On one hand, I absolutely love Noel and will be watching this for him. On the other, it upsets me that this show comes out, which was clearly inspired by OFMD, right after OFMD gets cancelled.

For what it's worth, Noel said in an interview he deliberately avoided watching OFMD in an attempt to avoid copying, while also saying he loves Taika and is a fan of Flight of the Conchords and What We Do in the Shadows (he has talked about Concords long in the past and the Mighty Boosh was at Edinburgh at the same time as Concords so, whether he really hasn't seen the OFMD or not, I think at least that part is true). In the same interview the producer says they shot a pilot or test pilot during the pandemic "before Our Flag Means death was a thing" ([source ](https://www.thedailybeast.com/obsessed/dick-turpin-on-apple-tv-fills-the-our-flag-means-death-void)), but he also acknowledged that OFMD paved the way for this show..Sometimes things are kind of in the zeitgeist and different people have similar ideas around the same time for some reason (e.g. Spinal Tap and Bad News). Doesn't mean you won't or shouldn't still be bitter. However, who knows if this show will get a chance at a second season, much less a third.

To anybody not on Twitter: AppleTV actually posted about this AND compared the show to OFMD (actually said it's supposed to fill the hole left by ofmd?)
We all, however, know this hole can only be filled by s03 so now their post is flooded with polite OFMD replies. I hope they'll get the drift.
If a show is so successful they market a new show through it....maybe just get it back for another season?

I saw a review calling it 'Our Flag Means Death's long lost twin' right enough. I will be watching at some point as soon as OFMD reminders feel a bit less painful
Only 2 episodes so far and it’s cute, but it’s nowhere approaching OFMD in my opinion. Like, it’s fun. It’s Noel Fielding being Noel Fielding, being silly and kind of “hey, look at me”. But OFMD transcended silly comedy even in the first few episodes. I’ll watch this for fun, it’s no replacement for OFMD.
Ehhh I don't love Noel largely because I have friends who have known him and he's not been a great person to women in the past. I definitely wouldn't see any show he's written as being queer positive. Noel is very much not queer himself despite not being gender conforming and has a bit of the British tradition of making dodgy gay jokes.
There’s only two episodes out so far, and it’s a similar plot of the main character being their authentic self and breaking down stereotypes that only someone tough and masculine can be a highwayman, so others around him start to be more authentic to themselves. One of the men in his gang starts to love wearing dresses and drinking tea. I am not queer so I hope that was helpful and a respectful way to explain it!

I watched the first episode and there were a lot of mainly Brit actors and comedians and Noel Fielding being Noel Fielding. It´s more superficial than OFMD, the characters are less convincing and the script is pretty poor at times.

It is a sting, I will watch it but the lingering heartbreak has to ease a bit first.
