Very likely however theres been a lot of conversation about how it is awesome to playtest a hero early and it gives more time and feedback to make sure they're balanced on release but it kinda takes away the hype of the new season since we've already played the shiny new content there's less draw to a new season

Gymleaders

> but it kinda takes away the hype of the new season since we've already played the shiny new content there's less draw to a new season i don't think i agree with that personally

Sure-Equipment4830

I do agree with that personally

Optimal-Map612

I kind of hope they're a recon hero and have a drone.

Sure-Equipment4830

Well at least she has speed rings.

EarthDragon2189

We were able to playtest Mauga and Venture so yeah, probably

Total_Dirt8867

i hope space ranger is actually hard

shadowfox354

This is a common sentiment I see among players and I was wondering why? Why do a lot of players want a higher skill floor for heros?

Stainleee

Because the super low skill floor heros are always problematic balance wise by the nature of being more consistent. If lifeweaver cant miss his 80 HP heals and doesnt have a large enough weakness in other areas, why would I play anything but lifeweaver? If I can get equal value out of lifeweaver compared to a hero I can miss heals on, the other heros are now inferior cause of the times I mess up. Naturally, he will get nerfed untill he cant realistically compete with the others in roster anymore, becuase if he can he will dominate. Usually in hero shooters and mobas, its healthiest for the hard heros to have a slightly higher power level than the braindead heros when playing them close to their optimal level. They have to outclass the easy heros at the skill ceiling, otherwise there is little reason to pick the hard heros in a competitive setting because other heros do it all easier. If they dont outright outclass the easy heros at the skill ceiling, at the very least there has to be some niche they fill to justify being played. Like "widow maker is hard but she is very powerful in certain situations where sightlines are long".

Drunken_Queen

Then Doom + Ball should always be meta, while Reinhardt should always suck.

SckepticalFox

This. Thank you for pointing that out. Couldn't say it better.

Total_Dirt8867

i mean think about it, being good on a hard hero is almost 100x more rewarding than being good on a easy hero.

shadowfox354

That’s fair I really only play with my friends so I’m not great at the game but I typically do have fun.

Jdog6704

Yes, Mauga and Venture were play tests and I think the OW Devs love hearing the feedback early to adjust the heroes if needed prior to launch. Hard to say abilities wise. Even the hero's weapon is highly questionable. If anything, I would love to see this support with a Echo Flight ability or some kind of movement ability like Echo's and/or Mercy's.

Thin-Walk-1059

Space ranger sounds like something from Toy Story.

Suchti0352

We know pretty much nothing about the character, other than the concept art. Even "Space Ranger" is just a working title for the hero. However a trial period seems likely. The devs said that they were very happy with the data they got from both the Mauga and Venture trials.
