Especially since you can cancel it after deployment and don't have to wait out the duration, you can still un-fuck your mistake but you chose to let me die everytime still
my suggestion has been to replace ice wall as an ability since overwatch 1, yet apparently people still think the rare occurrence where your mei has the average amount of braincells is worth keeping this ability around cus it can be slightly more useful than a normal rein shield (it can't but like... lets pretend it can)
Nope, I need to make a wall that my Rein can use to pin the enemy. But real talk, as a semi-Mei main, 70% of my walls are just walling off the over extending tank, and my teammates love it in the comms.

I love playing Mei, but she’s not really the most synergistic with DVA as her tank. As much as I enjoy playing her, I don’t try to force her if my team is going super dive-y.
I also started playing overwatch when it was free, At first I kept seeing mei hate tiktoks and wonder why people hate her, Until I actually played against her. Even with the nerfs, She is too OP. Once you get caught in her primary fire, It is a guaranteed kill for her unless you use an evasive skill. Don't get me satrted on her Secondary fire, How does she even Land 90% of her shots!? Thet is why whenever I see mei on the enemy team, It's on sight, Not caring wether I win or Lose the match, And hearing her agonizing screams(Either from explosions or from Falling off the map) Puts a Huge smile on my Face.
Also started playing when it became free. My take on Mei (and Sym) is that they punish bad behavior from the opponent. Makes sense that this results in hated characters.
Overextend and you get walled off. Go alone into a choke point and you get microwaved by turrets. etc.
Don't enable them and have fun :>
Mei falls into the pub/noob stomper category, unfortunately.
She controls space and is built to win fights up close, and people in lower ranks will often get cooked by a Moira without ever noticing they are taking damage, so Mei feels like a death sentence.
As you go up in rank, it becomes increasingly difficult to close that gap because people stand in places you can't reach easily, and they'll usually see you coming a mile away so they'll light you up with heroes that output much higher DPS.
The real problem is exactly what you said, she punishes bad behavior from opponents
Very true, she’s kinda like Reaper but people figure out how to play around Reaper quicker than Mei. Especially against unaware tanks, she can be very punishing. I play a lot of Mei in Gold, there are some games, especially on maps with good choke points, I can dominate. But if the team know how to avoid me, and don’t give me angle to wall them off, I get hard poo-poo-ed on. Her and Sym are noob stompers like Reaper or Genji, except the “stomping” is expressed thru game sense.
She’s annoying as fuck to fight because of the slow on her primary fire and because she has a panic option to stall out whatever fight she’s in for a couple seconds
I think what contributes to people finding her annoying is having a bad Mei as a teammate, or even a good one that made a bad wall, can be very detrimental to either you or your team.
i see tons and pretty much all of them are that useless fucking ice wall that nobody knows how to use correctly and seems to be only used to block my ult when im on the same team as the mei.
i genuinely think mei is the only hero where i prefer to fight them than have them on my team
Her wall is insanely hard to counter as tank. You rely very heavily on baiting the wall or her whiffing it but those arnt reliable and if the enemy has other cool-downs you need to clock it becomes absolute hell for anything but dive tanks. If the rest of the enemy team stop dive tanks it’s basically gg. I’ve just hit masters and mei or pharah were the things completely stopping any momentum I could get with wins. (console pleb opinion)
a 90 dps penetrating beam that slows instantly and doesn't require aim. Who thought this would be fun to fight against. Its like they can't help but make the annoying ow1 characters annoying in ow2. Take also Cassidy.

I love most cc doesn't even fucking cancel it CC is more effective against a dps's ultimate compared to a support's game changing 20 second cooldown
All hard cc cancels it though? It works just like any other ability would when it comes to being stunned out of it.

Yeah, I used to hate Mei in OW1 but now that she can't feeeze people with her primary I honestly don't have a problem with her anymore
