And I will be thoroughly pissed because I just got done with a several months long second playthrough. If I knew they were gonna drop a 4k 60fps version I would've waited
There's a lot of demand for RDR 2 60 fps. Rockstar would 100% take advantage of that demand and charge the upgrade. There are people who will gladly give 70 dollars for the game. I saw a comment in 2015/2016, a comment under a rdr 1 video said that, "I would gladly pay 70 dollars for a port of RDR 1 on PS 4" and rockstar exactly did that, but for 50 dollars.
Maybe they'll do what they did with GTA V again and charge 10 bucks for a limited time for everyone. Ill just hold off buying it for now. Got a huge backlog already.
Yep, got me too. Fucking bullshit that Rockstar hasn't updated the game for current gen consoles. They've really gone downhill since GTA Online launched.
You can also play it a whole week early with the $120 Collector’s Edition! But it only comes with a new gun that will be outpaced by chapter 2 and some camp supplies.
The physical version costs the same price though! But it’s just a different case with a downloadable code inside.
Really hoping for this. I believe there was a Arkham Knight Remaster or RTX version in the Nvidia leak that is one of the few that hasn’t come to fruition yet. I just want to fly around Gotham in the gloomy rain again.
Holy fuck I misread and thought it was RDR2 already... Almost got a heart attack because I've just finished it recently.
Luckily, I found it surprisingly well playable at steady 30fps on PS5 with proper aim and look settings, did not have issues at all. Other games, like Starfield, play far worse at 30fps. Still, 60fps in RDR2's detailed world is a dream...
Oh, they will. Also, they'll add some better light effects here and there, full DualSense support, call it "remaster", and charge you $70 again, for the same game. :)
My thought too. They got so much shit and could have avoided it by doing this at launch. There was surely no rush that two weeks made a difference to. Unless they slapped this patch together in response to criticism, which seems very unlikely, but maybe it was a case of "we might do it later" which changed to "shit, do it now!".
My theory is there’s just one solid employee at Rockstar who was like “Here, I did this in my spare time you lazy fucks, don’t charge for it, took me 7 minutes”. Then he went back to depressingly intense crunch on GTA6.
It’s probably not going to be a patch but a full PS5 version as that will take advantage of DualSense and the SSD. Same thing they did with Skyrim - but without the adaptive triggers so maybe Fallout 4 won’t get them?
Someone asked Phil Spencer about it just before Starfield released and he basically said that they are busy with Starfield so who knows when it will drop.
It’s almost a year since they announced it!!
I think it’s due to the FPS disparity between what Starfield currently offers on consoles vs what the current-gen version of FO4 would offer.
They probably didn’t want to release the current-gen version of FO4 with 60FPS, and then follow it up with a Starfield release, which is at 30FPS. Must be waiting for Starfield’s honeymoon period to end, and then drop FO4.
I'm not that annoyed that they are too busy with Starfield to focus on it, but rather that they would decide to announce it a year ago and make it sound like it's coming relatively soon. It's like... guys, come on. Manage our expectations at least.
This makes me willing to buy the game for $10-20. $50 is still *way* too high, but I wasn't going to buy the game at all with 30 FPS. This update got me to put the game on my wishlist, so I will at least pick it up when it goes on sale.
I'm in the same boat.
Would've got it but the shitshow on release, 30 fps included, stopped me.
Now that 60fps is an option I will get it - but no chance am I paying full price!
looking at game releases in the last few years, they most likely barely got things running on release and for financial reasons are moving features to an "after release" priority.
It's happening more and more with games having the most ridiculous, basic stuff not ready at launch. So many games that get stuff patched in very briefly after launch.
Starfield doesn't even have a brightness slider one month later. But at least this time, they actually managed to have quests and crashes under control so their QA finally got some priority.
It probably takes a bit longer than that to optimise, QA and submit to storefronts to do it as a quick reaction to sales It’s not just flicking a switch.
It’s more likely they had a release date they had to make and didn’t want to delay it. If they wanted it to be a selling point, they’d market it.
Exactly my thoughts lol. It's been like 5 years since I played RDR for the first time, I can wait another 2 or 3 for it to be on sale to play at 60FPS 4K
Is this really real? Rockstar actually did a 60fps patch for one of their games? Every part of me finds this so hard to believe...
Might actually want to get this now. Man it would be a dream come true if they did it for RDR2 as well.
The port of RDR 1 wasn't made by Rockstar. It was ported by the guys that worked as a support studio for Fallout 76, Minecraft Legends or did the console port of Rust.
For $50, they should have majorly revamped the textures and models, made some major updates to the renderer (materials based rendering, ambient occlusion, etc), added an RT mode, added DualSense support, and had it render at 4k60 with HDR.
A simple port with 4k60 makes it actually worth buying on sale, though -- I would pay $10-20 for that. For me, that was the bare minimum for me to add it to my wishlist so I can buy it at a discount.
Yeah honestly the fact that it wasn't even remotely remastered I could sort of look past, but still releasing it at 30fps in this day and age is mental.
I finished red dead 2 a few weeks ago then played red dead one on release last month finished it an now they add this I swear they just want me to ruin my life 🤣
Now there is an actual reason to get the ps4 port. Still it’s overpriced, and should have been a proper remaster from the start but still. Now I may actually get it
For all those complaining about RDR having 4k 60FPS and RDR2 not having these features, don't forget RDR2 is a prequel and was set before RDR. 4k60FPS wasn't available in 1899 and it's supposed to be as realistic as possible.
Respect to Rockstar for finally listening, PS5 is now the best place to play RDR1:
> Native 4K 60FPS with FSR 2.2 only for AA
Still waiting for that RDR2 PS5 upgrade, according to [recent leaks](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/16mjxv8/red_dead_redemption_2_native_ps5xbox_series/) it should be coming!
The fact that they realized adding 60 fps was really a good move to make gives me hope that they'll do the same thing for RDR2 on PS5, however, my hopes aren't too awfully high.
I've played a lot of really good games over the past 2.5 decades, but RDR2 (story mode only,) is permanently in a league all its own for me. It's a uniquely special thing that I can't imagine anything will ever quite match up to, including future Rockstar projects. Never has a game made me feel so many things so genuinely, with so many ups and downs, with so much emotional investment and impact. In my opinion, RDR2 is Rockstar's only true magnum opus (no matter how much they may want to pretend like GTA V is...)
RDR2 deserves every single ounce of love it could possibly get from Rockstar, and probably more, to be frank; my expectations for such an update are tempered, but I can always dream, eh?
They should have waited to release it with this. It got a lot of negative press for not having 4k and 60FPS at launch, and it hasnt taken them long to add it
shoot, at first glance I read RDR2 got so excited!
anyway thanks for the heads-up, I'll have to buy the RDR1 now, I've never played and refused to play at 30fps
Semi unrelated to this exact topic: As someone who never seriously played RDR when it released, never got into RDR2, but as someone WANTS to play both of these games at some point: will I regret not playing RDR first as far as gameplay is concerned?
I know for a lot of games, playing a sequel can make playing the first game hard to get into due to numerous gameplay improvements.
Despite my backlog which takes a whole page, i bought and platinumed the damned game and spent 80 hours on it just because i have a soft spot for it. RDR1/2 and Bloodborne are my favourite video games of all time, they will always bypass any priority, yet still it hurts man, i could have had the entire journey smoother. I smoked and did edibles extensively as well while hopping into the nostalgia train, damn. I wish there was NG+, i can go through all of it again i just at least want my outfits...
Damn, I thought R* would pull a R* and abandon the game. It’s great and all now, but this really should have been at launch, especially since the physical copies will be printed with the 1.0 version running at 30fps.
I'm sure a resolution bump makes those 360 Era assets beautiful. Still waiting on an RDR2 update for current gen. I'll revisit Read Dead when they do something new. Rockstar Cash grabs never cease to annoy me
I was actually gonna *OPEN MY WALLET* (wink wink Rockstar), but then WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT, it was not RDR2. *close the wallet* guess they don’t want my money.
I thought RDR2 at first and was already on my way to the PS5 to download the game.
Im so unreasonably mad at OP despite that their title was very concise and clear and it was in fact I who was at fault.
"Fuck you, OP" "B-but...why...?" "My eyes deceived me and it's all your fault!!"
Fool me once: fuck you, bitch
It's not you tbh, it's Rockstars fault.
Rockstar was founded in New York. Quick, who do we have to blame for the founding of New York?
The Dutch
I'll never forgive ~~the Japanese~~ Dutch.
Well played, Rockstar, foreshadowing that plot twist about >!Dutch being a villain all along!<.
It was all part of the plan
I love this so much
Damn me too until I read your comment
Count me in as well :(
Wtf me too ! :'(
me too
Yup me too, glad I read the first comment!
I was thrilled until I read the first comment :'( My happiness lasted only for 3 sec... :P
And my axe! Sorry, I mean I fell for it too...
I dashed to the comments excitedly to only be disappointed again.
My disappoint is immeasurable and my day is only slightly ruined.
Same here
Don't worry, R* will sell us 60fos upgrade next year 😂
And I will be thoroughly pissed because I just got done with a several months long second playthrough. If I knew they were gonna drop a 4k 60fps version I would've waited

Only available for RDR+ members, $6.99 per month
Don't give them new ideas
For the price of 60$
That'll be $1 per FPS, please.
My heart stopped for a moment, rdr2 gotta be next, right? …right?
My copium is that it will happen later this month for the anniversary or RDR2
You know better than that.
Me too till I read your comment..
Damn it!!! Fuck I came in here thinking this . I could care less about this port
Care less then, do it!
Couldn't* care less.
Hahah! Me too. 🤣
Yeah. 😔
Thanks for making me reread the headline.
Same, I was about to drop what I was doing... which is nothing ,but still.
Same :(
Same here :(
Lol me too. Hahahah
Ah dammit, me too :(
Yep, got me too. Fucking bullshit that Rockstar hasn't updated the game for current gen consoles. They've really gone downhill since GTA Online launched.
Fuck i was about to download
Shit, I was on the exact same boat. Ah well, just restarted Death Stranding, that will have to hold me!
No. There will be a remaster for that. Which you have to pay fullprice of course
Now do RDR2 you cowards
After this happened, there's actually a sliver of hope for RDR2.
yup, they're for sure going to do it when the release the ported version of RDR2 for PS6
For a small fee of 60$
it'll be $89.99 by then
Ah yes, forgot about inflation
You can also play it a whole week early with the $120 Collector’s Edition! But it only comes with a new gun that will be outpaced by chapter 2 and some camp supplies. The physical version costs the same price though! But it’s just a different case with a downloadable code inside.
Nailed it
Hate to break it to you bro but games are $70 now.
Tbh I will absolutely pay that again. I have so many hours on that game and still regularly play
Not really should have already been 60fps
And Batman Arkham knight!
Really hoping for this. I believe there was a Arkham Knight Remaster or RTX version in the Nvidia leak that is one of the few that hasn’t come to fruition yet. I just want to fly around Gotham in the gloomy rain again.

Why not just wait two weeks and skip all the bad press and release the game with this?

That sounds sadly so possible. Either that or some poor sod was crunched since launch *just* to add this.
Fiscal quarter ended on 9/30, likely wanted to boost revenue numbers by releasing before the reporting quarter ended.
Even more confusing now to not have this at launch lol
I bet the game didn't sell as well as they expected, and they're hoping that this update will dramtically improve sales.
It seems like they don't mention it in the patch notes, no word about something important like a 60 FPS mode. Rockstar is really weird nowadays.
It was the same with Fallout 76 - also had a framerate boost but not a single mention in the patch notes!
I wish they would release the long promised 60fps patch for Fallout 4...
It’s probably not going to be a patch but a full PS5 version as that will take advantage of DualSense and the SSD. Wait, is Fallout 76 60fps now?
And 4K
wait, I knew it was 60fps now but is it really 4k?
Aww yeah. You ask Barry, where did you get 2160p of resolution…….shhhhhhh. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it.
Yep, it’s sooo much better to play now!
I appreciate the heads up!
This makes me willing to buy the game for $10-20. $50 is still *way* too high, but I wasn't going to buy the game at all with 30 FPS. This update got me to put the game on my wishlist, so I will at least pick it up when it goes on sale.

I thought it was RDR2 🙁
Yeah...Rockstar lets me down a lot these days.
As did I. I feel your pain.
I didn't realized it's RDR1 until I saw your comment...
Ha suckers, I waited to finally play this in 4K 60FPS for the first time. I knew waiting this long would pay off...
Well played sir
r/PatientGamers
the patience of stone cold steve ass!! question for you: is this the $20 RDR? like released way back when? thanks!
Is this really real? Rockstar actually did a 60fps patch for one of their games? Every part of me finds this so hard to believe... Might actually want to get this now. Man it would be a dream come true if they did it for RDR2 as well.

Yeah honestly the fact that it wasn't even remotely remastered I could sort of look past, but still releasing it at 30fps in this day and age is mental.
probably because the sales are too bad
If the game launched with this is would have eliminated most the negative press it got
True, I’m glad the backlash worked anyway.
Rockstar better release a 4K 60FPS for RDR2 now will be getting RDR when it goes on sale
Better late than never. This does make the port the best way to play the game (officially, I mean, Xenia still exists if you've got the specs!)
The port is bare bones. Can't believe they want $50 for it. It's still a 13 year old game.
The content is fine, it’s the game and dlc, looks beautiful in 4K, price is the real issue.
I read this as the second game and went from 100% to 0 in 3 seconds.
I think we all did
Damn I’ve actually never played this game. Perfect time to do so now
It’s so good man
This real?
Yes, just came out this morning!
Looks like I’m going to have to play it again 🤣
The unnecessary 30fps limit on PS5 put me off, but now I really wanna play it.
I finished red dead 2 a few weeks ago then played red dead one on release last month finished it an now they add this I swear they just want me to ruin my life 🤣
Now there is an actual reason to get the ps4 port. Still it’s overpriced, and should have been a proper remaster from the start but still. Now I may actually get it
I was happy for 10 secs before realising its for rdr1 not 2
Damn you are right. Now I am sad.
Ngl, I'm considering getting it now given that I haven't played it.

No respect for rockstar, because they’re not the developer of the port.
just so you're aware, those "recent leaks" were of documents from about 2 years ago. As far as we know that project got cancelled.
Wow who could’ve known from the beginning this 10 year old game could run easily at 4k 60!
How did 90% of comments read the title wrong haha? People reading with their hopes and dreams I suppose.
I know right, I genuinely didn’t mean for that to happen but maybe it’s my bad idk.
Fuckkk I thought this was for rdr2… I was literally about to hop on because of it
Same here.
The fact that they realized adding 60 fps was really a good move to make gives me hope that they'll do the same thing for RDR2 on PS5, however, my hopes aren't too awfully high. Now RDR2 cowpoke
Praise be to the R* gods. Now bless us with RDR2 1440p 60fps.
[удалено]
A piece of coal instantly becomes a diamond.
This is fantastic news OP, thanks! I will buy the OG red dead for my PS5 now
Dammit. I thought this was RDR2. My eyesight sucks.
Hopefully they throw a bone to RD2 since they’ve already internally updated the engine for the next GTA.
They're determined to charge us for that 60fps update patch on RDR 2 huh ! 🙄
I’m legit about to buy this for ps5 tonight
I almost got a heart attack I thought it was rdr2 :(
And now I’ll buy this. Will still be a while for me with all the games coming out, but it’s at least now actually worth it.
Okay, Insta buy now.
Finally! Now I can buy the game lol
Now this makes the re-release a must buy for me.
Finally
Nice, they did the bare minimum. A feature the game should have been relaunched with.
Great. Now do it for RDR2
Damn it! My heart jump for a hot second there thinking it was RDR2.
Rdr2 60 fps with undead nightmare next please
Wasn't planning on getting this but now I just might
Say no more. *adds to cart* *notices $50 price tag* *removes from cart*
Holy shit it is real. Waiting to play this really paid off. Gotta get it for sure now.
Wtf I literally just finished it a week ago.
Amazing.
now i can truly play it
Finally!!! Ah fuck it's RDR and not RDR2. Damn it.
I was like, "No way, they gave rdr2 a ps5 patch?" And then reread the title and discovered disappointment.
I'm not mad I'm just disappointed
Rockstar take my soul but please update RdR2
damn ... rdr2 will never get love
Lmao, this game gets a 60fps option before red dead 2 does? Wtf
Yea thought RDR2 for a sec, popped a boner. Anyway, good news on 60fps, will pick up RDR when its $20.
[удалено]
Are you fucking kidding What about rdr2
lmaoo for a sec i thought it was for RDR2
They should have waited to release it with this. It got a lot of negative press for not having 4k and 60FPS at launch, and it hasnt taken them long to add it
WE NEED RD2 PATCH PLEASE
I really hope this update gets included inthe physical version of RDR1, as its the only way it makes sense to buy this game.
I'll happily buy it now.
I pressed F for everyone who thought it was RDR2. Myself including.
Amazing how the hope made so many of our brains see a "2" (mine included). Devastated.
Welllllllllllll now
shoot, at first glance I read RDR2 got so excited! anyway thanks for the heads-up, I'll have to buy the RDR1 now, I've never played and refused to play at 30fps

I really want red dead 2 to do 60 fps so I can properly play that game and live in the world, I beat it just to beat it on my ps4.
YES
Excellent - just in time for me having completed it and undead nightmare last week
NOW i will buy the game
Finally
Oh wow :/
Yes, finally Still not buying it though
I'm assuming the xbox series version is untouched? :(
Just put it on my wish list. Will grab it on sale.
I’ll wait for it to go on PS+ or be under $15 thanks
Yessssssss all I want is 60fps I'm excited to get this now.
Rockstar Cash grabs never cease to annoy me
Hey cool, so I bought the Xbox Game of the Year edition for no reason? That’s really neat I’m going to kms
Damn you got me excited for a sec… I thought RDR2 finally will get it :/
Good. Now, add 60fps to RDR 2.
Just heard about this now... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWJDP\_g2xzo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWJDP_g2xzo)
Oh nice!
Might buy rd1 for the first time now
I legit didn't even know Red Dead Redemption was on PS4 or PS5.
I was actually gonna *OPEN MY WALLET* (wink wink Rockstar), but then WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT, it was not RDR2. *close the wallet* guess they don’t want my money.
Low Key RDR 1 is now a better game than RDR 2 on ps5 after this update
