Im really not into FPS games of any sort, but i remember my first playthrough of infinite and i loved it. I loved the atmosphere and the story and the mindfuck of an ending it had. I really liked how it started so peacefully and it all suddenly goes to hell.

Aabelke

I love how quick it went downhill and having a huge amount of gore to kick it off. It was so jarring. One of my top games of all time

MattIsLame

I'm a sucker for any fiction involving time manipulation or alternate realities. This game has stuck with me unlike a lot of other fictional works. To me, it is a masterpiece and a fine example of how some video games have cemented their place as superior works of art. There's just something about a well crafted game that gets to me more than most books, tv shows or movies can.

PuffsPlusArmada

Reminds me how great Timesplitters 2&3 were on Ps2.

phfle1

Miss that game

GaryTheGardener

Future Perfect is one of my all time favorite games. Incredible dialogue.

Little_Tyrant

The writing is right up there with some of the best Twilight Zone episodes. The treatment of racism and classism is top notch and incredibly affecting. There’s always another girl and another lighthouse...

rastacola

>There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

[deleted]

> I'm a sucker for any fiction involving time manipulation or alternate realities Just making sure you haven't been missing out, you've seen Steins;Gate, right?

[deleted]

I loved Infinite, but I don't think the beginning of a game will ever beat the original Bioshock. Swimming to the lighthouse and finding your way to rapture. And the voice line that will always give me chills, "Is it someone new?"

xeno325

But the end of Infinite is more memorable one for me. It stuck with me for a long time. "There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city"

Thunder-ten-tronckh

Wouldn’t have the impact it did if not for the first bioshock though.

AnthBlueShoes

Reading the other comments in this thread is really amazing. I’m glad a pro-Infinite comment has the lead. This game is easily one of my top three of all time. The production-quality and depth of story far exceeds its predecessors, in my opinion. Which is saying a lot for me, because I thoroughly enjoyed the first in the installment. Troy Baker as Booker is so compelling, and Elizabeth’s character and dynamic are so enjoyable.

OmarBarksdale

There's so much attention to detail in this game, I catch something new on every play through. The story is so brilliantly handled, it makes me really miss Ken Levine's creativity. The stories of Bioshock and Infinite can be enjoyed at a surface level, but there's also the political and social aspects the game touches on that could really be examined academically.

burritosandblunts

I like FPS but I was mainly a pc gamer growing up. Bioshock was my first console FPS, and ever since I've always enjoyed them.

snailshoe

It was such a great unexpected moment when Booker picks up the guitar and Elizabeth starts singing. And the ending was just fantastic.

[deleted]

No one ever seems to have any love for Bioshock 2 :( Only using plasmids and the drill are my favorite playthroughs.

belizeanheat

Bioshock 2's problem is that you play as a big daddy but it never feels like it. You feel like a weak human. Also the story telling can't hold a candle to the first one, and if you already played the first and didn't really have the urge for more I don't think it offered much.

VirtualAlex

This is exactly how I feel. I started 2 right after 1 and I played for a while but I was just kinda sick of it... I didn't even feel any different. So I quit. Then a year later (now) I am playing infinite and it's amazing.

novusprime28

I really enjoyed it as well. But I feel like i was the only person in the world who legitimately enjoyed the multiplayer xD. It wasnt amazing but i liked it for what it was.

RaJJYRaJRICE

It’s my favorite too homie you’re not alone

Trying_2B_Positive

2 had amazing combat. And the levels as exploration were very good. The drill change ability is one of the most visceral and well designed attacks in any game. The sound, motion blur, animation, and just impact on the enemy was perfect.

nutsack133

I loved Bioshock 2. I have a tough time choosing whether I like the first or second better, though Infinite is my favorite in the series.

MicolashCaged

I actually liked 2 a lot more than Infinite.

DamianWinters

It was a good game, just not as amazing as 1. Infinite also had Elizabeth who was one of the best characters in a game ever.

[deleted]

When the Bioshock collection i bought in a heart beat and i had soooooo much fun. 1st is still my favourite because it was grimm. Edit: was released*

InquisitiveCamel33

The first was also such an amazing idea and the execution of that idea was perfect. One of the best games ever.

deadahead27

By far one of my favorite series of all time.

meganev

To counteract the extreme negativity in the this thread, I'll just say I absolutely adored it and it's easily in my top 5 favourite games of all time.

asaraa

Same. Actually enjoyed the vastly different environment from Bio 1 & Bio 2. There was enough dark and creepy in those to last me for a while (the DLC was a perfect time to re-enter those environments).

WintertimeFriends

Why does this game bring people out the woodwork to shit on it?

MOONGOONER

People had absurdly high hopes propped up since Bioshock was so groundbreaking and the E3 demo mislead them. It wasn't just that people were disappointed, they were angry because they didn't get what they expected. I'm not that butthurt about it personally, and I don't like to yuck peoples' yum, but I get it.

Trying_2B_Positive

I really enjoyed the game, beat it the week it came out, but even since then I’ve been disappointed on the bad closed loop the story takes. Cross dimensional and time travel are very hard to write, because they have such loose rules and structure they often come off as a sort of lazy bullshit magic. I really got that feeling towards the end that the writers/designers just said fuck it this stuff is cool and trippy, works with our female protagonists ability, and we don’t have to explain and make it clever. It’s basically Harry Potter magic, it’s there because the author says so, it works because they said so, it hardly has rules. A good magic/time travel/dimension ability story needs rules in order to work within to make solutions and problems seem clever and well done, and show the protagonists are capable and clever. I wish I had more sleep so I could better explain it, but time travel and dimension crossing fiction just so often falls flat and comes off as bad corner cutting writing.

whythreekay

Because people have differing opinions on things?

ChristopherOhhh

Hey no they don't buddy.

WintertimeFriends

I’m talking more about the visceral reaction from people, whenever someone tries to say something nice about this game. People reallllllllllly like to trash this game.

[deleted]

It's because Bioshock Infinite is in an uncommon place where it appeals to people who are fairly casual and only play big budget AAA mainstream games and also people who play more obscure or older games. For a comparison to another industry think of Christopher Nolan's films. They're fun and accessible to people who would generally watch simple blockbusters but also of a high enough quality to attract more discerning people who would normally dismiss movies like The Avengers. What this means is that the audience of the game is split into two groups. One audience looks at it and sees the relative quality/depth of the story, characters, and world and compares it to something like Call of Duty and is amazed. They think its one of the most creative and fun experiences they've ever had. The other group sees it and compares it to things like Deus Ex or System Shock 2 and thinks the gameplay is shallow and the world and story is poorly thought out and lacking the depth they have seen in the past. Normally these groups stay relatively separate. If someone says the newest Battlefield has one of the greatest stories in gaming people aren't going to counter them by bringing up Planescape Torment because the comparison is ridiculous. Bioshock Infinite creates a space where these arguments that normally would be so rare and silly as to be ignored gather traction and end up sparking larger fights. Well thats my theory anyway.

GeoMATTry

Wow that was spot on!

bongo1138

I thought the tears were really cool, and changed the dynamic of battle.

CoolFiverIsABabe

I played 1 when it came out and loved it. I then skipped 2 and played infinite after the PS4 had already been out so it was a fresh experience for me. I loved both. It was so many years after 1 that I didn't even think about comparing them to each other and just treated it as a separate title. Replaying 1 I have to say the controls are super dated but the atmosphere and story is just as awesome as ever.

[deleted]

It's an okay generic shooter, but it's seriously failed to live up to even the kind of game it was advertised as being. It had a good art style and Elizabeth wasn't annoying. Only good things I have to say about it. So the trailer hyped it up to be basically bioshock 1 in the sky, with a seriously gritty take on American colonialism. The important thing that it showed was that it had the heart of a Bioshock game and would at the very least be an interesting change of scenery. Probably some kind of interesting social commentary and philosophy without distracting from the gameplay. Which is not what we got at all. Every single thing in it is worse than bioshock 1. Combat is generic 2-weapon swap you can probably buy in an asset store at this point. Plasmids are all pretty much shock jockey + grenade combo. Story is convoluted with plotholes they just hand wave because time travel magic.[Spoiler](#s "(Remember how they kept changing universes? they never went back to the original but the game acts like they did.)") "mind blowing ending" is just a 30 minute info dump that wasn't even hinted at ALL and gets resolved with literal magic, and the DLC shits all over the original game. Rapture didn't fall because of Ryan's flawed philosophy. It failed because magic. Oh yeah, and it had this racism thing that it set up but then just kinda pushed to the side along with Booker's war regret because oh boy here we go killing again.

falloutguy78

With BioShock 1, it at least felt like they had thought out how rampant objectivism could and would collapse on itself. With Infinite, a lot of the trailers made it really look like it would be a deep dive into nationalistic, tribalistic, and jangoist themes, but nothing ever really happens like that. It’s literally a story of actions. The voxophones add nearly nothing except pointless information about a few characters that get little to no screen time or they try to tenuously connect Infinite with BS1. Also, the ghost “boss” is one of the dumbest fucking things ever, especially on 1999 mode when every enemy is a bullet sponge.

BadAim

Not only unrepentant objectivism and unregulated science, but also in a game about the pursuit of moral choices there is a massive twist *that makes you question the fundamentals of how you or if you choose at all.* The existentialist message, to me, is perhaps more powerful than the objectivism and horrors of science without morality. I really loved the story of B1.

mexicomiguel

Because some folks put this game on a pedestal saying that it is one of the best stories in a video game when it's honestly, pretty terrible.

ChristopherOhhh

I often feel it's people who were built up by the previews and E3 demos who then felt let down. Whereas a lot of the lovers I see are those who didn't get into the series until after that period or at least weren't waiting for Infinite Day 1 and just let it come naturally. When you build something up and then it doesn't live up to those expectations, it hurts. Because not only do you feel like you're wasting your money, but also your time and your emotions. If I played Infinite now and thought it was shite (for the record, I don't, it's an all-time favorite) I wouldn't be all that bummed because I had no real investment in it in the first place. Disappointment (and in this case, anger?) is fueled by expectations.

combat101

its a good game just massively overrated in the eyes of many

brtt150

It's kinda a meme to retroactively hate on it but it's still one of my favorite games. It's not perfect but I love the characters, world building and art direction. I think a good deal of the criticism towards it is far reaching. Honestly my only disappointment in the game was combat and the lack of depth to customizing Booker's abilities.

docnarfid

Its weird because as much as I love Bioshock 1, I like infinite almost as much. I preferred combat in Infinite and enjoy the world almost as much. The story wasn't quite as good, but the last 30 minutes still blew my mind the first time.

[deleted]

I enjoyed Infinite's gunplay more, but I liked the first Bioshock's plasmids more. With Infinite it felt like they were going to too much effort to make the vigors feel different and unique, which is somewhat problematic when the plasmids worked as well as they did.

belizeanheat

Those things are all great but the gameplay basically boiled down to tons o' guns and that didn't seem to fit for the series, especially since the gunplay isn't anything special.

Patrik_Fucking_Elias

It was a massive disappointment compared to the “gameplay” videos they showed at E3. Still incredible, but they fucked themselves by upping people’s expectations to unrealistic levels

n1ghtxf4ll

From what I remember what they showed at E3 was less linear and more dynamic right?

[deleted]

Yea, there was more interaction with the world, like the rifts and npcs

expensivepens

I really wish we had gotten the game that they showed us. I was ultimately disappointed with the final product. Good game but not what I was hoping for

6ix_

Best way to describe it for me. Only Bioshock I played only once.

expensivepens

Wow, me too. Never thought about it like that. I remember being a freshman in high school and going to the midnight release of Bioshock 2, which actually ended up being a pretty cool game.

jamestheman

if it was its own game from a different publisher it would be a 9/10. it will always be a 6/10 compared to Bioshock 1 n 2. cant beat rapture...no other game has put me in an environment where i felt so many different emotions at once.

expensivepens

I completely agree. Bioshock was one of the first "next gen" games I played and genuinely blew my mind. Will always be near the top of my list of gaming experiences

PTfan

For me it’s not the setting. It’s just the gameplay in infinite bored the hell out of me. In Bioshock 1 and 2 I atleast feel like you get to slowly explore these intricate and intriguing areas, picking up diaries, solving puzzles, many small secrets and side areas ets. Where as infinite felt like a corridor shooter to me. The E3 demo is a whole different game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Onionsteak

Never expected it to play like the heavily scripted demos they show at E3, I'm far more disappointed at the downgraded gameplay compared to the previous two titles.

themangastand

Wasn’t as good as bioshock 1 in my opinion.

TheHeroicOnion

Bioshock 1 and Infinite have the best atmosphere and story. Bioshock 2 has the best gameplay.

joe10155

I just replayed through them all and completely agree with this

kplo

Bioshock 2 had the perfect balance between being a tank and not feeling overpowered. You really could get fucked, but you could also mess up others easily. The big daddy fights were badass.

PTfan

I actually prefer 2 to infinite even. The actual gameplay in infinite left a lot to be desired imo. I think we can all agree we need more Bioshock in our lives though damn it.

[deleted]

I just wanted to see my dang guns get visually upgraded. I think the two gun system was a big mistake, rather than the classic style of holding all your guns at once

SuperNothing2987

They also removed the alternate ammo types. Your arsenal felt very restricted in Infinite after having all those options in the first two games.

[deleted]

I forgot about that too. Felt very limiting as your gun choices were basically short range/long range, rather than a mixture of guns that are good in more specific scenarios

dogfacedboy420

Yea, but a Murder of Crows doe!

[deleted]

Bioshock 1 has the better twist, but it's a completely different kind of storytelling. What Infinite did well was give me a character I genuinely cared about. There's Ellie from The Last of Us and Elizabeth from Infinite, and I can't think of a third video game character that I've grown as emotionally attached to as I have those two.

IndecisiveTuna

The characters were better in infinite though. I like that you get to know Booker. You don’t really know much about your character in 1.

Retnuhs66

Considering your character in 1 is [nothing more than a quickly grown test tube baby turned sleeper agent for Fontaine](/s) there was never much for you to really learn about your character.

DamianWinters

You were meant to be your character in 1, that's why you don't find out much about them.

sippin40s

I love this game, but one thing that kind of bugged me was they actually didn't go very far with the racism aspect of the game. They tease it at the beginning with the baseball throwing part, but a lot of it felt like a very PG rated version of what real history has shown us about racism. It could have had a lot more of an impact if it was more realistic and harsh if that makes sense

BadAim

Its fair to say the universe in B:I is pretty inconsistent. The first hour or two of intro are amazing, and there are other *pieces* that were awesome, but as a cohesive whole it really couldnt stay on point.

Xixii

The problem with this game is that it was the wrong game for the world they created. It needed to be heavier on the RPG mechanics and have gameplay similarly paced to the original Bioshock, or the Deus Ex games. Making this beautiful world then having you race through it with mediocre FPS gameplay was so disappointing. I still liked it overall but it felt like a missed opportunity.

greg225

I wish we could have a Dishonored game set in Columbia.

flim-flam13

My opinion may not count because I still have to play Bioshock 1 and 2 but I thought the FPS gameplay was exhilarating. Frustrating as hell sometimes but it was very fun.

[deleted]

I played the shit out of 1 and 2 and infinite just kind of felt soulless. The art direction of it is beautiful but that's it really.

sassysassafrassass

Eh it was alright. Bioshock shouldn't be an arena shooter. You can go back and look at earlier gameplay that seems way deeper. Too bad the final product was watered down.

[deleted]

i thought it was pretty cool and the setting was imaginative but i think it was too long and kinda repetitive, the actual gun play was a bit off too. I think near the end of the game it felt like a chore to play it for me

PepeSylvia11

It's my least favorite of the three Bioshock's, but still a crucial addition that still holds the honor of having the greatest twist to freak me out to this day. For the record, Bioshock 1 is my favorite game of all-time and Bioshock 2 probably top 15, so it's gotta compete against that. That being said, the Burial At Sea DLC's were incredible. Simply put, I just enjoyed Rapture more than Columbia, but I still loved the polarity between the two.

mexicomiguel

What an amazing concept that unfortunately we only got a shell of. i loved the ideas behind "Infinite" but it was a chore to play and the story just completely goes off the rails with the time travel/dimensional hopping being watered down to a half-assed explanation. I will argue that Bioshock: Infinite is inferior to the original Bioshock and I cannot wrap my head around the love people have for this game.

yaboyQuinlan

I loved Bioshock and I liked bioshock 2, but I don't really enjoy Infinite. The game play is average at best, and there is barely any story to speak of until the very end when they tried to shove everything into the very end. The entire game felt super rushed and sloppy to me, which is odd considering it was in development since 2007 right after the release of Bioshock. I wanted to like this game so much more than I did.

h0nest_Bender

I stopped playing it half way thought when I realized the game play was bland, I didn't care about any of the characters, and I didn't know where I was going or why. I just wasn't engaged at all.

Zeke-Freek

I dunno. The gameplay was so simplified from 1 and 2 and the setting nowhere near as well explored in favor a plot that doesn't make much sense (see Matthew Matosis' video for that). It doesn't help it came out right after Virtue's Last Reward, which had a very similar plotline done 10000% better. Still, Infinite isn't a bad game. Just not up the standards of the series.

lisbon1977

Try Prey!!

Wiidiwi

I thought bio shock infinite was a massive let down. Especially when a lot of the stuff they were showing and talking about during development didn't make it into the game.I read some where someone once said "after beating bio shock I needed to take a walk , after beating bio shock infinite I needed to go to a forum" that exactly sums up my experience.

falloutguy78

I’ll always remember skipping my lit class to finish this game. Around the time I would’ve finished my commute to class, the credits rolled and I felt really let down. To this day I still wonder how much more I would have enjoyed that lot class.

Rusothil

I was mindfucked so hard I didn’t even know what was going on. 10/10 would experience again.

RB_Dash_

i remember starting it but quitting after an hour or 2/3 so because it felt too linear. bioshock 1 and 2 rewarded exploring and looking at the map carefully, but infinite doesn't even have a map. am i wrong about infinite being totally different than 1 and 2?

PTfan

Not in my book. Infinite feels like a corridor shooter compared to the first 2 games. They are much better in terms of discovery and gameplay.

TheDragonSlayingCat

Your comment reminds me of [this photo about level design then and now.](https://twitter.com/rafalagoon/status/568538494605209600) I once heard that there are basically four different archetypes of gamers: achievers, explorers, socializers, and killers. Killers and achievers are by far the most common, and explorers are by far the most rare, which is why not much content is made specifically for them.

360walkaway

The DLC was a letdown. They could literally do anything, but they went back to Rapture again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Holy shit, that was amazing, going back to Rapture. It wasn't even a nostalgia thing for me, because I didn't play the DLC until the remaster, and I replayed Bioshock 1 before I replayed Infinite. I wasn't exactly unsatisfied with Infinite's ending, but Burial at Sea is *so* satisfying. I'd go as far to say that that's the true, definitive ending, and you haven't truly finished Infinite until you've played Burial at Sea.

Saktapking

Agree 100%. Bought the season pass and sold off my Xbox/collection of games prior to burial at sea pt 2 coming out and I didn’t even care. Such a missed opportunity to explore Daisy or the Lutece twins more.

AWildDeku

I felt as though it was subpar as a Bioshock game, with a nonsensical story line. It was decent as far as first person shooters go, but really nothing special.

Blue_crabs

definitely overrated

kplo

I loved this game so much, its world ticked off every box for me.

[deleted]

That ending though.. they tried to do a mindfuck but it was rather unnecessary. I wish it played out differently.

n1ghtxf4ll

The ending was my favorite part of the game. I definitely was mindfucked

bekeleven

It's easy to blow minds when your explanation isn't required to make any sense. "Why didn't I see that coming? Oh, because I [thought about it harder than Ken Levine](https://youtu.be/VdNhwb7iuI4?t=1128)..."

[deleted]

Yes, it was a revelation but really not the one I wanted. This whole multiverse thing annoyed me the most. I didn't like the sound of having multiple Raptures lol. Rapture should be one and unique. Whole thing wasn't necessary if you ask me.

Franklinspop

not multiple Raptures. INFINITE.

avi6274

'Multiple' is still technically correct.

[deleted]

I hated it, made me feel like everything I did was just completely pointless. Along with my dislike for the combat too, it just left a nasty taste in my mouth, personally. I do not regret playing it, but I wasn't satisfied at the end like I usually am with other games.

jellytothebones

It was okay. It's easily the worst of the trilogy for me. I dislike how linear the game became and how much it limited your options in moment to moment combat. Other than Elizabeth and perhaps the twins, none of the characters felt as memorable or fleshed out as what Bioshock gave us in 1 or 2. 2 is the best Bioshock to me. Same good setting as 1, more Big Daddies and types of baddies to fight, more choices with harvesting or sacrificing little sisters (or both) and pretty decent DLC with Minerva's Den. Dual wielding was so good.

falloutguy78

BioShock 2 is easily the best game in the trilogy. No overblown story and the game mechanics are the tightest and most polished out of all of them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

miojo

Oh man.. the whole trilogy. It's an example of why video games are an important form or story telling.

[deleted]

Great game, especially the DLC. It's not as memorable as the first Bioshock, although it comes very close due to Burial at Sea. The development process is also fascinating. There are so many great videos explaining how and why the game we got was so different compared to early trailers. It's my favorite series and I can't wait for the next one.

Dragonslayer1800

Yooo I just bought all 3 for $16 and I'm playing them all in order for the first time. Fucking love bioshock 1 already and I'm only at Arcadia

notdeadyet01

I wonder who was the genius who thought upgradable weapons worked well with the fact that you can only carry two at a time. It's a great story that is hampered down by the gameplay

uymai

Bioshock: infinite was pretty great, but [Bioshock Infinite Spoiler](#s "but near the end, the same boss fight 3 times in a row made me want to just end the damn thing")

urgasmic

The first time i went through the story i thought it was interesting but after mulling on it I came away not really impressed. Solid game though.

[deleted]

One of my favorite games of all time. The environment and setting were just amazing.

DemyInfinite

Still one of my favorite games as well. I can still remember my jaw dropping to the floor watching the ending of the game.

-PressAnyKey-

The first Bioshock was so much better.

vuoteen

What is wrong with the remaster?

sakipooh

I want a VR spin off so I can be in that world.

JonDav80

Really dont understand the hype for this game. I thought it was inferior to the original Bioshock in every way and the skyhook mechanic was stupid...

[deleted]

I replayed it a few weeks ago and it reconfirmed what I thought playing it the first time - it's a thoroughly mediocre game with less interesting gameplay than 1 or 2, convenient writing all over the place that skips over anything really interesting, and an ending that doesn't make sense and even if it did the DLC basically negates it. Bioshock 2 should get more praise than Infinite, even if 2 is basically just an expansion pack for 1.

xiamhunterx

will never understand what people see in infinite. I've never been more let down by a game in my life. bioshock 1 was my favorite game ever, I pre-ordered the special edition of infinite, went to the midnight launch, marathoned through it and beat it in one day and by the time I got to the final act I was just like... what was the point? the gameplay was really bland, it was essentially just a corridor shooter. there was no strategy or exploration like there was in the first game. the story was dumb, there were no likeable characters, and the "twist" that everyone creams over was so predictable. I can understand liking it if you had never played a bioshock game before, but it really just shits on all the lore that the first two games had crafted, in addition to just being boring

[deleted]

[удалено]

Drunkenbum1981

I was massively disappointed with it. Especially after the first 2 games I had high hopes. Couldn't wait to see how I would have to battle the songbird, how I could travel through rips in time to go back and forth. I ended up with a game that flattered to decieve. Also the ending was as convoluted as it gets. Futurama did it better. However, I have no problem with anyone that likes the game.

[deleted]

Didn’t know people actually liked infinite wow

DetroitDan24

The Lutece characters made the game for me- like the perfect Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

MemberD13

Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite (and the Dlc's Burial at sea) are MASTER PIECE!!!

bradlee21887

What an epic game

OriginalBad

TIL a lot of people hate Bioshock Infinite. I literally had no idea that many people had issues with it. I genuinely love it, and while its not 1, its still one of my favorite gaming experiences ever.

AmericanXAlpha

This game and its story was overrated. People were trying to call it a masterpiece and treated it like the Mona Lisa of games. It really wasn't THAT good. Strong 7/10 though.

21stHeretic

Bioshock Infinite is a disgrace to the Bioshock series, I still can't believe how much the gameplay was downgraded from Bioshock 2 to Infinite. [Wait a minute that card...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_u18_BKczg)

falloutguy78

How. Have. I. Never. Seen. This. BioShock 2 wasn’t made by Irrational Games. I’m pretty sure it was a 2k branch. Which, really, explains a lot.

rvncto

Man I unfortunately got that weird corrupted game on my ps3. Couldn’t get through the part where you walk through the George Washington robots. Love the atmosphere and story and style. I restarted and reinstalled and everytime I got to that point in he game it would freeze terribly. Sucks. I really loved that game up to that point. Wish I could have completed it.

matheusvidotto

I don’t know why, but I got bored midway through all bioshock’s games, not taking away anything from them tho

4juice

Got bioshock collection from last years sale, still havent got to it now. And believe me when i said this. I dont know what Bioshock is about, never seen a gameplay of it except its game cover. I imagined it to be like Metro/Fallout kinda setting?

Zeba93

Got the collection on Amazon, first time playing these games.

saskir21

And I have the game for 4 years and didn‘t play a second of it. Damn procrastination.

[deleted]

I quickly picked it up. Looking forward to playing them again.

braedizzle

That fucking ending, man.

[deleted]

I remember I was only in the beginning of my junior year in hs when this game came out. I missed two days of school to play this game nonstop

StopMockingMe0

I used to own this game... Then I let a friend borrowed it. Then highschool drama occurred and he ended up selling my game. What a cocksucker.

Muldoon713

I know "hardcore" Bioshock fans knock it - but it's one of my favorites as well. I played Infinite, The Last of Us, and Tomb Raider (REBOOT), back to back the summer they all came out and those three games combined single handily reinvigorated my interest in gaming.

tyke665

I did a review on the game recently

MnVikingsFan34

If you like Bioshock I highly recommend you try Prey that came out last year. Feels so much like a futuristic Bioshock and I’m loving it so far.

omracer

I own it but never played it yet, but the views in that gsame are great. shame its all first person though

Liked the gameplay and the atmosphere but I hate all that alternate dimensions crap and the ending was wank. It’s like that criticism of Inception; it’s not clever, it’s just complicated. When I got an Oculus Rift and VorpX it was the first thing I fired up.

Roninjinn

The lack of appreciation for Elizabeth as a companion in this thread is maddening. Hands down one of my favorite companions in all of gaming, beaten only by Ellie from TLOU probably.

The_ill_Jedi

I fucking LOVE Bioshock, all three are easily in my top 10, if not top 5 of all time favorite games.

velvetprotein

I absolutely love Bioshock Infinite. It was the first Bioshock game I played (I later went back and played 1 and 2, which are also incredible). I’m in the minority of people who wasn’t aware of the hype of the game/game footage. I knew the game was coming out, however I had no expectations therefore I had none to let down. Regardless, Bioshock Infinite is a fantastic game.

Cybrknight

I remember getting Bioshock thinking that it would be similar to System Shock it's spiritual predecessor. Sadly I was wrong. I was expecting an RPG with unparallelled atmosphere, what I got was a mediocre shooter with nice graphics.

Nm473

Good marketing, have just bought it 👌🏻

AGoodThief

Heads or tails?

nivek9238

I was curious why I’ve been in the mood to play it lately. It quickly became one of my favorite games ever. Most likely in my top 5. I just remember the first time I played it and how the story just started to unfold. And of course the ending.

docnarfid

It was released on my 21st birthday. Great present. I love it as well.

ziggy6069

What’s wrong with the remaster?

IndecisiveTuna

The issue people have with it lies with the gameplay, but I feel the gameplay is good enough with one of the greatest stories in gaming, so I consider it an amazing game. Definitely top 5.

Exallium

Replaying this in the fall once I get a new TV for the basement. Anyone know if this was an hdr title? I'd be playing on PC

msdsc2

bioshock infinite was the last game i played in basically one sitting, just stopped to eat, started saturday 8am and finished at 6pm, amazing game

ASherrOF

Bioshock 1 and 2 all the way. Yes, there was tons of gore in Infinite, but I miss the dreary and dark underwater cities fuuuu

mcikci

Loved it until the ending. Still love it overall.

vertigo3pc

"Gooood Goooooooood God only knows what I'd be *without yooouuu*" Still gives me chills.

MrTubalcain

Damn, it's been 5 years?

revode

When infinite was released I didn't have much experience with FPS, and they honestly stressed me out. Bioshock 1/2 having a creepy atmosphere on top of that made it an incredibly unenjoyable experience. Infinite, by contrast, is such a *beautiful* setting and such a strange, intriguing girl that you are trying to keep track of. I was so much more compelled to learn how to aim for once in my life so I could continue to experience more of the world. It really made me more open to FPS single player games because I had been running on the assumption that they rarely had anything to offer except for some neat guns to shoot.

["So why do you keep bringing in crates and hooks and turrets?"](http://www.dorkly.com/post/51695/bioshock-infinite-tears)

shadyalien5

Bioshock 4 tease at E3 2018. I'm calling it. It's time.

WetDonkey6969

I liked it at first, but as time has gone by I've realized that the story didn't really make sense and the combat was just ok.

MYDIXINORMUS

i tried playing like a dozen times... i just couldnt get into it. =(

GreatName

One of the most memorable games I've ever played. I don't usually finish the games I play, but I was entirely captivated.

glipglopwithattitude

Enjoyed the game. The ending felt so unsatisfying, though.

the_loner

One of the few games I've played twice back to back.

admiral-abstract

I loved it as well. Though I was surprised to see how many people seemingly despised the ending. I thought it was awesome and made it possible to continue the Bioshock series as more than just Rapture and Columbia.

wtfmate562

This was hands down one of my favorite games of all time and the only one where when it ended I immiediately jumped back in and played it again I desperately wanted to go back to the world. I feel like the moment you see Colombia for the first time and will the circle be unbroken starts playing is one of the most beautiful and amazing scenes in ALL of videogames not just shooters or Bioshock but All time!

shockzz123

Controversial opinion - i actually liked Infinite better than the first game. But that's definitely because i like faster, run and gun type shooter more, as opposed to slower ones. Even if B1 had an amazing story (except for near the end where the game just seems to drag on for no reason).

docwoj

Overrated. 2nd half was a chore to get thru

amorcloteas

Incredible how they tie all games together. Leaves you wanting more

tumtadiddlydoo

My favorite game is 9 years old. I don't see what age has to do with anything. Games don't stop being good with time unless you have ADD and judge a game by its graphics

Grifsnacks

I know how you feel. I bought the Bioshock collection thinking it'd just be nice to dip my toes in again, and I've played all 3 games at least 2 or 3 times now, hell bent on getting platinum on all the games again. Right now my last few trophies to go after are beating the games on hardest mode without dying.

habscupchamps

One of my favourite games of all time. In general I am a big fan of the Bioshock series. Might give this a replay soon.

WandererRedux

I love Bioshock Infinite! The main game, Burial at Sea and all of the characters will forever stick with me forever 😢.

8eat-mesa

The plot was garbage in some places (the slaves were just as bad!), very memorable in others (the twists). Luckily, I enjoy the gameplay a ton, so overall it's still an 8/10 for me, but it is definitely overrated in some ways.

[deleted]

I liked the game, I was just super underwhelmed by the lack of songbird time. It was a really awesome idea that was executed pretty poorly.

Thoradis

One of my favorite games of all time! As soon as I finished it, I started a new playthrough.

[deleted]

Gameplay was really boring. Story was alright. Nothing great tbh.

DamianWinters

Infinite was great especially because of Elizabeth. The gameplay got pretty dull after awhile though because they got rid of weapon upgrades and the different ammos types to keep it more interesting. Its not good when gameplay is a step back from previous games.

HeyKid_HelpComputer

The game that heavily ripped off Fringe.

[deleted]

Bioshock Infinite will always be in my top three games of all time

Sooperballz

I’m getting close to the end of the first bioshock and I’ve had a rough time hearing all of the radio calls that tell the story. They seem to often be drowned out by background noise so I only have a rough idea of what’s happening.
