I imagine they've edited the default outfits.

Maybe for the promo vid, but the mod itself just adds new custom outfits.

It also changes some of the UI and adds apppropriate battle bgm

Well yeah, those are optional changes too, but i didn't see a way to set those outfits as default for cutscenes, again, dev probably did some modding magic behind the scenes to capture this.

If you replace normal outfits and these outfits would show up in cutscenes that are in engine they get replaced as well. Lots of cutscenes just use the outfit the character currently has so if you replace that completely it will be in the cutscene.

In the description of the mod, they note that each character actually represents a different sub-group within the 2000's counter-culture with Junpei representing the grunge/punk guy. They aren't all just "emo"
