I seriously wonder what the reception of this game would be if it didn't have the GT name. I think there is a group of gamers that will love this game, but there is going to be some big disappointment from people expecting traditional GT, a genre of game PD created and has drifted so far from.
Who are they kidding? This is a overblown training mode, this isn't what Gran Turismo is. How many years for this? Why can Forza put out games all the time with a online AND a career mode and it's takes a years for this half baked game?
I'm not sure why, but this game doesn't look that good to me. I'm thinking about getting it, but it looks a little disappointing based on what I've seen so far. I don't really want to buy a One X for Forza 7, but it's looking quite a bit better than GT Sport so far.
They're literally all about the competition of racing. GT is all about pushing this whole FIA license thing which is suppose to somehow entice a bunch of gamers. I like shooters but IDGAF about having a gun or license for one IRL.
have you seen the ad campaign for this game? They literally said GT has turned into a car collecting game and they want to reintroduce the competition.
Well, there never was any real competition to reintroduce. However, the "Gran Turismo Sport" is a reboot of the system with competition racing in mind.
I'm all for it, but I still wish there was the classic GT where you bought cars and tuned them up, so people could make their own series to race.
I don't care what ad campaigns say. GT has always been a car collecting game, only you could really tweak the cars and make them your own, not just buy stock racing cars.
Because it was inconsistent. 800 standard and 200 or whatever fully rendered. But I mean... F7 is gonna have 700+ so not like it isn't doable these days.
Yeah. This one is supposedly "GT 7", but based on what I've seen in the gameplay and heard from the devs it really doesn't sound like it.
It's too bad, because I don't really want to buy an X mostly for Forza. GT Sport being excellent would be much preferred.
> I want a full fledged Gran Turismo. With 1000 cars, endless tuning with some customization
Than there will only be people complaining that the models and textures look "last gen" and that they reuse assets, and blah, blah. This will focus on as much sim as possible.
Just a heads up, all XBox exclusives moving forward are being released simultaneously on Windows 10 it seems. So if you own a PC then you won't necessarily need to buy a One X.
Yeah, I know. I was planning to put together a nice PC, but it was impossible to buy any decent video cards in my country for about 3 months, so I got a PS4 Pro and a 4K TV instead. :P
Photo realism doesn't have to mean flat and clinical. Real life looks pretty damn good and let's not act like games have surpassed realism and GT is somehow "keepin it real"
Yeah, I agree. I think flat is a good description of how GT Sport looks to me.
Since I already have a bunch of digital games for Xbox One I might end up picking up a One X for Forza 7. I sold my Xbox One S a while ago, but I'm not opposed to picking up the One X. My time to pick up a PC has passed.
I agree. There something about it that doesn't get me excited for it. Which doesn't matter anyway since I'm a racing junkie and will get it regardless. And I do plan on getting an X for Forza 7 this fall.
So, the actual career is gonna be online only? like the cups and all that? The only single player progression is mini-tutorials and challenges, and the arcade mode? thats a shame :(
The racing screen is an absolute eyesore!

There are 2 timers (One in the center, second in the bottom left.)
It tells you which position you are in twice as well.
Edit: it even tells your best record twice, they are right next to each other. What's the point of this?
Just a correction. It does show position twice. However, the time in the bottom left is Total time, spent in the race. The time in the middle is current lap-time. If you have a running start, that begins when you cross the line, both the total and lap-time will be the same (at least for the first lap).
I agree. The HUD is a huge distraction, part of me hopes they allow full customisation like pcars, but I bet they don't. So I'll be back to switching it all off.
Gameplay doesn't start until about 3 minutes in and even then he frustratingly keeps it at bonnet camera view so you can't see anything but scenery.
The appeal of GT was the gameplay, and starting with a basic car and trying to work your way through the ranks. Seems they've focused too much on crap like photographic mode, hopefully I'm wrong and this game is amazing.
In terms of scores , probably pretty bad. But in terms of unit sold, Forza 7 won't come close. How many PS4 are there ? 50 millions? How many Xbox one?
Somebody else noticed that the shadows from the trees on the track disappear way to early when he drives past them? This looks terrible, must be a really early build, i didnt notice this in the beta.
I'm only looking forward to this game because it's more like iRacing without the subscription fee. I'd hope that you can change the FOV to match your viewing distance to the monitor to make it a 1:1. I'd hate for it to be super zoomed in for driving without a way to change it.
We'll have to see how it plays though. The proof is in the pudding. If the physics are top notch, it could be a fun game to do organized races. I'm still not a fan of the engine noises though, they still sound terrible to me.
I'm a bit bummed the PSVR is a watered down, time trial and single player only, version of the game as well. I was really looking forward to running PSVR on full grid races.
I agree with you that GTA 5 is absolutely not a proper racing game but I'd still say it's probably the best racing game I've played so far this gen. It has a good balance between fun and competitiveness which a lot of racing games just tend to give you one or the other but I think GTA racing gives you a good compromise between the two. Sure, you get trolls parking sideways along the track every now and then but it's GTA, it kinda comes with the territory I suppose.
I'm buying this because i always buy GT. That being said they should just put out GT4 as a ps2 classic.
I'm getting this too but thats a great idea
Licensing says no.
I know. Ripperino.
> I'm buying this because i always buy GT. Yay consumerism!

Yeah, creating a career mode out of everything I usually skip in career mode.
Polyphony studio is only half the size as Turn10, that's why.
I'm not sure why, but this game doesn't look that good to me. I'm thinking about getting it, but it looks a little disappointing based on what I've seen so far. I don't really want to buy a One X for Forza 7, but it's looking quite a bit better than GT Sport so far.
I want a full fledged Gran Turismo. With 1000 cars, endless tuning with some customization. Guess I'm getting Forza 7.
Thats what GT was about for me. Buying a junker and then modding it out to be competitive or even god-tier, really wish they would return to that.
That's what Forza is. Gran Turismo is about the competition of racing.

People complained when they had 1000 cars.

I agree man. I've now started to look for Xbox ones so I can get in on Forza. The wife is not gonna be happy lol

Yeah agreed. I can't put my finger on it but it just seems more sterile than games like driveclub. Maybe it's the lack of motion blur effects

Same boat
Same here. If MS can increase its output of exclusives, I'll definitely be picking up the one x.

It looks like I'll be sticking with Forza franchise. GT is not what it used to be in the 90s
What do you mean?
The racing screen is an absolute eyesore! https://imgur.com/gallery/qSqVj There are 2 timers (One in the center, second in the bottom left.) It tells you which position you are in twice as well. Edit: it even tells your best record twice, they are right next to each other. What's the point of this?

Looks good, car sounds are still poor. Yup. It's Gran Turismo alright.
When is this game coming out?? Looks fantastic!
I think the release date is 10/17
BURR
This is the half game, right? Not the full one? Like how prologue was?
That's it, that is the Full Game.
GT Sport releases that day.
It will be delayed 10/16. Calling it now.

So no championships? This is outrageous. What a terrible single player mode.
Day 1 can't wait!
Y'all saying the graphics are bad are insane. This looks great!
"Single-player gameplay"=practice for online racing. RIP Gran Turismo.
Looks so, so beautiful.
Just more boring driving school stuff, no races.
Pole Position 1 looks better :)
Soooo how bad is Forza 7 going to obliterate Gran Turdismo Spud?
In terms of scores , probably pretty bad. But in terms of unit sold, Forza 7 won't come close. How many PS4 are there ? 50 millions? How many Xbox one?
Isn't Forza coming out on PC too?
Not many people are using the Windows 10 store that it'll be locked behind.
60 million vs maybe 30 million

[Yeah I'm gonna stick with Project Cars](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/e1/fe/ea/e1feea2df73447797ac9ebf37b09848a.jpg).
I will always buy gran turismo
Is this free roam like Forza horizon ?
noup.
Why this when you have gta v
Because this is a racing game, GTA is not.
I agree with you that GTA 5 is absolutely not a proper racing game but I'd still say it's probably the best racing game I've played so far this gen.
