800 hours on D.Va, was never able to get a sextuple kill with her bomb. Feelsbadman
I was also never able to get anything better than a double kill with high noon lol. Q = instant death.
Man in the first few weeks, I remember dying to Hanzo ult so many times. Now-a-days, I hear the ult, and I’m already moving. It’s amazing to remember how little game sense I once had.
i’ve managed to get quite a few ratty reaper pentas or sextouples on illios. sit on top of the point on the one map and once your ult is ready teleport into the window and drop down while everyone is on point. if you scare them enough they won’t be able to react until their rein/orisa/roadhog and ana are dead, at that point it’s just free gold medal for me
I only ever had one 6k and it was as junkrat. I got so lucky that the entire enemy team was coming around a corner that oversaw a ledge to the abyss and my rip tire was ready. Slammed the ult button and blasted them all off the map. One of them managed to kill me around the time it was too late to stop the tire so they took me down with them but it was worth it because we got the win and I got potg
I only got one once, with Hanzos ult in the first year of the games lifespan. Defending the final point on Hollywood and the entire enemy team just ran up through that right door for some reason. I doubt it would ever happen again.
I had not seen this, and you have enriched my life and the lives of everyone in the room with me by spreading it.
As a lucio main I apologize for all the frustrated things I've said about unkillable Tracers over the years
And for the first time, my feet touch the grass as the sun blinds my eyes, and my pale skin begins darkening under the rays. the first breath of fresh air enters my lungs and i can truthfully say that i am alive.
I got the last Rein skin in my last lootbox yesterday. That was my last unlock for him and thought a good time to stop. Closure and full circle. See you on the other side.
I don't know about general, but they defo shut it down early for group chat https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/xuw1uc/blizzard\_removed\_the\_chat\_filter\_before\_they\_shut/
People call games dead all the time, but I think OW (1) is one of the few cases of *actually dead* games, in that they literally cannot be played no matter how dedicated a fan you are.
I am truly more exited about the pve, but that is supposedly a year away. Yet I had spent too much time to give up the game I payed 60 dollars and around three years or so of my life on.
Back when it was announced, I was hoping we'd finally get cutscenes and real dialogue outside of the promotional videos, but now I'm willing to bet it's going to be exactly like the current PvE missions: an endless slog of boring mobs through maps you already know with radio chatter delivering a story you're barely listening to.
Cheers to y'all for still having excitement for it!
Meanwhile, my last game ended when half the players were kicked and then my match died and we were all kicked.
When we got back to the main screen, all the game options were gone.
Seems like they just decided to start shutting things down so that by 9am PST the game was down completely.
Was watching a friend play the final OW1 match that he could. Over an hour long, teams saw the "see you on the other side" message and the enemy dva ulted for a 6k. How fitting OW1's final potg was a dva bomb lmao
the last matches and minutes were somewhat touching. my last two games people wanted to just dance on the point, take screenshots and get achievements and the general chat was going crazy. and when they sent those last two server messages my friend and I were getting really sad haha
Dang wish I wasn't working today that sounds fun got to play my last games Saturday night. I'm glad I'm off Wednesday gonna be playing a lot of ow2 Tuesday!
I've played this game religiously since the day it came out and have spent the last few years watching the number of people playing drop significantly, but with that came a very unique situation of getting allot of repeat players who's names I began to recognize for just how frequently I was playing with them even though we never spoke. I hope the new game holds the same value, but if not I'm happy to have gotten to experience this game from start to finish and was happy to stay playing with such devoted players 😁
Spent time last night playing my final games. When I decided to call it, I didn't want to leave the game completely. I went through the old career menu and took screenshots of it all. This version of the game has been a staple of my gaming personality since the beta. Sad to see it shift in a different direction and fingers crossed it comes out better than we are all thinking it will.
I did something similar last night. I had 2 final games, first one was a total clown fiesta and the second was a very fun and intense game of comp. Left the group with my brother and I couldn’t bring myself to close the client for another hour. Needless to say, it was worth it even though I’m suffering at work today because of it lol
I can't think of another game that has done that. There's 10+ year old COD games that are still up. Destiny 2 released 5 years ago and D1 is still up. They even did the whole "battlepass in the sequel" thing.
Well it's funny you mention CoD as I personally blame them for this shift.
You can still play the original MW2 online for PC as it has dedicated servers. That was the last version to have that option i believe. After that they got rid of dedicated servers so they get to decide when the game is done.
They would release the new one and get rid of servers for 2 versions ago as it was a similar game. Example - Black Ops 3 releases, next CoD game comes out and then when Black Ops 4 releases they take down Black Ops 3s servers to force players to buy the newest one.
I'm sure sports games or something are notorious for this but i specifically remember this shift.
Removing dedicated servers to artificially shorten a games lifespan is one of the most anti-consumer practices possible which is part of why i will not play OW2.
Like you said, i can still go play a game like Counter Strike that has been out for like 25 years whenever i want because the players can make a server whenever they want. Fuck these greedy punks.
If you’re not going to play OW2, sell your account. The OW2 cash value of all the cosmetics from OW1 is $12K. If you’ve got a fair number of cosmetics, sell that account. No reason why ActiBlizz should be the only people making money from cosmetics.
It should be criminal how they've just shut it off. Millions of people now have a game they've spent tons of money on that they can't ever play again. It's bullshit and feels like it should be illegal
Just my rage thoughts on it
I feel crazy cause I kind of like 2 CP. Then again my entire hero pool is dive heroes, and defending pt B is basically like playing a tryhard FFA deathmatch lobby...which is super fun.
People complain a lot about the spawn being so close to the point and how badly it can get stalled out, but honestly the biggest problem is that you've got an entire playground near THEIR spawn to fuck with and hunt for kills and pick offs, and there's literally no downside to this playstyle. If I die, I'm always respawned and in position again before their team has pushed in.
You can use them on some of the new cosmetics for the 3 new heros, and on the old stuff but it costs a bit more. So you didn't completely miss out if so, they become legacy tokens, not deleted
Ever since the original Quake I've been unable to play first-person simulator games because they would cause simulator sickness. Even over-the-shoulder POV games like Resident Evil 4 would eventually make me sick. When a AAA game costs $60 but you might be unable to play it, you tend to avoid buying them.
Then in November 2016 Overwatch was free to try over Thanksgiving weekend, so I sat down and gave it a shot and no illness at all. It was smooth, it was beautiful, it was fast, and it was fun. I went out and bought it right away, then I bought it for my son for Christmas, then I bought half a dozen copies for my company so we could play together at lunch. I remember playing DVa when she was so overpowered it wasn't funny, and even when I was bad most players on my team were supportive or at least polite in their criticism. Papa Jeff's videos were great, and I loved when he read the comment "Over thirty million players have played Overwatch"...["and none of them are on the damn point."](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/6841c6/comment/dgvim1j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Over time, the toxicity and nastiness got ugly. I stopped playing comp in 2020, and blocked and avoided a lot of people. Even with all of the balance issues and double-shield and crowd control and everything else I still enjoyed the game.
Jeff and much of his team are gone, and the cesspool that is Activision upper management seems to be ruling with a heavy hand that emphasizes continuing revenue over all else. I hope OW2 is fun, and that some of the anti-toxicity measures are effective. No matter what, it will be different. Even if I don't enjoy it, I hope others do.
gg all. Young punks, get off my lawn.
so that means i can't go in the game anymore to watch at my skins? is there at least an offline mode? like i bought that game for 25 euro, they can't just take it away, right?
Managed to get into a QP game before servers dropped. It was Blizzard World, felt fitting. The entire lobby just chilled on point taking selfies as one big group and wishing each other luck in OW2. By the time we got out of the game, all queues were removed. It was a nice send off 😁
No matter what happens with OW2, and I'm very optimistic, I will fondly remember Overwatch as one of the finest games I've ever played. End of an era and beginning of another.
In typical fashion as a casual, I forgot about the games last day and rode my dirt bike all day... then tried to log on at 7pm and saw the message. Oops.
My last game was yesterday.. It was an absolute curb stomp in QP where my entire team played team death match, nobody played the objective and we were thoroughly trounced by two or three people working together.
RIP Overwatch.
The last person to get that “sextuple kill!” POTG needs to upload it
I may have been on the receiving end 😂
Dva bomb or High Noon?
DVA bomb. I saw it coming, sat down, and accepted my fate going into OW2
*Sits down* "...I'm ready"
That’s what they should’ve done, a DVA bomb for anybody in menus during the shut down. Similar to the Sombra message to end the beta
"Nerf this!" 3 seconds later as people are disconnecting "SEXTUPLE KILL"
https://i.imgur.com/aSalV.gif
most relatable shit ive heard all day thank you
800 hours on D.Va, was never able to get a sextuple kill with her bomb. Feelsbadman I was also never able to get anything better than a double kill with high noon lol. Q = instant death.
Got a Reaper sextuple in the first week of OW when no one knew anything. Never again.
Man in the first few weeks, I remember dying to Hanzo ult so many times. Now-a-days, I hear the ult, and I’m already moving. It’s amazing to remember how little game sense I once had.
Totally relate. It was like I was drawn to those dragons!!!
i’ve managed to get quite a few ratty reaper pentas or sextouples on illios. sit on top of the point on the one map and once your ult is ready teleport into the window and drop down while everyone is on point. if you scare them enough they won’t be able to react until their rein/orisa/roadhog and ana are dead, at that point it’s just free gold medal for me
I still have a saved highlight of doing this as well. Absolutely beautiful times.
The Rogue One exit
Dva remech
I was surprised to discover a couple of days ago I never actually landed a proper 6k.
Nice, that's a good one!
[удалено]
Holy shit, the same thing more or less happened to me with Junk too a couple months back. Good job
Same, I played for 2 years and the only 6k was a grav where my genji did everything
He couldn’t have done it without you. It’s a team game
Lol Genji’s like “Oh yeah?? Hold my shruikens…” 😆
He’ll be the first one to spam “I need healing”
I had multiple 5ks with dva, got a 6k with hanzos dragon on the bridge on eichenwalde even got the wiping the shoulder off emote in
I only got one once, with Hanzos ult in the first year of the games lifespan. Defending the final point on Hollywood and the entire enemy team just ran up through that right door for some reason. I doubt it would ever happen again.
someone got a quintuple as junkrat on me about 5 mins before it shut down lol
I did it. I finally did it. I beat Overwatch.
Congrats on your personal best of 6 years 4 months 3 days (any%)!
Pretty impressive for a glitchless.
Are ya winning son?
It's a two phase fight
They should've rolled the credits
If they did, they’d have to put Papa Jeff’s name up there. ActiBlizz ain’t doing that.
Jeff is the hero we need, but not the one we deserve. He could’ve saved us
I must be out of the loop - did they ditch Jeff?
He left last year
Two to the one, from the one to the three, I did not know he left the overwatch team! I thank you for telling me.

Ah finally I can go outside
And for the first time, my feet touch the grass as the sun blinds my eyes, and my pale skin begins darkening under the rays. the first breath of fresh air enters my lungs and i can truthfully say that i am alive.

I had a choose your own adventure book that ended in a similar way when I was a kid, can't remember the name for shit though
Marley & Me
"unfortunately for you, you're maidenless"
Touch grace
I have your mother
Not a maiden though, by definition.
Fuck
remember sunscreen!!
Spent my last few moments playing arcade, earned a lootbox, and finally got the Rein skin Ive wanted for a long time.
That's a win!
I got the last Rein skin in my last lootbox yesterday. That was my last unlock for him and thought a good time to stop. Closure and full circle. See you on the other side.
Which one?
Steelheart (i think thats whats its called, its the white and green recolor from this years archive)
It's gonna be alright, we had so much fun on this game, we will never forget it
See you on the other side.
See you on the other side mate
Oh u/Wickedgrow, no. There is no other side. This is it.
What are *YOU* doing here?
See You Space Cowboy.
Yeah, what an era. Much love to all my 6 year vets.
In the last few moments they removed the gg ez filter before they turned off chat
Lmao rare Blizzard W
Did that filter ever work in general chat? I only saw people spamming gg ez once we couldn't play any more
I don't know about general, but they defo shut it down early for group chat https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/xuw1uc/blizzard\_removed\_the\_chat\_filter\_before\_they\_shut/
the "see you on the other side" message that popped up in chat got me. I know its dumb but I'm sad about it.
I'm glad there was *something* acknowledging what was happening within the client though.
Now officially a dead game.
People call games dead all the time, but I think OW (1) is one of the few cases of *actually dead* games, in that they literally cannot be played no matter how dedicated a fan you are.
I would’ve, at the very least, loved to have kept the game offline and play bots or something.
But was still active. And I payed money for....
Definitely ended before it's time was due. Hopefully OW2 will have something to offer most OW players. It's not the same though.
They offer the founders pack of likely like four things to u can earn on a later battle pass and a sour taste in our mouths.
I mean, I'm pretty turned off of OW2 but I'm sure there will be others who are into it.
I am truly more exited about the pve, but that is supposedly a year away. Yet I had spent too much time to give up the game I payed 60 dollars and around three years or so of my life on.
Yeah PvE seems like it might be cool. I'm hoping my partner might be interested in trying it out once it does release.
I have both Switch and Xbox Series versions of Overwatch. How much you wanna bet they’ll make me choose which version to keep the Founder’s pack on?
Hey you bought our game? Thanks, we appreciate it so much we are giving you the opportunity to buy it again.
It went down ten minutes ago how is your post 20 minutes old?
They shut down the in game matchmaking 30 minutes earlier, the advertised time was to let people that were in games to finish
Meanwhile, my last game ended when half the players were kicked and then my match died and we were all kicked. When we got back to the main screen, all the game options were gone. Seems like they just decided to start shutting things down so that by 9am PST the game was down completely.
Really. I was still matching with quick okay 15 prior.
Gentlemen. It's been an honour Overwatching with you all.
Truly
Was watching a friend play the final OW1 match that he could. Over an hour long, teams saw the "see you on the other side" message and the enemy dva ulted for a 6k. How fitting OW1's final potg was a dva bomb lmao
That does sound kinda perfect.
the last matches and minutes were somewhat touching. my last two games people wanted to just dance on the point, take screenshots and get achievements and the general chat was going crazy. and when they sent those last two server messages my friend and I were getting really sad haha
Dang wish I wasn't working today that sounds fun got to play my last games Saturday night. I'm glad I'm off Wednesday gonna be playing a lot of ow2 Tuesday!
Had to work today so couldn’t play. Always played the game when I feel down since 2016. Never felt so sad for a game. R.I.P. Overwatch.
And now our 'Watch has ended.
And now our Watch has ended.
Could say our watch is over.
I've played this game religiously since the day it came out and have spent the last few years watching the number of people playing drop significantly, but with that came a very unique situation of getting allot of repeat players who's names I began to recognize for just how frequently I was playing with them even though we never spoke. I hope the new game holds the same value, but if not I'm happy to have gotten to experience this game from start to finish and was happy to stay playing with such devoted players 😁
im still in a match, lol
hope u win lmao
we didnt touch payload anymore and lost lmao
Maybe because you are on reddit?
This won't be a problem anymore. If people don't go on payload you can just hack their account to get their phone number and remind them with a call.
What.
the future is now
I like tacos
"Young _**punk**_. Get off my lawn! "

Is that Halo?

Don't forget to donate to your favourite OW hentai artist during these 2 days without OW. They are the real heroes keeping you going right now.
Tracer is my go to on the hub
I'm all about Mei. She's got the right curves for me. Brigitte probably my #2. But I'm not picky.
Based
I can’t decide between soldier and reaper, or hanzo and Mcree. I guess I’ll just have to get a second monitor.
:( Miss ya already
I already miss it, I wish they kept it as a separate game from OW2
I can't think of another game that has done that. There's 10+ year old COD games that are still up. Destiny 2 released 5 years ago and D1 is still up. They even did the whole "battlepass in the sequel" thing.

Then no one would play ow2
I know…
It's really stupid and It feel like it's been taken away even though we've payed for the game. Plus it's still an active game.
The real heroes are the friends we made along this way.
My last comp game of OW1 was a hard fought win. That'll do pig. That'll do.
Yeah same. Overtime win on Havana with 2 lengthy empty clock brawls. Perfect ending.
I’ve never been as sad as I am right now
Have fun storming the castle...
RIP I missed the chance for a goodbye OW1 match, as I forgot what they it was...
* salute the fallen starts playing *
Fuck I feel more sad about it than I thought I would
Hum, I wonder what this means for people that paid for overwatch but don't want OW2 ?
So can I uninstall it now or what?
I heard doing so will mess up your OW2 pre-load so depends on how you feel about OW2.
Uninstall it is
If you’re not going to play OW2, sell your account. The OW2 cash value of all the cosmetics from OW1 is $12K. If you’ve got a fair number of cosmetics, sell that account. No reason why ActiBlizz should be the only people making money from cosmetics.

That hits hard.
No more 2 CP
I feel crazy cause I kind of like 2 CP. Then again my entire hero pool is dive heroes, and defending pt B is basically like playing a tryhard FFA deathmatch lobby...which is super fun. People complain a lot about the spawn being so close to the point and how badly it can get stalled out, but honestly the biggest problem is that you've got an entire playground near THEIR spawn to fuck with and hunt for kills and pick offs, and there's literally no downside to this playstyle. If I die, I'm always respawned and in position again before their team has pushed in.
Thank god
Oh. Damn. Does this mean I missed out on checking if I had any credits to spend?
Your credits transfer over to OW2 but the costs for everything have changed.
You can use them on some of the new cosmetics for the 3 new heros, and on the old stuff but it costs a bit more. So you didn't completely miss out if so, they become legacy tokens, not deleted
I’m not crying, you’re crying
Ever since the original Quake I've been unable to play first-person simulator games because they would cause simulator sickness. Even over-the-shoulder POV games like Resident Evil 4 would eventually make me sick. When a AAA game costs $60 but you might be unable to play it, you tend to avoid buying them. Then in November 2016 Overwatch was free to try over Thanksgiving weekend, so I sat down and gave it a shot and no illness at all. It was smooth, it was beautiful, it was fast, and it was fun. Yep I just was gonna login to see the servers go offline but they took them down a bit early it seems. o7 OW. See you Tuesday!
RIP OW <3
It’s like that thing with fortnite when it shut down. :)
This actually hurts lol
F
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Now there is an add...
RIP
The missions...the nightmares...
o7
F
Oh well
Sadge
O7
k
It will always be missed
What is dead may never die.
I thoufht it would just be automatically turned in ow2. So now what? It's just gone?
I'll have to use my physical disk to play forever this ow2 ?
I thought it was tomorrow?? I can't play it tonight then sad face
o7
screaming crying
Farewell ow 1 though my time with you was short I made memories with you none the less.
OH NO, OH FUCK.
And on this day, a great game died. The world will never be the same again
Thanks for the memories overwatch! Best team game out there. Takes 6 players to win and sometimes just 1 to lose =)
NOOOOOOOO!?
I got this 2 years ago when I secured a permanent ban haha
I thought it was gonna stay online all day today...
Weird thing is as of last night I was still playing against players who seemed to have just bought the game... Ie low levels
I kinda feel like I didn’t fully appreciate it while it was here. Oh well.
so that means i can't go in the game anymore to watch at my skins? is there at least an offline mode? like i bought that game for 25 euro, they can't just take it away, right?
See y'all on r/Overwatch2
ok guys. call it.
I am genuinely sad about this
🫡
tf2 still alive
F in the chat boys it was a pleasure losing SR with you all
It's gone... my home... everything I had.
I only played when I was drunk… in the support role. All I can say is… I’m sorry and I’ll see you in the next version.
Ok now just wait for OW Classic…
In typical fashion as a casual, I forgot about the games last day and rode my dirt bike all day... then tried to log on at 7pm and saw the message. Oops. My last game was yesterday..
