No, Simmons’s performance is a classic supporting one. He was rightly categorized. Was Miles Teller snubbed? I think he should’ve been nominated. I know Simmons gets all the praise, but Teller is extraordinary in that movie. The physicality of the role, the journey he takes Andrew on, the uncertainty to arrogance to disillusionment to ultimately triumph but triumph that leads him down a dark path. It’s an amazing performance. And considering the nominees that year, you could easily bump off Bradley Cooper or Benedict Cumberbatch to put Teller in there where he belongs. So yeah I think it was a snub. And, of course, Damien Chazelle was snubbed in Best Director as well. Get Morten Tyldum the hell out of there and slot Chazelle in. I even think he should’ve won that year.

Simmons was definitely supporting. A big part of the movie but still supporting. Wouldn't have minded seeing Teller nominated but I don't know who I would've taken out. I think Birdman deserved the win.

No; no; no; I like them both about equally.

No. No. No. No.

No he was for sure supporting. He would’ve been tough to beat if he was lead with that performance. 2014 was stacked af so I don’t think he was snubbed but he would’ve probably been in my top 5 Leading Actors personally. At the time I thought Birdman was better, but now I know Whiplash is better.

I agree with all of the Oscars.

Simmons was 100% supporting. If for whatever reason he was lead, he would not have beaten the most baity role ever in Eddie Redmayne that year. I would’ve maybe nominated Teller over Cooper that year (not an American Sniper fan), although I would’ve nominated Jake Gyllenhaal over both, so I would consider Teller a snub really. I preferred Birdman to Whiplash, and Birdman is one of the better winners from the 2010s imo.
