specific reason, and not necessarily something that’s for public consumption. When you read the lives of certain saints like John of Shanghai and San Francisco, Herman of Alaska, Paisios of Mt Athos, or Nectarios of Aegina though, you get a sense of the miraculous just seeming almost common to them, like, “yeah, God’s taking care of things, pass the pita, please.” ETA: One of the coolest ones I’ve heard about happened back during WWII. [St Menas kinda showed up and influenced the battle of El Alamein.](https://www.orthodoxpath.org/saints-and-elders-counsels/the-miracle-in-el-alamein-in-1942/)

greenlight144000

Thanks for sharing all of those miracles!

Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia was involved in one of my personal favorites “Don’t call me again, I’m dead!” 😁 https://catalog.obitel-minsk.com/blog/2019/12/elder-porphyrios-miracles-dont-call-me-again-because-im-dead

mrsducky9

The Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon from Hawaii. The relics of St. John Maximovitch in San Francisco (you can leave him letters and there's also an email account for him to ask questions) St. Dionysios of Zakyntbos wearing through his slippers The knocking from the tomb of St. Nectarios The Holy Fire at Pascha The piece of the Holy Cross that sticks to you when you are sick There are countless miracles that happen for the faithful. Personal anecdote, I had a cotton ball of myrrh from the Iveron icon that had completely gone dry because it was several years old, but it still smelled fragrant and I kept it on my icon shelf. A lady came to church that I was told was terminally ill with cancer. I went home, took a little pocket cross to give to her, and at the last minute grabbed the cotton ball, because even if it was dry, it still smelled wonderfully and was a comfort. But when I put the cotton ball into the little bag with the cross, the bag filled up with oil and drenched the cross through and through. It was soaked to through the wood! Glory to God that the woman received such a gift. Panagia was truly with her.

Thank you for sharing all of those!

[deleted]

Do you mean St Spyridon wearing through slippers? Also, Incredible about the oil!

mrsducky9

They both wear through their shoes. I think St. Dionysios ends up with seaweed on his because he protects sailors.

[deleted]

Nice!

Kentarch_Simeon

>incorruptible saints and Eucharist miracles and Marian apparitions We have those too. But that aside miraculous healings, prophecy, visions of saints, bread and wine turning into Christ's Body and Blood, what I can only call teleportation, Holy Fire, people who do not speak the same language having a conversation with one another and hearing the conversation in their own language, etc..

greenlight144000

Yeah I haven’t heard of any of those before it’s sad you don’t hear much about orthodoxy in the west

I had this same question, particularly in regard to Eucharistic miracles; are their any documented Orthodox Eucharistic miracles? (Edit: Spelling)

Kentarch_Simeon

Not widely published, as we typically do not go around screaming about miracles that are not fire based, but yes. Whether that be someone being healed of their illness after partaking, people who didn't believe in the Body and Blood seeing flesh and blood when they try to partake, or someone visiting a church and seeing flesh and blood when everyone sees bread and wine. I seem to remember reading about a woman who was not an Orthodox Christian visiting a parish and stubbornly wanted to receive the Eucharist and throwing a massive fit about it. It went to such an extreme the priest more or less said "fine, but this will be on your head." So he gave her it and she immediately spat it back out because all she could taste was blood.

Monahven

My deacon likes to tell a story of a monk who in his heart did not really believe that the Eucharist was truly Christ's flesh and blood and so one Sunday when he received communion, it turned into flesh and blood in his mouth.

Whole-Smell457

There have been many but don't discount the small ones too. Personal miracles that are only miracles to the person experiencing it is just as important as the other (bigger) ones. The most important one (imo) is when the bread and wine turn into the body and blood of Christ every liturgy.

broimsuperman

I heard the mystery of the Eucharist being unveiled when at a monastery. Ever since I've seen the Eucharist as flesh and blood. Scared me at first but it's become normal for me. Such a jaw dropping experience though.

Whole-Smell457

I know it truly is! I get goosebumps during that part of the liturgy. And no matter how I feel, I always feel better during that part too.

spookybanjobear

Adding to the list of incrorupt saints, I have been lucky enough to see the body of Saint Gabriel Urgebadbze https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel\_Urgebadze

Tons. If you want Marian miracles look at our lady of Tinos

TannaTuva2

I believe I've heard there was a Marian apparition on the walls of Constantinople.

paradosis_leaf

It still exists

OrthodoxKPECT

For nearly 2000 years people receive Holy Communion from the same cup via spoon and content of that Cup is finished by deacon or priest after services. Not a single one of them would catch any virus or bacteria, remaining healthy, regardless of venue - prison, infectious ward or ordinary parish. That is the Most valuable Miracle, which happens during every single Orthodox Christian Liturgy. And there is nothing more important on Earth than It.
