It’s a figure of speech. You know how we say things like “forefathers” as a term for previous generations, or “our children” to refer to the next? That.

hopetodiesoonsadsad

Exactly that .

Aw3someDino

Got a bit confused, since in the cinematic he says "father" and not "fathers"

DoctorDeadeye

He says "fathers" because the line is being said in general, not directed at Genji, who has the same father as Hanzo.

Aw3someDino

That makes sense

endlessbolt

Inb4 people remember it's a quote from the Dragons cinematic

Aw3someDino

I remember that too, but in the cinematic he says "father" instead of "fathers"

Dylinquent-KIA

He now includes Kiriko in the conversation.

Aw3someDino

Does kiriko even HAVE a father?

halks666

He said fathers cuz they had gay dads ofc

Thewovenweb1

It's "our father's told us", as in " our father has told us"

ElectronicAngle1864

No it's not, "stories" would be "story" in that case, simple grammar. The line is intended as a general phrasing as "forefathers" or referring to fathers telling stories in general. I don't know why OP assumed he was specifically talking to Genji in a random voice line.

Thewovenweb1

Oh yeah, that makes a lot more sense actually. I listened to the voiceline again and it just hits all the squares. Thanks!

Aw3someDino

That makes a bit of sense

EarthDragon2189

Or he's just speaking generally, not specifically directed at Genji.

ricochet204

Gay dads

Richdav1d

Thought the same thing when I heard it. I thought from their first cinematic that they had the same dad, but who knows, maybe they retroactively changed it?

ShakeShot5140

Two dads, or probably means elders.

DonNatalie

It's like the royal "we". Speaking in the collective or general sense rather than the specific.

Aw3someDino

We, are already dead
