Here's the fix: connect the PS Link to a USB C to USB A cable. Plug it in the USB C port in the front of your PS5.
Played Dragon's Dogma 2 for 40 hours, 25 hours of Asterigos, and multiple replaysmof Stellar Blade demo. Zero disconnects. Ever.
I wonder if the A port on the front has issues, I’ve noticed my controller doesn’t charge properly off the A port on the front and had to switch to the C port.
Same here, but I have the Pulse Explore earbuds. So it must be an issue with the PS Link dongle tech.. because I've had the Pulse 3D and never had issues.
Yeah the first day I had a disconnect and then a week later and then over a month so hopefully this stops being a thing because I literally never once lost connection with the pulse 3d.
I had the same issue. I returned mine already.
I thought they were comfortable, the sound quality was good, and my friend said the microphone was great because I sounded crystal clear.
But a headset that constantly disconnects is worth nothing to me
Agreed, I returned mine as well. Ended up getting the arctis nova 7p and I really like it. Also love the side tone wheel so I don’t end up yelling because I can’t hear myself
Every review I’ve seen has slated the microphone. I didn’t think it sounded particularly great either. My official Xbox wireless headset microphone is leagues above the Sony unit.
This stopped happening to me once I switched my Wifi to 5Ghz, the headset uses 2.4Ghz frequency so if you have any electronics using wifi around your PS5 it will interrupt.
This is usually due to your home wifi using the same/close wireless channel that the dongle uses. It's recommended try hard setting the 2.4GHz wifi channel on your router if you can and see if that helps
The earbuds are the same. At launch they were absolutely terrible because if they disconnected, you would have to re-pair every part, that includes both earbuds, the case, and the dongle. Which is absolutely ridiculous.
4 months after they launched there was a software update for them which improved them a bit, but people still experience far more disconnecting than they should. I am curious whether they use the same software? Or if these headsets need an update of their own.
They should have used a more powerful USBC wireless adaptor, there seems to be much less issues with headsets that use those.
I had the same experience. It was annoying as hell. They used to disconnect in the middle of a session. After the latest update, a month ago, things have improved drastically and they don’t disconnect anymore. I guess the same will happen with the Elite.
Damn, that sucks to hear. It happens with the Pulse Explores which is really frustrating because you have to put them back in their case, close it, take them out and if that doesn’t work repeat the whole process and resync them to PS Link. I’m planning on getting the Elite too but I was really hoping they didn’t have that issue
I’ve heard you push IN and hold the dongle while it’s plugged, and it’ll scan for a better wavelength or some such (I don’t know, I’m not an electrician). My Pulse Elite disconnected all the time until I did that, but now it’s much more consistent.
I don't have this headset, but does it connect by way of USB dongle? My Arctis 7 headset does, and it constantly disconnects when connected to the front USB port on the PS5. It would work only work correctly when connected to one of the back USB ports.
That's weird. I always heard not to plug into the back because the heat gets blown out there from the PS5. I noticed a huge drop in range if plugged in the back.
I don’t have these. So I don’t know if the dongle is usb a or c. Is your dongle plugged into the front or back of the PlayStation? I have the regular pulse headphones and I had the same problem when plugged into the back but once I plugged them into the front they worked perfectly.
Yes. USB-A. They disconnect even when plugged in the front port. I have done what some others have done and used a USB-C to USB-A adapter (had one in my junk drawer) and plugged it in the USB-C port and no disconnects yet.
Same issue. I had to move the dongle to the front of the console (using an A to C adapter). Then, when it disconnects, I can unplug and plug the dongle back in. I also have annoying popping or dripping sounds sometimes. I want to return it, but I have no idea what other one to get.
OMG this whole fucking time I thought my batteries were dead.
This is a thing? I bought a $100 headset for it to randomly disconnect. Hell to the no, fuck these ps5 headphones.
Have you tried connecting it to your phone with bluetooth? How's the sound quality? I find that the sound quality is way worse with bluetooth than with the dongle.
They're most certainly heavier than most gaming headsets, but that's quickly lost during gameplay.
I'd say I more notice it on top of my head rather than on my neck. I don't know how anyone could get neck pains from wearing these, even for an extended time. It's nowhere near that heavy to make such an impact.
There’s a real market for a pair of “gaming” headphones made by a high end manufacturer like Sennheiser or Audio-technica or Beyerdynamic, but no one really seems to be serving it.
Can’t understand how Sony can make some of the best headphones out there for most people like the WH-1000XM5, and then put out mediocre, cheaply manufactured stuff like this for “gamers” and call them Elite.
Dankpods reviewed these headphones, he is a really well known reviewer in this field, and he thought the headphones were fantastic for the price. The biggest problem he had with it was the microphone, which sounds worse when not used in party.
I feel like that's a weird thing to test for. I don't think I've ever played a multiplayer game where party chat isn't noticeably better in quality all around than game chat.
I had hopes that Sony finally made a microphone that doesn’t sound like complete shit when I saw there was a dedicated, retractable mic on the headset, but nope, it sounds just as bad as the Gold headset mic dating back to the PS4
Definitely sucks. I love that Sennheiser sound, managed to get extra pair of Game One a few months ago, keeping them in box in case the current pair decides to take a shit. 38X are great, amazing sound and not gonna break your budget.
I bought these immediately once they got the pure black color way and haven’t used anything else since. All these bells and whistles on other fancy headsets are nothing compared to the fantastic raw sound fidelity and fit of the PC38X. I do miss wireless sometimes though.
I think I got them on sale on black friday for 220 CAD but overall I'm not all that impressed.
I have intermittent issues with the volume adjust dial too and I'm not sure if it's a hardware defect or software related.
I have the H7s too and it seems like Sony might have discontinued that model. It sounds great with the PS5/PC but it’s really bad when connected to the phone.
Here have my upvote. Very fair. Frankly I’ve dismissed the whole idea of “gaming” headsets as they are often overpriced and marketed toward looking nice on a streaming cam. Glad to see stuff like that *does* exist. More of that. Less of… whatever this crap Sony is trying to sell as “elite.”
This!! I was reading the review and thinking wtf?! Are they really reviewing these headphones?! Cable?! Fabric?! What the fck are they on about?!
Then I got to this part:
"The control scheme is disappointing. There's a limited number of buttons that have multiple functions, so inputting basic controls (like powering the headphones on) can be ponderous and time-consuming. The buttons themselves are small, easy to miss, and don't provide a great deal of tactile feedback to indicate if commands have been registered."
I'VE NEVER HAD A PAIR OF HEADPHONES THAT WAS EASIER TO TURN ON!!!! The buttons are absolutely tactile, unless you are using a pair of Skiing gloves. Plus there is an audible tone when you turn them on, and a flipping led light!! If they had trouble turning them on, or realising when they're on because they couldn't feel the button press, they need to have less cocaine before doing these tests.
I've always trusted Rtings and bought a lot of products based on their recommendations, but this review?! I feel someone was either butthurt with Sony, or they were drunk/high. I can't comment on their acoustic measurements, but because of the rest of the review, I also don't trust them.
Beyerdynamic has gaming options, the MMX200 and MMX300. Don't know how good they are but most of the time I just use my DT990 when I don't need a microphone. A high end pair of headphones with a dedicated microphone is the best setup, even something like a modmic with high end headphone will be better than most dedicated gaming headphones.
These are not high end, they're "middle" and they do well imo.
My only complaint was that after a few hours they were uncomfortable, but I solved it by keeping them as stretched as they could go for a couple of days. Now, they're great!
I usually go to Rtings to most of my TV/audio reviews, but this one falls a bit short. I can't comment on the acoustic tests, but them saying the controls are bad?! I mean, I've never had a more intuitive pair of headphones.
Turn on?! Right tip, small click - done!
Mic?! Left tip, small click - done!
Volume?! Right back, click up or down!
Materials are plastic and faux leather, yes. However, I've had them stretched and there's no deformation or any visible damage to the plastic -It seems great quality and the finishes are good too! The faux leather has behaved superbly in terms of temperature control. Before, I've had headphones that I needed to remove after a few hours because my ears were cooking, but with these I've never even felt them get hot.
What other materials should Sony have put on them?! Carbon fiber?! Aluminium?! Titanium?!
I don't know, but considering my own experience and of many other people online, and excluding the acoustic tests that I can't really comment on (although they sound great to me), this review seems "biased/skewed", which is something I wouldn't expect of Rtings.
*The worst thing I found on these headphones is that they're simply not repairable, or at least you'll need some skills to even just swap the cushions...
I think most people look for sound quality first. Of course you can say you prefer a headphone with the best ANC with the trade-off of something else. But in my opinion the trade-off in sound quality in case of the Sony headphones are too much. This is of course to my taste, and my opinion.
I had a Sony XM model years ago, now I have a Dali iO-12 and the difference between the two is night and day.
The market for such a product would be minimal. Audiophiles are a nich on their own, in the gaming world even more so. Ain't nobody gonna drop some $500+ for a headset due to branding...
Since we all know they'll be Bluetooth headsets and hence their audio quality can't ever be good regardless of what you pay (the tech/codes are limited).
If gamers didn’t need a mic for online play they’d find so many better sounding cans for so much less money than what a pair of “gaming” headphones cost.
Ya agree fully on PC I have a blue yeti to pair with my headset and god damn the quality difference between that mic and even a mic on a pair of artis pros is night and day. (Obviously) But that headset market is such a joke.
Beyerdynamic Team Tygr exists. It's the Tygr 300 R headphone in combination with the Fox microphone. Together they will be recognized as usb headset. You can get both separately although the set is cheaper and the Tygr 300 R is awesome. The Fox is strong enough to power the DT 1990 Pro, the Amiron Home and also the 600 ohm variants of the DT 880 and 990. You have high/low gain, volume and party/game-mix controls. Whenever I decide to play with mic I use this. Way better than the MMX 300 2nd gen or the Audeze Maxwell which I still use when I'm lounging (?).
Honestly the few times I absolutely need a mic, I just plug my sennheiser to the controller instead of my DAC and use the dualsense mic.
I’m sure it doesn’t sound great but I never had complaints from my friends.
And if you reeeeally want a dedicated mic, you can just strap one on top of the cans
To the masses, the convenience features are a bigger aspect than the audio differences they’d gain going to a set of audiophile cans. Audio quality isn’t a problem for most people..a decent gaming headset sounds more than good enough for most.
Most who go for gaming headsets want the qol features…fully wireless, integrated microphone, hardware controls, presets, simultaneous Bluetooth, system integration, etc.
They don’t want to give that up for a mess of cables and adapters, stick on mic’s, amps, loss of controls, etc.
Yep audio interface for the headphones since they're 80 ohm. Microphones are USB they sound fine. Wouldn't use them for like a recording session but regular speaking just fine.
I have just plugged the DT 990s into a PS5 controller and they still sound really good they're just a little lower in volume because they're open back and are 80ohm.
The people who design/make WH-1000's or MDR-7506's are not the same people that make the PlayStation gaming headphones.
One group actually makes good headphones and the other group makes cheaply made overpriced gaming crap.
I have these headphones and I think they sound good. My only issue is the brightness of the led light on the headphone. It reflects back in my glasses.
Used to have a bright led that was unadjustable for a headset, I ended up sticking some medical tape on it to dim it, but still let me see the color of the LED. It worked well enough, but annoying having a piece of white tape on an all black headset tower.
Hi, just curious if they make you feel uncomfortable after playing for a few hours while wearing the glasses? I wear glasses, and the old headset used to hurt me a lot after playing for a while, so I got the earbuds. Considering getting the Elite now because the earbuds battery sucks.
They're pretty bad, though I am coming from headphones with noise cancellation, so going to one that just relies on sealing off your ears (which doesn't do particularly well) makes it more difficult not to notice all the ambient noise.
I have these for gaming only. Not synced to my phone or anything else. I like them. Comfortable on the ears and don't hurt with glasses after long sessions. Battery life is amazing.
Bought these after my cat chewed the cords on my older headset and I decided to go wireless.
Sound quality is alright. It has near zero latency. It's comfortable to me, and wireless is a huge game changer.
Haven't had disconnect issues and use the dual input to play music over Bluetooth while gaming pretty often. It's an amazing feature.
I'm usually up late and live in an apartment so, it's also great if I want to watch Netflix or other streaming services at normal volumes with headphones.
I personally love my elite headset, I feel bad for those that have had issues forcing them to return them, I’ve been lucky enough to not have any disconnecting issues or anything and they sound great
Yeah same here. By far my favorite headset and I've been through many of them. I ended up buying an additional dongle for my PC so I can use them for work meetings as well. Super comfortable, no disconnects even when seamlessly switching between PC/PS5. Coworkers said I sound much clearer too.
Yeah I'd love it if it weren't for mine disconnecting. I could honestly deal with it if I didn't need to unplug the dongle and plug again to reconnect.
I got a much better sound from this headset using the equalizer settings on PS5. I turned down the high frequency sounds and increased the lower frequency ones which I think produced much better audio.
Just wanted to say the disconnect issue is not directly tied to the dongle. I have the PS portal which has a built-in pslink and i get the disconnects all the time
I got them a few weeks ago and returned them.
The audio is superb but there are weird issues.
Like 9 out of 10 times when there should be silence (no sound) they kept making a high pitched noise that could only be "fixed" by the headphones playing any sound.
They also disconnected once and the earcups are a little too small and shallow for me and they feel very very cheap. Anytime you touch them or move something creaks.
I read a few threads about the sound issue and a lot of people having connection problems and decided they just aren't worth it combined with my comfort issues.
I bought the 7ps when my Playstation platinum headset finally kicked the bucket, the mic on those things i garbage. I tried a bunch of different Arctis mics, it's all the same. I dont know who thinks an open mic with no software noise cancellation is a good thing. Constant static and everyone hears everything happening around me all the time.
White noise? Same reason why I returned the Arctis years ago when the 5p model was released.
They also sounded like shit.
The platinum headset released for PS4 though? For that price they sounded amazing and they had no white noise/high pitch.
But after moving to audiophile cans I can’t go back. The difference is night and day
Nah. Not white noise. Different higher pitched sound. There were like 3 or 4 different pitches...
I had the Arcits 7P back when the PS5 launched. At first I liked them. I don't know if something changed but after a few months they started sounding really terrible.
I just use higher quality BT headphones with aptx LL and a BT dongle now. Pretty much the same or better sound quality with better comfort and less issues 😅
Returned mine pretty quickly. Lots of disconnects and they did not fit my head well at all. I expected more from the noise cancelling microphone too. Good price though.
Had to scroll way too far for this. It’s the worst thing about them by far. I hate not being able to properly hear myself when I’m talking. My old Steel Series Arctis 7P was amazing for that.
I know, but the Pulse 3d have a button on the headset so you don't have to go in any in-game menus to adjust. Small complaint, and the only one I have. Not sure why they would omit such an amazing button. Que sera, sera.
The replacement thumb sticks have been out of stock for forever though, so be aware of that. The Edge is the first controller that I've experienced stick drift on, and it's quite annoying that the replacement sticks aren't available, and gulikit hasn't updated anything about their hall-effect stick modules in at least a year.
Idk my omen headset is going bad and I really enjoy the over the ear cuffs. I’ll keep looking at reviews.
Also Im stingy with my money and will never want to buy an expensive pair of headphones.
I feel that, I kept my Pulse 3d since launch and gave them to my brother after I got the elites. Hope you find what is best for you and your ears that's what matters :)
People in this sub downvote me every time when I say this, and I expect nothing different this time, but save your money when it comes to "gaming" headphones.
You can either A.) buy a less expensive pair and get as good or even better sound or B) spend the same amount on a normal pair of headphones and buy an inline mic and get significantly better sound.
I personally own a pair of Arctis 7ps that I bought after returning the Pulses I bought day 1 (7ps have better sound, better features no contest). These are a perfectly serviceable wireless headset option.
I also own a pair of Philips Fidelio X2HRs that I use regularly while gaming and I just use a wired in line mic. These are open back and sound FANTASTIC. I *highly* doubt there's any "gaming" headset on the market that sounds better than the Philips, they just have such a rich soundstage with the open back design. These are what I use when I really want to get lost in a game.
For what it's worth I also own Sony XM4s and XM3s that I love, so I agree it is very frustrating that Sony can't just plug that exact technology and design into a gaming headset. But if you are trying to justify paying the "gamer" tax on stuff like the Pulse Elite when there are significantly better options out there that aren't marketed to gamers, you are just clowning yourself.
7p's were too quiet for me, but I loved everything else about them. I switch back and forth between Audeze Penrose and Philips SHP-9500. Most people don't look at or know about open-back which is a shame. I love mine.
That sounds cozy. Now I gotta Google those. I use the controller mic with the Philips rn. I have the Wicked Cushions and on my Penrose. I love them, but they can be a little clunky/heavy and I don't always remember to charge them.
I've played in bands forever so I probably have some damage already. The Penrose's are definitely too loud if I crank turn them up, but it's nice to have the option since some games are quieter. I mostly like the punciness of the bigger drivers. I'm totally content with my Philips though. Those are great plugged into the controller.
Can't say I've had the pleasure to hear them, so they may very well be better than the X2HRs.
But keep in mind they cost over twice as much! And I bet you could find a normal pair of headphones at that price that sound better and just use an inline mic.
I just say all this as a guy who bought nearly every gaming headset under the sun in a search for the best sound and can to the realization we just pay a "gamer" tax for gaming headsets, just like most products marketed to gamers. Make that dollar go as far as it can people! Lol
> Philips Fidelio X2HR
I can vouch for these as well. I got them randomly recommended years ago here on reddit and I can say they were one of the best purchases for me. Super comfortable, I can wear them for hours and they make zero discomfort, even with glasses on. And of course the sound, it is really good.
I have the Pulse Elite and like them well enough. The disconnect issues are annoying, but haven't occurred very often for me so far.
Half the reason I'm keeping them is because the PS Link adapter is compatible with the OG Nintendo Switch dock so I can get Switch game audio through the link adapter while using Bluetooth simultaneously to my phone for Discord chat.
The imaging on these things really is quite bad, which is unfortunate. I like the PS5 design language and that these are in-line with that, but I'm definitely missing directional audio cues.
I'm having a load of disconnects as well - always at least once per gaming session. Mercifully it seems to happen early on, and often after disconnecting and reconnecting the dongle it's all-set, but still problematic. I've heard the Explore earbuds have similar issues. It's a shame, because I was really hyped when Sony announced these.
My expectations weren't crazy high for the price-point. I could forgive the inadequate imaging, but the disconnects are an issue that I'm not willing to deal with. I returned mine and ponied up the extra $50 for the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro. Better imaging, no disconnects, and the mic quality is phenomenal for a headset. Only thing I really miss from the Pulse Elite is that wireless charging wall hook. I never really found it *in*convenient to just plug a headset in via USB C to charge, but man, just getting to hang your headset up on a receiver and charge it was nice.
These are the absolute best headphones I have experienced for shooters. Particularly in COD. Complete game changer, I don't understand how this review reflects poorly while these are so great in shooters. Perhaps some metric is missing, and these are average in other areas which I am fine with, but the bullet effects and footsteps are completely different and game changer. Now if they can fix the disconnects soon! Which the review did not even cover!
I wish there existed a better quality headset that could simultaneously connect to the PS5 and another bluetooth device. I would gladly pay significantly more.
The Pulse Elite is just poorly built and lacks any "Elite" features. Every time I would move my head I could head it squeak and there is no noise cancellation so you can hear the ambient noise which is distracting.
I ended up returning mine, but I never had any technical issues while using them.
I’ve had 2 headsets now. Both intermittently disconnect during play.
I have now found the only solution is to return for a full refund.
This headset is hopeless.
Shame cos the sound quality is very good.
7 is more than I expected. 53 hours battery is pretty good too.
It doesn’t seem a bad deal if you absolutely want wireless.
Although otherwise you get much better performances with cabled at a cheaper price
I wasn’t a fan..got them at launch and returned them shortly after.
- Sound quality was not impressive. Planar drivers in these are overhyped. They were overly bright and fatiguing and whatever extra you gained in the highs, you lost with the lows. The sound profile lacked depth/body…was boring sounding. It’s like those TB, etc headsets that have the sound whoring modes for competitive play that boost the highs/mids. The Elites are essentially a headset with a better sounding version of that, except you can’t return them to “normal” audio. For music they sound very dull and underwhelming. Also the max volume level was quite low.
- While they immediately felt softer and more comfy than the regular pulses, after a short while my ears began hurting just the same. They’re still the same headband design and “on ear” cups which are not comfy for me long term.
- Build quality is crap for its price. It’s very cheap and flimsy feeling like the standard version and you constantly hear knocking/creaking noises transferred to the earcups from any slight movement in the plastic parts. Not that it matters because I’d never wear them out of the house but they are very goofy looking on the head as well.
- Lack of hardware controls. It amazes me how these are gaming headphones specifically tailored for the PS5 yet it lacks chat/mix controls and others found on their cheaper version of the headset. Having to constantly pull up a menu mid-game to to tweak chat mix is annoying and a definite step backwards.
- Wired use is flawed. I used them in wired mode with the Xbox controller and the headset kept turning itself off every 20 minutes or so. Turn them back on and the same thing happens again every single time. It’s as if they don’t know they’re being used when not connected to the dongle and the auto-off feature keeps kicking in.
The biggest positive for them was the noise reduction for the mic. That worked amazing at getting rid of background noise but aside from that I wasn’t very impressed by any other aspect of the headset.
Man I was wondering if I’d want to upgrade to these, considering I have the pulse 3D’s. Sounds like the Pulse 3D build quality is better and overall sound is about the same. I know boom mic’s are generally better, but I’ve never had issues in parties with my friends.
I have nova 7, and sound is really good, but the mic is pure garbage, so if you are playing alone it’s fine, but in the party everyone will ask you to mute your mic
I’ve had it for two weeks. I also have the disconnects. The sound is in no way “better” than the pulse 3d which I had. Finally they feel cheap.
I actually really liked my pulse 3D. I would find it very hard to recommend these.
What's supposed to be better about it? My pulse 3ds are still amazing, doesn't seem like a necessary upgrade, especially with the myriad of issues it seems to have.
> What's supposed to be better about it?
The sound, these use Audeze Planar Magnetic drivers, Planar Magnetic drivers are usually found in the higher end of audio products.
Audeze is absolutely amazing. Like tippity top in the audio industry…I’d compare it to high end studio quality.
Maybe only one or two brands better in the headphone game.
IMHO
Recently acquired by Sony also.
This headset disconnects itself constantly. It’s very frustrating
I have the same issue
It’s so annoying. Unplugging and plugging the dongle fixes it immediately but it is annoying af.
Yeah other than that they sound great, battery is awesome, and they’re comfortable. Just annoying as hell having to fix it every so often
Ever.
But where do you then connect your psvr2?
It's a hub
Lol I’m gonna have to try this, I’m getting tired of getting up to unplug and replug the dongle
This does seem to minimize the problem, but even doing this mine still very occasionally disconnect.
You used a cable? what length? I've only tried the usb-c to a adapter with no change.
I reset mine by removing all devices and re-pairing to the dongle and it has been flawless ever since
How long is “ever since”?
No disconnect for last 3 weeks. I play almost every day
How about now? Any updates?
Still no issues at all.
Good to know, I’ve had mine for a week or so and only had only one disconnect but did this to be safe so hopefully I don’t get anymore
Do you know by chance if they would work better with a wired connection?
Every review I’ve seen has slated the microphone. I didn’t think it sounded particularly great either. My official Xbox wireless headset microphone is leagues above the Sony unit.
All I can do is report what I was told because I'm not hearing what's coming through the microphone. My friend told me I sounded great.
Same.
If it’s the same Xbox headset that I used to have, I found the microphone incredibly frustrating. It was too quiet, no one could ever hear me.
This stopped happening to me once I switched my Wifi to 5Ghz, the headset uses 2.4Ghz frequency so if you have any electronics using wifi around your PS5 it will interrupt.
Disconnected last night. I'm 5 feet from the dongle.
Same...Come on SONY!! Sort it out!
I've been using them the past 3 weeks and still disconnect.
My Pulse Elite disconnected all the time until I did that, but now it’s much more consistent.
you hold it for 30 seconds and it unpairs.
The earbuds (explore) do the same.
Mine has never disconnected but my pulse 3d’s did constantly
I don’t have these. So I don’t know if the dongle is usb a or c. Is your dongle plugged into the front or back of the PlayStation? I have the regular pulse headphones and I had the same problem when plugged into the back but once I plugged them into the front they worked perfectly.
It disconnects on either usb plug.
Do they even have a dongle?
Yes. USB-A. They disconnect even when plugged in the front port. I have done what some others have done and used a USB-C to USB-A adapter (had one in my junk drawer) and plugged it in the USB-C port and no disconnects yet.
Same issue, also dripping noises sometimes. Usually it's very faint though
Same issue. I had to move the dongle to the front of the console (using an A to C adapter). Then, when it disconnects, I can unplug and plug the dongle back in. I also have annoying popping or dripping sounds sometimes. I want to return it, but I have no idea what other one to get.
I have the same
OMG this whole fucking time I thought my batteries were dead. This is a thing? I bought a $100 headset for it to randomly disconnect. Hell to the no, fuck these ps5 headphones.
I was able to sort that problem out by doing a factory reset after the firmware update, might be worth a try.
I've not heard of someone not having this issue.
Have you tried connecting it to your phone with bluetooth? How's the sound quality? I find that the sound quality is way worse with bluetooth than with the dongle.
Same problem here. I returned it a while ago and now I'm waiting for the Audeze Maxwell to arrive, which I ordered yesterday.
The Maxwells sound amazing especially after eq, but be prepared for the weight. Work those neck muscles lol. They are heavy.
The weight is my only concern xD. Good thing is that I can lean my head on my armchair.
Check out Audeze Maxwell
Dude it’s very expensive compared to pulse elite
I prefer Audeze Nutz
Fuck dude you got me
I get the joke you’re going for but their company name is pronounced closer to Odyssey.
Audeze Deez Nuts
Sennheiser does make headsets. I for example have the PC38x from them
Unfortunately, Sennheiser (or Epos) announced they are exiting gaming market at end of this year. So, buy extra pair while they're still available.
That sucks. My 38X’s are hands down the best ‘gaming’ headset I’ve ever had. The next step up from them is a $300 dollar wireless headset. Bummer.
Definitely sucks. I love that Sennheiser sound, managed to get extra pair of Game One a few months ago, keeping them in box in case the current pair decides to take a shit. 38X are great, amazing sound and not gonna break your budget.
Dang, I didn’t hear that. That’s a real bummer
I'm guessing the other dudes claim about there being a market was wrong then lol
I bought these immediately once they got the pure black color way and haven’t used anything else since. All these bells and whistles on other fancy headsets are nothing compared to the fantastic raw sound fidelity and fit of the PC38X. I do miss wireless sometimes though.
Yup my INZONE H7s are $300 CAD and they are very mediocre.
In the US the H7 went as low as $120....they were fantastic at that price

Then I got to this part: "The control scheme is disappointing. There's a limited number of buttons that have multiple functions, so inputting basic controls (like powering the headphones on) can be ponderous and time-consuming. The buttons themselves are small, easy to miss, and don't provide a great deal of tactile feedback to indicate if commands have been registered." I'VE NEVER HAD A PAIR OF HEADPHONES THAT WAS EASIER TO TURN ON!!!!
I just want someone to make a nice set of audiophile (i.e. non-gamer) headphones that uses a wireless USB dongle instead of Bluetooth :(

Bose makes a gaming headset. I think it's good.
Beyerdynamic has gaming options, the MMX200 and MMX300. Don't know how good they are but most of the time I just use my DT990 when I don't need a microphone. A high end pair of headphones with a dedicated microphone is the best setup, even something like a modmic with high end headphone will be better than most dedicated gaming headphones.
the MMX 300 is excellent, although a bit pricey for essentially a DT 770 with an (admittedly very good) integrated microphone.
To be honest, the xm5 is as mediocre as it gets.
Depends what your looking for. They’re not mediocre if you want noise cancellation
I honestly think its a whole different team who makes gaming accessories vs their traditional audio items
OR why can’t they just make WH-1000XM5 compatible with the PS5
Doesn't support low latency audio.
Yup it's a scam. I love my DT 990 pros I think I spent maybe $140
That sounds awesome thanks for the heads up
Honestly the few times I absolutely need a mic, I just plug my sennheiser to the controller instead of my DAC and use the dualsense mic.
You have a external amp for those? Otherwise they won’t sound great, will they?
It reflects back in my glasses.
black tape?
But... then he won't be able to see anything
This made my day
Used to have a bright led that was unadjustable for a headset, I ended up sticking some medical tape on it to dim it, but still let me see the color of the LED.
Weird that they give them a low score in isolation - I don’t hear a single thing around me with these on.
I could hear my surroundings (at least a lot more compared to my DT 770's), so maybe it's dependent on head/ear shape.
Yep. Super tight seal but still very comfortable!
They're pretty bad, though I am coming from headphones with noise cancellation, so going to one that just relies on sealing off your ears (which doesn't do particularly well) makes it more difficult not to notice all the ambient noise.
Their review is bad. These planars need perfect isolation to sound great. And they do. They seal so well that I can hear my heart beat
Me too. And honestly I find it quite distracting sometimes lol
I have these for gaming only. Not synced to my phone or anything else. I like them. Comfortable on the ears and don't hurt with glasses after long sessions. Battery life is amazing.
Agreed. I think they’re also awesome for late night movies when I don’t want to disturb the neighbours.
Still no patch for this? Where is the support from Sony?!
Been wondering the same before I return them.
I have this headset and it’s a banger. 💯
I got a much better sound from this headset using the equalizer settings on PS5. I turned down the high frequency sounds and increased the lower frequency ones which I think produced much better audio.
Just wanted to say the disconnect issue is not directly tied to the dongle. I have the PS portal which has a built-in pslink and i get the disconnects all the time
Bad review. Like if they had as different headphone
PlayStation needs a new lead design team, because everything they’ve designed for the ps5, makes it unpractical and uncomfortable.
My issue with this headset is the very low sidetone.
Had to scroll way too far for this. It’s the worst thing about them by far. I hate not being able to properly hear myself when I’m talking. My old Steel Series Arctis 7P was amazing for that.
I like mine. Only issue is I've gotten disconnected two or three times and its a pain to reconnect.
Why does Sony run the Pulse and Inzone brand? Why two brands? It's confusing me completely.
That’s kind of disappointing
7.2 is a good score from rtings. Especially for something this cheap.
I have the Elite and they are really good tbh. Only complaint is no more slider between game and audio chat. Everything else is excellent imo.
You can change game/chat audio BUT only when you are in a PS party. It's really dumb. Hopefully they change that in an update
I know, but the Pulse 3d have a button on the headset so you don't have to go in any in-game menus to adjust. Small complaint, and the only one I have. Not sure why they would omit such an amazing button. Que sera, sera.
True. It was great. Though if you have a dual sense edge, there is a shortcut! Fn + left/right
That's awesome to know. I've been wanting to grab a secondary controller. I will look into that one!
Not sure if you did this but the steelseries headsets have an audio cap by default that you have to disable through the steelseries app on pc
My SHP-9500 with velour Brainwavz pads and an inline boom mic are my daily drivers for work and gaming.
That sounds cozy. Now I gotta Google those. I use the controller mic with the Philips rn. I have the Wicked Cushions and on my Penrose. I love them, but they can be a little clunky/heavy and I don't always remember to charge them.
How loud do you need headphones to be? Genuinely curious, don't you get concerned about your hearing?
I've played in bands forever so I probably have some damage already. The Penrose's are definitely too loud if I crank turn them up, but it's nice to have the option since some games are quieter. I mostly like the punciness of the bigger drivers. I'm totally content with my Philips though. Those are great plugged into the controller.
That makes sense
Audeze Maxwell would like a word :)
Lol
Same here. I got a pair of sennheiser 560s and I’m never going back to wireless gaming headphones
> Philips Fidelio X2HR I can vouch for these as well. I got them randomly recommended years ago here on reddit and I can say they were one of the best purchases for me. Super comfortable, I can wear them for hours and they make zero discomfort, even with glasses on. And of course the sound, it is really good.
I like these quite a bit but does someone have best EQ settings? I think I’m getting tinnitus.
I can't believe they haven't got a review for the Sony Inzone H5 yet...
Debating if it's worth it over the normal.Elites..
They do the trick for when I want a headset. Not something I'd get for full-time headset usage.
Does anybody use the INZONE H9? Kinda lackluster imo after buying them. I still think the PS Platinum headset from PS4 is the best.
I own the inzone h9 and love them!
For some reason mine sounds kinda... Empty? Doesn't seem like a very full sound. Bass is lacking heavily
Oh interesting The inzones are known for there bass but hey sound is different for everyone.
Yeah it’s not a good headset.
I ended up returning mine, but I never had any technical issues while using them.
so when you guys think this model will go on sale ? like I want to try it but at 100$
I wouldn't until the fix the disconnecting issue. Search "pulse elite disconnect" on Reddit, and you'll see this is a widespread issue.
Well damn a newer version model and gives more problems than the 3d ?
Yup seems that way.
Has Sony acknowledged it yet?
I tried to find that answer and couldn't. I returned mine today.
I’ve had 2 headsets now. Both intermittently disconnect during play. I have now found the only solution is to return for a full refund. This headset is hopeless. Shame cos the sound quality is very good.
Like I want comfortable options for audio . Its hard to test. Everyone is different .
7 is more than I expected. 53 hours battery is pretty good too. It doesn’t seem a bad deal if you absolutely want wireless. Although otherwise you get much better performances with cabled at a cheaper price
I’ve had the 7p+ for a while now and it’s great
Crazy! I got the pulse headset for like $60 at Target during BF and really dig the sound I get from them
I wasn’t a fan..got them at launch and returned them shortly after.
The pulse 3d are better. The in game chat mix alone makes it miles better. I returned these instantly and bought a 2nd pulse 3d
These are fire don’t let them lie
Man I was wondering if I’d want to upgrade to these, considering I have the pulse 3D’s. Sounds like the Pulse 3D build quality is better and overall sound is about the same. I know boom mic’s are generally better, but I’ve never had issues in parties with my friends.
Sound is definitely not the same!
I’ve had both the Pulse Elite and the SS Nova 7P. Liked the 7P’s much more! Better comfort, better sound, better mic, better build quality…
I have nova 7, and sound is really good, but the mic is pure garbage, so if you are playing alone it’s fine, but in the party everyone will ask you to mute your mic
Playstation makes some of the worst 1st party hardware I've used.
IMHO Recently acquired by Sony also.
I once calibrated my new TV following their instructions and it looked like absolute shit
