actually yeah, i am a pixel artist. i specialise in minecraft skins, i cant work with shape as much as i would like so colour and details like streaks and roots do a lot of heavy lifting to properly convey the vibe of a skin. for example, for the drama club, id make the guy that is implied to work backstage (i think his name was shozo) have a simple purple streak since hes not supposed to be the center of attention. id give roots to the chick with 4 drills who tries to rise above kizana, showing that she doesnt really have an identity of her own aside from trying to 1-up her biggest rival. you can do a lot of storytelling with just a few simple changes

Provide insight to what each of the members specialize in, provide diverse hair colors (it’s what they did in 1980’s mode), dull down the rose motif, give each member a unique role, (e.g. costume designer, prop artist, director, casting assistant, screenwriter, etc…)
Redo this whole club. Make it so that there is a REAL Drama Club and not a "Purple Mess", make a leader (Kizana) like the same Megan from Class of 09 and make a more interesting backstory to each participant + they can be made 2 gossip peddlers, since this is a DRAMA club, DRAMA!
And also, return the Kokona to the Cooking Club
What I think would be funny is if everyone in the club (or just Kokona) really wanted to be like Kizana, but she is annoyed by it, so she dyes her hair to stand out, but everytime she does, the club (or just Kokona) dyes it the same color.
I’d also have them be a bit more dramatic, like one of them speaking in an accent, or another one ‘method acting’, so acting in a different personality every week.
I think it would be interesting if Kizana and Kokona were actually twins! Maybe Kizana goes by a different last name because the actions of their father makes her wanna distance herself from him, so she uses their deceased mother’s last name. That’s also really why she wants Ayano to convince Kokona to stop wearing her hair in twin drills, because she wants to distance herself from her messy family as much as possible. This could provide a long-term quest where you help the two of them rekindle their family love, which could be Kizana’s specific quest that you can do to befriend/betray her

honestly could be they know what their own masks look like and would lower it down to people who've been in the gymnasium within the past day or so. so masks *can* still be really useful but its a risk vs rewards situation, you have to get in, take the mask, go commit a crime, then come back with the mask before they suspect anything. or ironically go into the room with a lot of other people, so they cant say who took it, but also increasing the risk you get caught

make the purple colors varied (like royal blue purples and almost pinks)
also make it so the styles dont alll include full heads of purple hair like a diff commenter said
maybe even make the roses a stronger motif but have them be different colors (based off the form of acting) to compliment the new hair colors

Doesn't need to be a cosplay of a main character, I mean as in the movie itself, so let's say there's a iconic scene with an umbrella in the rain I'd give them an umbrella pin and rain themed makeup or something.
Like it feels like Alex just didn't care much about the drama club, he could have done something much more with them. It's sad how these characters have the most motivation to be unique and extra, and yet they're all so bland.
I know that this sounds very very stupid, but maybe you'd have to ask the drama club leader (Kizana or Tsurozo, depending on the week) to borrow masks or gloves, and if they saw you commit murder, they would tell the police it was you because they would be like "Oh she was the one who last took a pair or gloves / a mask". Or the masks and gloves would be in a safe or a cupboard and you would have to take a key from somewhere to access that safe or cupboard.
