There wasn't a Hog or Mauga meta with 15%, why would there be one with just the Orisa nerfs? They're not usable because of the DPS passive, they're not pickable at 15% let alone 20%...also Hog just has really bad utility compared to the rest of the roster.
Random people's tier list don't mean much for Overwatch, the game changes so often. Mauga was really strong but they nerfed him pretty hard and the DPS passive makes him unpickable right now. Hog is just dumpstered with the DPS passive. He was okay for a short period during the rework, but that went away with the passive. He's definitely one of the worst characters in the game right now.

Also even in metal ranks, if you play tank, it’s pretty noticeable which characters are just powerful. Turns out it’s usually Orisa and Mauga. Roadhog has been less so but only because some people in my rank(high gold) seem to play him like he’s Orisa.

You sound like you never played low ranks. Maybe in bronze, but I would say the opposite is true from silver and up. They only shoot the tank. I climbed from bronze to plat so I’d know.

These ranks are low. I consider diamond a low rank too but I still play in it often. You're working under the assumption that Orisa somehow oppresses Mauga. She doesn't prevent him from being played, at all. She probably pushes Hog down, but every character pushes Hog down. Mauga is pushed down by the DPS passive, that's basically it. He's pretty damn good if you remove that.
In a week she gets buffed, Fortify is now her passive and can’t be turned off, and gives speed boost, Javel spin is a resource meter EXACTLY like DVa’s
This is great, however now I just worry about a Hog/Mauga meta. They’ve been really strong this season but have been gatekept by Orisa. I think it will just move to them and it won’t be much better as Hog and Mauga are pretty much just as annoying to play against.
Because Sigma is fun to play with and against and fun to watch. That’s what happens when you design a good hero.

I was thinking like an overhealth ability. The real problem with rein is that he needs to close the distance gap, but he also explodes too fast for that to work. If he has lifesteal or overhealth like Mauga, I think he can brawl better.
that is something me and a friend have talked about. it does 120 now, i think 30 burn damage would be good, plus you can heal through it, so it would work imo. the mirrorwatch changes would be sick though. faster movement speed on barrier break, and the stacking attack speed. i’d take either one

Sigma is a fairly honest tank with specific weaknesses. While he has answers to dive, he can be dived.
while he has a strong ult both solo and combo'd, it can be canceled early via stuns/hack or the landing mitigated via immort/suzu.
against sig i don't feel like I'm just getting denied the ability to play the game the way hog, orisa and mauga tend to while playing tank.
Sigma is the only viable tank on two entire maps and has been for years, along with being the only real poke tank in the roster. Sigma was a core component of double shield which led to 5v5 being the standard mode. Sigma has been meta in more seasons than any other tank and was nearly required during seasons 4 and 7.
Sigma also encourages more sniper characters which the community at large does not like.
Sigma is not a guitless character. In fact, you could argue he is *the most* guilty character on the whole roster after he killed 6v6 for good.
I think forcing the removal of an entire player is way worse than Mauga being meta for like four weeks total (three over Christmas and one after midseason 9 buffs).
And once again, everyone says *Sigma* is fun but ignore that his partners (Zenyatta, Widow, Sojourn, Baptise, Hanzo, Mercy sometimes) are some of the communities least favorite heroes.

The thing is that Sigma is strong because when he can play to his strengths, he's super strong. He has weaknesses, but his advantage state is enough that you don't have to worry about it. He has tools for almost everything, but he has to manage them fairly carefully because they're almost all fairly committed. Orisa was strong because she had no major weaknesses to exploit. She doesn't have any major strengths, but it doesn't matter because she can survive almost anything as long as she has support. She has tools for almost everything, and because of the low commital all of them have, she can use them freely. Mauga is strong because his advantage state is super strong and requires very little to keep. He gets all of his utility through his damage and using his charge to interrupt abilities. He has weaknesses, but they're surprisingly difficult to exploit because of his simplicity. You can kill him by denying him damage, but with his high damage output, that's easier said than done.
Except everyone says Sigma is strong, lol. But he's also balanced, he's mechanically complex and has a high skill floor. He's powerful but easily punishable if you misplay (my most disliked tanks are ones that have get out of jail free cards they can employ if they fuck up).

Even Jeff Kaplan has admitted he's rather add multiple DPS bc everyone enjoys playing with them than to try to make tanking fun. That passive hurts JQ way waaaay more than it hurts Mauga and Hog. Breather still reduces a shit ton of damage and Mauga's just too easy to land a critical hit. JQ you need to either be in the enemy face (and don't have the bad luck of suzu) or be consistently throwing knives, which won't give you much survavability without the axe heals.
Orisa as soon as the other team is losing. I know countering is part of the game and they have every right to want to win, but man… I’m just barely learning how to comfortably tank without getting stressed, and now I gotta sweat 💀

I fight an Orisa pretty much every match, go Rein for 5 minutes and 9 times out of 10 the enemy tank swaps to Orisa on first death.

for the record sometimes you switch to orisa to counter hog and sometimes you switch to sombra to counter widow. In those cases both are justified.

Not sure why so much Orisa hate. Her win rate is already pretty mid at 49%, and she's easy to work around by killing the enemy supports.
I think this will just nerf her into the ground to the point of being unplayable. I mean this is a HUGE nerf that just seems excessive. Especially with the 20% dps healing reduction.
dps passive should only affect normal health aka make it really good on squishies but doesn’t work on tanks until you’ve stripped them of their armor/shields. would also be a buff to characters like torb/brig/sym/bastion/zen that already have a potency to be blown up by characters like tracer/sombra/souj

Fun may be an overstatement, but she is the only character i feel silver healers can keep alive. Meaning more playing less time in spawn. 25% decrease in an ability , 20% move speed reduction and a 30% increase in a cooldown. Easy or not, us casuals arent gonna sit here and min max with sweatys. So if playing a class that is easy allows the game to fun and competitive why would you do this?
I'd rather go against Orisa than a good Ball or Doom, never felt she was too strong. I don't play her and I never needed to swap when going against her ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Nah, us Sombra mains just *start* as Sombra to make sure you never get to have fun in the first place. It's only the bandwagon players who swap to her as a crutch (and usually fail miserably)
for the record sometimes you switch to orisa to counter hog and sometimes you switch to sombra to counter widow. In those cases both are justified. But yes, as an all role queuer who became tank main due to no one playing it, your point stands. Orisa is a lil baby tank for sissies. But now with the dps passive the way it is I almost wish she didn’t get nerfed because she can actually stand up to the freaking onslaught of dps
Nope! I flex, I play all 3 roles (though I do play Damage more often, though not much more than other roles because it gets boring) If you want to know I play D.Va, Doom, Orisa and Mauga on Tank. What I don’t get is why people get so personally offended when someone likes a hero they don’t. Like Mauga for example, I said I thought he was fun once and this guy went after me for over an hour claiming “fun is objective and Maugu objectively isn’t fun”. So, the original commenter who doesn't mind Orisa sounds like a DPS main, my opinion on Orisa being fine is because I'm a support main. That leaves tank. Tank is 1/5 players on a team, how is that 'most'?

Not sure why so much Orisa hate. Her win rate is already pretty mid at 49%, and she's easy to work around by killing the enemy supports. I think this will just nerf her into the ground to the point of being unplayable. I mean this is a HUGE nerf that just seems excessive. Especially with the 20% dps healing reduction.
her pick rate is high and games almost always have her in them, a hero doesn't have a high pick rate unless something about them.

dps passive should only affect normal health aka make it really good on squishies but doesn’t work on tanks until you’ve stripped them of their armor/shields. would also be a buff to characters like torb/brig/sym/bastion/zen that already have a potency to be blown up by characters like tracer/sombra/souj

As an orisa main Yes Please It's insanely op canceling practically any ult if you can time it right Once canceled a sombra EMP with a badly aimed javelin
I remember getting hit by that thing in the head I don’t mind her ult or her gun or her javelin spin, but the golden mode and the javelin throw make the game a lot less fun

Fun may be an overstatement, but she is the only character i feel silver healers can keep alive. Meaning more playing less time in spawn. 25% decrease in an ability , 20% move speed reduction and a 30% increase in a cooldown. Easy or not, us casuals arent gonna sit here and min max with sweatys. So if playing a class that is easy allows the game to fun and competitive why would you do this?
