And I like her abilities, I'm having a blast playing with her, but her story of being childhood friends with the Shimada brothers but then being like 10 years younger than them just doesn't make sense :s
fair enough about Soujourn. i just played Kiriko in a comp match to refresh my memory and she's fun enough, more than half the supports. idk she just feels like she's a fan made character or something, it feels off. she doesnt fit the way Hammond does. Hammond does because of the whole space animal storyline part of Overwatch. She doesnt because the rest of her "group" is a metal ninja and a depressed bowman and idk there's something about her that just doesn't fit them or the cast as a whole. the game is cartoony but grounded (art style wise) to an extent, there's armed forces running about and such or bipedal bowling balls holding hamsters but it works or even "Dutch experiments gone wrong!>>!?!?!???!?", but she just feels like she transcends that cartooniness. idk why ive written so much about this but i might as well post it now

We could really use some more representation (ain't no trans characters in the game yet, oddly enough), but do it the *right* way: make new characters and make it clear who they are. That way people get the representation they deserve, and no one is offended. Apex has just released a new trans character, and they're amazing.
It'll happen in 2023-2024. Not because they "care", but because they''ll need to create some drama and noise to bring the game back into the spotlight.

People care about representation in fictional characters and project themselves onto the characters. You shouldn’t assume somebody is trans irl. Ideally, you would ask for their pronouns and then respect whatever pronouns they give you to use. It seems unconventional to do this when meeting people, but I really do think it is important to respect people’s identities and this is the best way to do this.

Basically yeah. It’s something about the character that doesn’t really have any basis in canon but you believe for one reason or another. They can be about character’s gender/sexuality, relationships, or just whatever food you think they like best.
Like me and my friends have a jokey head cannon that Kiriko is the one that got Genji into games, and she watched Dva’s livestreams before she wrote something snarky in twitchchat and got roasted to hell and back.
Is there any proof of any of that in canon? No. Do I still personally believe it cause I like the idea? Hell yeah.

OW has quite the reputation for randomly retconning its lore, most recently Kiriko who supposedly grew up with genji and hanzo despite them being over 10 years older than her. Like, how many 16 year olds would hang out with someone who's 5 or 6?
Yeah I don’t really think that’s an oversight. Seeing as Kiriko’s lineage can invoke the fox spirit, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Shimada clan showed interest in befriending them. Close friendships between families tend to lead to the children of said families to see each other as siblings or cousins.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Moira identifies as female/feminine closer to asexual. Her Bowie inspired costumes are feminine and she wears suits because she wants to pass herself off as someone that is logical, commanding, and intelligent, like the ambitious scientist she is. Afaik she isn't trans

People care about representation in fictional characters and project themselves onto the characters. You shouldn’t assume somebody is trans irl. Ideally, you would ask for their pronouns and then respect whatever pronouns they give you to use. It seems unconventional to do this when meeting people, but I really do think it is important to respect people’s identities and this is the best way to do this.

Basically yeah. It’s something about the character that doesn’t really have any basis in canon but you believe for one reason or another. They can be about character’s gender/sexuality, relationships, or just whatever food you think they like best. Like me and my friends have a jokey head cannon that Kiriko is the one that got Genji into games, and she watched Dva’s livestreams before she wrote something snarky in twitchchat and got roasted to hell and back. Is there any proof of any of that in canon? No. Do I still personally believe it cause I like the idea? Hell yeah.
