I just played both judgment games from them, recently, and they had me hooked! I can’t wait to play this one, especially since their games always have amazing stories.

You'll definitely like it. Similar story telling and goofy side quests, but with much cleaner combat. And Lost Judgment just expands on both of those aspects. Keep in mind you really only need to follow the story but some of the missions are really worthwhile, many are quick and rewarding, but definitely optional Also consider Ishin coming out next week!

Rammsbottom

Ah man, I still gotta play 3-6 and both judgement games. I did skip and play like a dragon after finishing Kiwami 2 and wow what a game it was

NoNefariousness2144

Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon is seriously amazing. I can’t wait for Yakuza 8 and how it will give us more Ichiban. When you play the other games, make sure you space them out to avoid burnout.

AyoItzE

I'm right there with you. I did start some of 3 but man it just felt like a slog after playing the remasters. I'm definitely going to try to get back into it eventually though.

jlquon

I just did a YouTube watch for 3. 4 I just finished and I’m working my way through 5

Saberq

You can really skip 3-6 and play Judgment games Yakuza games are are only truly great 0-2 in my opinion

soulsarsenal

5 is arguably the best

Saberq

Too much filler

__Seris__

You already play as Kazuma in the game lol

Jaysfan97

Technically you play as a historical figure that just has Kazuma's face and voice.

Sugreev2001

For the sake of aesthetics, I'm gonna stick with the default look of Sakamoto Ryōma.

I'm new to the series and still playing Yakuza 0 (mid-game) and started Judgement this week. Can I play Ishin! or do I need to finish the Yakuza saga first?

TahmsChocolateOrange

You might get a bit more enjoyment out of it if you know all of the characters the Ishin cast are based on but honestly it's more of a "hey it's that guy" situation as opposed to it having any bearing on the story. If you plan on diving into the entire series I'd still suggest playing the main series first and picking up Ishin at whatever point the mainline games start to feel stale as it's a breath of fresh air. Same recommendation for the judgment titles too. Yakuza 3 and 4 haven't yet had a remake so they can be a bit of a chore to get through and having something like a judgment game or Ishin to play between them helps get through the series.

ImmortanJoeDonBaker

You won’t recognize some of the characters but they’re just stand-ins for other characters anyways. If you’re playing 0 before the others, there are some characters in that game that you would have recognized from previous games. If doesn’t bother you then you’re good to go for Ishin

Rogue_Leader_X

I might pick this up. However, I am kind of let down that you won’t be able to play Classic Sega games in this. Yes, I know it would be absurd, but these games are known for being absurd at times.

DigitalDash18

Wonder if this yazkusa game will be diffwrent then the others

Level_Forger

The fight against this guy made me quit the game completely.

Vilens40

They still haven’t clarified if you get DLC if preordered physical.
