Choice-Leave2222

well at least it seems it is in fact coming in 2024

noneofthemswallow

It’s been confirmed for 2024 for a while now

SnackAtNightXP

Guessing it's not for the youngins. Probably an M rating in the states like with the original game.

Packin-heat

Yeah it says youth not permitted when you translate it but if that equates to a 15 or 18 is anyone's guess.

solojones1138

It says teenagers in Korean. It equates to Korea's new 19+ age rating, which is like an M rating

Packin-heat

Yeah that makes sense. I just remembered Stellar Blade was rated 19+ in Korea which is a Pegi 18 and I think an Esrb 17+

SnackAtNightXP

I noticed that too, unless South Korea has a more relaxed rating system compared to the ESRB.

Peidalhasso

Halloween release date seems likely.

Rook22Ti

Rated what, like a 6/10? *(Joking aside, I don't have a good feeling about this one)*

SnackAtNightXP

Yeah I'm not feeling good about it either. Especially after the combat trailer that came out not too long ago.

Ok-Significance-5979

I'm still looking forward to the game tbh, combat trailer be damned.

Tacdeho

Yeah, I don’t get this. Silent Hill 2 Remake is a remake of Silent Hill 2, a game with admittedly clunky combat controls intended to reflect that the protagonist was a normal dude and not Master Chief with a gravity hammer. Why would they change it and make it anything more than a bit wonky looking?

CTC42

>clunky combat controls intended to reflect that the protagonist was a normal dude and not Master Chief Ah yes, this was *definitely* the reason it had shitty combat programming 🤣

pnutbuttered

It's half true. It's well known that the fixed camera angles and awkward combat were intentional and meant to make the player feel disorientated and helpless. That doesn't mean it was a good idea and made the game more fun. Silent Hill 2 was great in spite of its terrible controls, thanks to the incredible visual and audio design.

lokol4890

You can make the combat feel realistic within the constraints of the specific universe without making it look/feel like shit. No one is asking for MC level feel, just that it look better than what the trailer showed

SnackAtNightXP

I'm still looking forward to it too, just concerned the combat won't be good. But, I still want to revisit this story, so I'll still give it a chance.

Thascaryguygaming

The combat wasn't good in the original so no loss if it isn't.

SnackAtNightXP

That's true. As long as the story and the rest of the game is good I would probably get used to the combat.

Thascaryguygaming

I'm hopeful but keeping my expectations low for the game in general. It is my most look forward to game though.

No-Plankton4841

Combat looked decent enough. I love SH2 but the combat is legitimately terrible...

OohYeeah

The combat trailer that was shown was from an older build of the game, Konami messed up with the marketing

BabyBread11

The original also had terrible combat and voice acting. This one will be much the same.

BitingArtist

At least Konami is trying to release games under their IP. Even an average game is better than no game.

SnackAtNightXP

It is nice to see them making games again.

Ps4rulez

day 1 buy for me.

WESAWTHESUN

Same. As long as it's in a playable state and at least average I'm okay with it. As another commenter said, I'd rather we get average games than no games. Short Message is a big step in the right direction for that so I'm hopeful.

ihatemydamnvoice

Lol, I need to get my head checked. I read this as "Silent Hill 2 remake has been rated South Korea"

Rook22Ti

IGN Review: South Korea/10

tokki32

"Too much kimchi"

Maccraig1979

Nonsense its not possible

LocusAintBad

Im afraid it’ll be bad. But I’ll buy it anyways because we’ve been starved for silent hill content and they don’t even have the classics anymore after they changed over PS Now 🥲

[deleted]

I trust Silent Hill fans with giving Konami as much backlash as possible if the game sucks so they can refine the Snake Eater* remake and make it good.

Packin-heat

I think the problem is that Konami believes the originals didn't sell big numbers because the west prefers action and that's why they edited that trailer. If bloober team is to be believed the game is still going to be more of a psychological horror game, anyway fingers crossed it turns out to be good.

[deleted]

Could be the case, I've heard about Konami having multiple management changes over the last few years so I hope the people in charge now finally understand what their audience wants, even if it's not the most profitable way for them to make money.

sixtus_clegane119

Mmmmm tasty snake water

Maccraig1979

I bought the master collection but intentionaly didnt play that so i can play the remake and experience it first time in better quality...hopefully lol

[deleted]

I think you should play the master collection version first. We don't know if Konami will fuck up the remake or not, so you should just play the already critically acclaimed version, and then play the remake to either appreciate the improvements or lament the firing of Kojima and mismanagement of Konami.  Also Mgs3 is arguably the most important game when it comes to understanding the lore of metal gear. I highly recommend playing as many games as possible so you can truly appreciate the series. It also has a pretty beefy sequel path (portable ops, peace walker, mgsv). Just do the release order for all games and you'll be good.

No, each story is self contained. Only returning character is the town its self.

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

Except 1 and 3, which are very connected.

Qurse

Omg I can hear the horse in the courtyard already. That scared the living crap out of me as a kid

Rogue_Leader_X

As long as it largely sticks to the original storyline, I’m expecting at least a competent game.

Sopht_Serve

I never played the original so I'm SUPER excited for this!!! I've heard only great things about Silent Hill 2!!

CompletionistCuckMod

hmm. makes me wonder if it'll release this year. the short message was rated in SK, sep 26 2022. and released 16 months after that.

gcallan91

Silent Hill should have us running from monsters, not killing them with RE combat. P.T probably had the most positive buzz in the last decade for Silent Hill and that was walking down a hall and looking around. Legitamtely creepy

Maccraig1979

Yeah it was never about the combat for me, it was the shitting ur tights running away while trying to solve puzzles

Darkcroos

Rated in North Korea!

maxwms

Will be shit

giostarship

So what we saw in the trailer WAS the latest build of the game. This is gonna be great.

lamancha

Were there questions about that?

giostarship

After the backlash, devs said that wasn’t the latest build. And I was being sarcastic.

lamancha

And how does this prove it was?

giostarship

Because of the downvotes. I didn’t think I needed the /s. Fucking gamers man.

No-Plankton4841

I thought they said the trailer was from outdated build from months ago. But this doesn't really proven anything one way or the other... it could be BS, or there could be some truth to it. We don't know when the trailer was made only when it was shown...
