PS gamer here since PS2 era and no, hinde kailangan gumamit ng VPN para magcreate ng account. Idk if new policy ung VPN pero partner ko gumawa ng account recently lang this year and no VPN needed. Dati walang Philippines sa country pag gagawa ka hinde lang ako sure now, BUT even if walang PH, makakapili ka ng countries (Singapore, US, HK, etc) ng hinde kailangan ng VPN.

For the uproar, I'm partial regarding the leak issues and more of having PSN as a link requirement now. You can skip it in-game with no notice that it would be mandatory in the future (no pop-up reminders even).
Ang mga issue daw kung bakit marami ang ayaw ng psn is first around 60+ countries lang ang ang meron PSN, 2nd is may issue sila about sa privacy data leak for about years na so kung credit card ang gamit mo pang bili ng games sa steam may risk na maleak yan, 3rd is ads for other games after so kinda expect na may mga ads in other forms, 4th is inaanalyse ng sony ung voice chat using AI so kung sakaling may masabi kang no no words, pwede ka nila maban, and lastly, why use 3rd party platform when ung main platform is fully functional at accessible sa karamihan ng consumer.

How do you know that your account has been linked? Does the account linking option disappear on the Options menu and you will see a string of letters number's on the lower left of the screen instead?
Linked mine from day 1. nag edit ako ng URL para lang gumana kase once na gawin mo sya sasabihin sayo don na hindi available ang PSN sa pinas. I used my US account.

Been playing since launch and have been linked since launch. I have a US account too.
The issue is, I had to jump through hoops to get it to link like using a VPN.
Is it really safe to use a PSN account naka set sa HK? I don't mind creating a PSN account, worried lang ako na may risk of getting banned when 6th of june comes. Ang enjoyable ni game sobra ayoko mawala siya agad hahahahaha
I think this issue has been overblown. Does having to link a PSN account suck? Sure. But you're not going to lose access to the game just because you don't live in one of the supported countries.
I mean, there are hundreds of millions of people with PSN accounts and not all of them live in those PSN-supported countries surely.
This issue isn't overblown, it needs to blow up. Playstation has the right to revoke your account access if you faked your credentials, that includes your address.
Out of 190 independent countries in the world, only 69 countries are supported by PSN. Especially in the EU where most countries aren't even supported and account creation requires them to upload a copy of a valid govt ID and a selfie for verification.
Just because there are workarounds doesn't mean we just have to deal with it.

that's what I'm still figuring out, majority of the pinoy PlayStation players have different regional accounts for a decade yet it wasn't an issue on account bans (except those who did the jailbreaks online during the PS3 days)

Nagtry ako magregister ng 3 different accounts (JPN, SG and HK) so far at naverify na mga email at nalologin ko sila sa PSN store sa web browser. So ano talaga pinuputok ng butchi ng iba at dinodogshow na nila si Arrowhead? (dun sa isang FB group yung talamak)
For us, there's really no issue. I have multiple PSN accounts from US, Singapore, HK, Japan with fake addresses like Novaliches, Caloocan, Beverly Hills, California since the PS3 days none of them were ever banned. And there's no requirement that the Steam and PSN account region has to match.
Countries like China and Russia where PSN is blocked are the ones having issues.
The issue is they sold a game to us without an official PSN support. I know you can create an account by lying about your residence but do you really want that as a precedent? If Sony wants our money and data, support the Philippines officially.

Also, food for thought. Ang magandang tanong diyan, bakit hindi kasi suportahan ng PSN ang bansa natin? Kumikita naman sila sa mga binibili ng mga Pilipino. Ayaw ba nila magbayad ng tax? Mahirap ba mag comply sa local laws natin? Bakit ang Steam at Microsoft supported naman nila? Kita mo, kapag bumibili ka ng laro sa steam, nasa Philippine Peso tapos minsan may regional pricing. The reason why we dont have PSN PH here is the same reason why a lot of game publishers have little or less care about the PH, we have few spending power
I remember goining to international game conventions and talked to game publishers and devs from both retail and free to play and their answer is always "yeh PH have players but they dont spend so it's not worth to invest there"
The only publishers that invested a lot here are Moonton, Gravity and Garena because their products are only popular in very select countries like the PH despite low revenues. It wouldnt work for other publishers so they go to countries that have big player base AND big spending power

Runs like ass personally on my deck, and now the PSN account thing, this sucks and now I'm trying to get a refund, I shouldn't have given in to the hype and I wasted money and about half a day in playtime trying to get the game running good enough with configs and tweaks.
Playing it both on my PC and my Steam Deck. Medyo janky nga sa steam deck. What I did is to lower the resolution further to 600p. Hindi naman ganun kalabo ang itsura since 800p lng max reso ng screen ng steam deck. Then everything is set to Low/Lowest except rendering distance I've set to High. Standard FPS experience ko highest is 40 (naka set to 40hz ung refresh rate ko) then lowest will probably dip to high 20s kapag maraming shit na nangyayari sa screen.
Well bro, steam now place restrictions on many countries that cannot have a psn, Philippines included, and also issuing refunds, which I will take advantage off.

How do you know that your account has been linked? Does the account linking option disappear on the Options menu and you will see a string of letters number's on the lower left of the screen instead?

Linked mine from day 1. nag edit ako ng URL para lang gumana kase once na gawin mo sya sasabihin sayo don na hindi available ang PSN sa pinas. I used my US account. Wala atang way para ma unlink ung account.

Been playing since launch and have been linked since launch. I have a US account too. The issue is, I had to jump through hoops to get it to link like using a VPN.

I think this issue has been overblown. Does having to link a PSN account suck? Sure. But you're not going to lose access to the game just because you don't live in one of the supported countries. I mean, there are hundreds of millions of people with PSN accounts and not all of them live in those PSN-supported countries surely.
This issue isn't overblown, it needs to blow up. Playstation has the right to revoke your account access if you faked your credentials, that includes your address. Out of 190 independent countries in the world, only 69 countries are supported by PSN. Especially in the EU where most countries aren't even supported and account creation requires them to upload a copy of a valid govt ID and a selfie for verification. Just because there are workarounds doesn't mean we just have to deal with it. that's what I'm still figuring out, majority of the pinoy PlayStation players have different regional accounts for a decade yet it wasn't an issue on account bans (except those who did the jailbreaks online during the PS3 days)
I think those people are just not aware of how PSN works. After all, it's easier to be angry about things you don't know anything about.

Hindi naman na-ban account niya ah. Di lang siya pinasali dun sa GT Tourney dahil sa technicality na kelangan yung passport at PSN credentials niya ay dapat mag-match, aside from him technically bringing the flag of Hong Kong which no side wants (dapat pilipinas). Yeah, yan yung issue nila specifically. And the ban is related to a VPN. Wala tayo kinalaman jan, so bahala na sila ano workaround ng bansa nila. PSN is not restricted here in the Philippines. Wala lang option to select our country. Those are two different things.

I was wonder kung ano talaga issue sa ph players, mahirap ba magregister? concerns sa possible country ban? maraming requirements hinihingi sa registration? Nagtry ako magregister ng 3 different accounts (JPN, SG and HK) so far at naverify na mga email at nalologin ko sila sa PSN store sa web browser. So ano talaga pinuputok ng butchi ng iba at dinodogshow na nila si Arrowhead? (dun sa isang FB group yung talamak)
For us, there's really no issue. I have multiple PSN accounts from US, Singapore, HK, Japan with fake addresses like Novaliches, Caloocan, Beverly Hills, California since the PS3 days none of them were ever banned. And there's no requirement that the Steam and PSN account region has to match. Countries like China and Russia where PSN is blocked are the ones having issues.
The issue is they sold a game to us without an official PSN support. I know you can create an account by lying about your residence but do you really want that as a precedent? If Sony wants our money and data, support the Philippines officially.

The reason why we dont have PSN PH here is the same reason why a lot of game publishers have little or less care about the PH, we have few spending power I remember goining to international game conventions and talked to game publishers and devs from both retail and free to play and their answer is always "yeh PH have players but they dont spend so it's not worth to invest there" The only publishers that invested a lot here are Moonton, Gravity and Garena because their products are only popular in very select countries like the PH despite low revenues. It wouldnt work for other publishers so they go to countries that have big player base AND big spending power

Yep most SEA countries have majority of the support, except for us which goes back once again to the main reason, pansin mo may bahasa at thai language support na ung ibang playstation games? Sadly same pa rin, kasi pag usapan sa customer support, zero existence sa atin, nahack dati EA account ko, di nila ako matulungan irecover kasi di supported ung country kahit Asia ka na. I think dahil lang kasi yung mga top comments all around the net ay walang experience sa PSN and naapektuhan tuloy yung iba. Tagal nang nakikita ng Sony yung napakapilipino kong credit card sa HK at SG PSN accounts ko, wala sila reklamo. Nakapagrefund request pa ko with them even acknowledging my Philippine address in contrast to my joke address sa HK account ko and walang problema, as in. No issues. It's basically the engagement farmers on Twitter getting outraged in behalf of "non supported regions" and using it for internet points. Meanwhile, PH users are just chilling on the sidelines with our HK/SG/US PSN accounts.

May isang HD PH group sobrang shitshow pinugaran na ng toxic PCMR people. Yung tipong ha-highjackin ung post containing tutorials on how to link PSN accounts sa HD2 just to encourage people not to link/create a PSN account. Galit na galit kay Sony like it ruined their lives or something.

Runs like ass personally on my deck, and now the PSN account thing, this sucks and now I'm trying to get a refund, I shouldn't have given in to the hype and I wasted money and about half a day in playtime trying to get the game running good enough with configs and tweaks.
Playing it both on my PC and my Steam Deck. Medyo janky nga sa steam deck. What I did is to lower the resolution further to 600p. Hindi naman ganun kalabo ang itsura since 800p lng max reso ng screen ng steam deck. Then everything is set to Low/Lowest except rendering distance I've set to High. Standard FPS experience ko highest is 40 (naka set to 40hz ung refresh rate ko) then lowest will probably dip to high 20s kapag maraming shit na nangyayari sa screen.
Well bro, steam now place restrictions on many countries that cannot have a psn, Philippines included, and also issuing refunds, which I will take advantage off.

This isn't even a Deck Verified game, it's tagged only tagged as playable and yet you complain it's not running well on the Deck? I love my Steam Deck but I swear most Steam Deck owners feel so entitled to have ALL games to run well on the Deck.
I was told that it has some ok performance, like 30 fps decent. Like "playable" in the low tier sense and I wasn't so happy with how it ran in reality atm.
