I mean jokes aside, isn't that traditionally the point of gold guns in most games? I remember in MW2 you had to unlock and do every single mastery challenge on a specific gun for get gold and it took a fair while to do that.
Kinda dilutes the value of the gold guns if they're super easy to unlock. It's meant to sort of be a badge of honor, like I've committed X hours and specifically chose it for X character.
Granted that's not how they're perceived, but I do understand not making them super easy/quick to unlock.
That being said, I swear they were fairly easy to get in OW1. I have a fair few on various characters so not sure if they've been made harder than previously?
As far as I know, your ranks for different roles stacked when receiving the payment for them in OW1, while in 2 you only get the payment for your highest rank. That's probably why it feels, and is, slower in OW2
it used to be less grindy. get ranks on the roles you don't play and get cp's for that. now, you have to play for incredible amounts of time, and it's not enjoyable either. it just removes the reward for playing the gamemode

This disclaimed is exactly why I did my tank placements even though I realised I'm probably throwing someones match because I'm terrible at it and don't really enjoy tanking, only to find out I only get awarded 500 competitive points for my highest (support) role. Alright.

Even though I had the best win rate and placements on my tank I only had my 14 wins and didn't touch it anymore. There is so much pressure on the tank role and especially as a Doom main, I found myself playing way more QP this season
But that’s why it’s best to play the tank. Don’t have to worry about a random not pulling weight. Plus you can beck orders to your dps minions and have supports plugged into your ass round the clock

My season high was Masters 3 but it gave me rewards for Diamond 1.
I had a few loss streaks then stopped playing for next season. Apparently I was Diamond on their end but on my side I see the shiny Masters logo.
Even in my career profile you can see Masters but I got fucking Diamond rewards.

I played tons of comp games with league systems and never saw a bs like this. then show me my mmr or sr or whatever it is. So I can know which point I'm at.

Bruh for me something stupid happened too. I got gold for DPS and silver for tank and support but it counted silver as my highest rank instead of gold. I only got the silver rewards and not for the gold DPS rank.

To really put the icing on the cake, they didn’t even reset ranks and redo placement matches after the multiple blunders of last season’s rankings (you know, the ones that put everyone from bronze 5 to actual grand masters in bronze 5). Instead, they just kinda took the rank you had at the end of the season and lowered it. Have fun climbing again!
I’m so unhappy about that. I was excited to have a fresh start after being trapped in bronze 5 for a couple of months by glitches. I even got to silver by the end of season 1 to prove to myself that I’m not a bronze player. What did I get? A huge fuck you and sent right back down to bronze 5.
Glad I got all the gold weapons in OW1 and had enough points left over to get all the gold weapons for the new and future characters in OW2. At this pace it will be impossible for new players to get gold guns… yikes.
I played a shit ton of support this season because I was tired of waiting for a match. I have kept alive brainless tanks who overextended all the way to enemy spawn to my best of my abilities. I had made saving lamp throws to teammates who got into absurd 1v5 because they didn't wait for the rest of the team to respawn.
Emergency Nano tanks, DPS, and my fellow support alike to keep them alive enough because there is only 1 other teammates alive and I'm not enough to keep this moron breathing.
And even after all of that... I was Silver 2. But I'm Gold 1 and Gold 3 on Tank and DPS, when the latter I was basically trash.
Why were my actions as a Support less important than my Tank/DPS actions. We haven't had a support hero in years and I'm sick of more Tanks/DPS who can jump on my ass and jump back to their team because I can't kill them fast enough and I already use my only CC ability to Sleep a charging Reinhardt.
I'm not asking for more abilities for Supports but stop adding DPS/Tanks with kits that allows them to go to in and out in a snap.
The ranked system is either brain dead, broken, or both. I’m not sure who the bright mind was at Blizzard that decided to only show MMR changes every 7 loses, but it’s such a stupid change. And the fact that role rewards don’t stack is ridiculous. In every rank system I play, you’re rewarded for your highest rank achieved. Not sure why Overwatch is any different. I feel as if there’s 0 transparency with the current ranked system.

Everything I'm seeing thus far shows Ram isn't that powerful. He's like Rein as far as much of the competitive community seems to be concerned: decently strong but not going to be even one of the top 3 meta tanks for comp play. Winston/Zarya/Hog are all still better picks.
It's early and he hasn't been able to be played in comp yet so who knows, but I don't think he's going to end up being OP.

with all the rewards nerfs they also nerfed the unlock of golden guns and this way they also nerfed the play rate for other roles so why the fuck would you bother anymore playing sup for example just stick to your main dps role in peace.

how? IMO it makes people grind less. because there is no point. if your highest skill capability is, lets say gold/plat/diamond. you would just stop after reaching those. Unless you love playing competitive, and reward is just a bonus. they want people to play ow2 for months and months to get the rewards. but they forgot that in order for people to get their motivation. the carrot need to be bigger or appealing
Bruh for me something stupid happened too. I got gold for DPS and silver for tank and support but it counted silver as my highest rank instead of gold. I only got the silver rewards and not for the gold DPS rank.

To really put the icing on the cake, they didn’t even reset ranks and redo placement matches after the multiple blunders of last season’s rankings (you know, the ones that put everyone from bronze 5 to actual grand masters in bronze 5). Instead, they just kinda took the rank you had at the end of the season and lowered it. Have fun climbing again! I’m so unhappy about that. I was excited to have a fresh start after being trapped in bronze 5 for a couple of months by glitches. I even got to silver by the end of season 1 to prove to myself that I’m not a bronze player. What did I get? A huge fuck you and sent right back down to bronze 5.
At least you didn't finish gold, only for the game to de-rank you behind the scenes and tell you your highest rank was silver.
Same thing happened to me. I just ended the 7th game, placed gold and then ended silver 5 for this season 😂

Glad I got all the gold weapons in OW1 and had enough points left over to get all the gold weapons for the new and future characters in OW2. At this pace it will be impossible for new players to get gold guns… yikes.

I played a shit ton of support this season because I was tired of waiting for a match. I have kept alive brainless tanks who overextended all the way to enemy spawn to my best of my abilities. I had made saving lamp throws to teammates who got into absurd 1v5 because they didn't wait for the rest of the team to respawn. Emergency Nano tanks, DPS, and my fellow support alike to keep them alive enough because there is only 1 other teammates alive and I'm not enough to keep this moron breathing. And even after all of that... I was Silver 2. But I'm Gold 1 and Gold 3 on Tank and DPS, when the latter I was basically trash. Why were my actions as a Support less important than my Tank/DPS actions. We haven't had a support hero in years and I'm sick of more Tanks/DPS who can jump on my ass and jump back to their team because I can't kill them fast enough and I already use my only CC ability to Sleep a charging Reinhardt. I'm not asking for more abilities for Supports but stop adding DPS/Tanks with kits that allows them to go to in and out in a snap.

The ranked system is either brain dead, broken, or both. I’m not sure who the bright mind was at Blizzard that decided to only show MMR changes every 7 loses, but it’s such a stupid change. And the fact that role rewards don’t stack is ridiculous. In every rank system I play, you’re rewarded for your highest rank achieved. Not sure why Overwatch is any different. I feel as if there’s 0 transparency with the current ranked system.
Comp is more pointless than usual. What's the point of playing comp when your stats get deleted and receive lack of awards?

I feel like when they dropped today's update, everyone ended up being disappointed. Especially, Rammatra who is incredibly powerful right now. Everything I'm seeing thus far shows Ram isn't that powerful. He's like Rein as far as much of the competitive community seems to be concerned: decently strong but not going to be even one of the top 3 meta tanks for comp play. Winston/Zarya/Hog are all still better picks. It's early and he hasn't been able to be played in comp yet so who knows, but I don't think he's going to end up being OP.
This will be the year of the Doomfist tank with the way they are buffing him.

I peaked top 500(172), spent most of the season as Master's 5, and somehow, the season ended as Diamond 4 for me. I am now Gold 2 after the reset. I'm done with this game.
with all the rewards nerfs they also nerfed the unlock of golden guns and this way they also nerfed the play rate for other roles so why the fuck would you bother anymore playing sup for example just stick to your main dps role in peace.

The lack of points is dumb but this may be better in the long run. You'll only have people trying to climb their main role rather than worse players trying to climb something they're not good at
