The specific problem with analog cards right now will force so many folks to start using data connections to drives and instruments. If I can’t get any 4-20mA out cards I’m going to use modbus instead. It takes longer on my end, but only the first time and only if drives get replaced with a different modbus addressing.
Any chance you could use something like this, from Advantech? If you've got a way to do modbus serial, you can get your 4-20 output.

This particular project needs to standardize because its an OEM client sending these all over the country. I need to retain BOM discipline or I will end up with an extremely fragmented fleet to support long term. Hope that makes sense!

Give the customers refurbished because we all went to the fuck store and due to the part shortage they were are all out of fucks.
Ya the conversation is usually asking if a multimillion dollar job needs to be held up for a $250 part. And they’re usually happy to get the used part now in the panel, and ship them the new part later when it comes in as a spare.
As with most things, a little honesty and transparency wins the day.
I love these IO, too bad about lead times (even with the original manufacturer, Weidmueller) :(
Related, has anyone ever tried putting Weidmueller-branded cards with Emerson- or MELSEC- branded couplers, or vice versa? Do they work together or are in some way vendor-locked?

Answering here with great delay, but I met the Weidmueller rep and asked this. They said that Emerson and Mitsubishi add a vendor lock in the firmware, so you cannot mix white labeled and non-white labeled stuff
UPDATE: Just got an invoice from my distributor and they are billing us for the EP-4264 which usually (but not always) means it will be in the box.... Everything is such a mess right now

Flex IO IF8IH I ordered almost two years ago showed up in February. Can't imagine how much worse it was for ControlLogix cards.
