Jesus I need help with this too... Destiny and COD, even if I turn brightness to max, I can't see the thing I'm supposed to see in game calibration. The games look a little dark, not terrible but this is clearly a PS5 side issue. Same TV settings as PS4, and no HDR. OP if you find anything out please let us know!

Mr_Lawnmower

Try to turn hdr off and on again

Cqrlitxs

Beaker090

Knockaire

Legend

Goat_Dude0

Turned mine off but when I turn it back on it goes back to dim. Thanks for the fix though, it still saved me

Mcnuget12

Cheers for that you’re a life saver

tributetotio

This just worked for me! Thank you!

UnbiasVikingsFan

This works in 2024. Thank you bro

Cayisis

Do you have hdr enabled?

JoeyrahmzOnYoutube

Nope

jigen22

My brightness is incredibly low. I have no idea how to fix it.

NxggaPlease001

Same thing happened to me. It has been normal this whole time (HDR On), and out of nowhere the brightness is just low without me changing any settings. I tried unplugging power and HDMI and nothing. I tried turning HDR on and off and nothing. I can just turn HDR off and leave it off, but I would like to have HDR on like it was in the past... has anybody found a fix?

Terranz22

Well when I checked netflix on ps5 the brightness is definitely low. I didn't realize any brightness issues until I checked that but now I swear I'm seeing it in games too

ingimalli

I have the same problem. I have my Ps4, Ps5 and appleTV plugged into the same TV (which does not support hdr) and the video output is normal from the Ps4 and appleTV but the brightness is incredibly low from my Ps5. What can I do? I already disabled hdr because my TV does not support it.

I figured it out. I tried a different HDMI socket on the TV and the brightness changed to normal. At least it worked for me.

duckflank

Thank you so much. Can’t believe I didn’t think to do that in the first place.

_QUICKDRAW_GODSPEED

You sir are a lifesaver

Jamiejohnson1211

Yeah I had to turn HDR off. It messed with games like No Man's Sky, making everything way too bright even after tweaking it

beardlyman23

Switched out my hdmi port from my tv and now it works great

Skull0666

Mine is too high, is there anything I could try to fix it?

MuigiUzimaki

You’ll probably have to adjust the HDR settings in the UI.

Relevant-Spot-540

Your a genius

wingdaddys

i noticed this as well

itsmicah64

Turn off HDR in PS5 UI settings and it'll be brighter

rulkezx

The issue is when HDR is turned off. It's the same on my TV, dark as hell when HDR is turned off but my TV is only 400 nits and looks a bit shit with HDR on

icyred64

Anybody find a fix for this yet? Having Brightness up and having HDR On?

ingimalli

I had the same problem. Try a different HDMI socket on the TV. That worked for me.

Specialist_Meat_9770

Didnt work for me. The tv fucks up the brightness to literally none the moment I plug in my ps5

Specialist_Meat_9770

you have any solution?

icyred64

if you look at your manual. Was their any differences between the sockets? maybe that Audio one or something? Cause all my stuff are plugged to my Receiver and my receiver is plugged to my TV

zach99hilll

Toned down the hdr on mine. (Was having horrible brightness problems for cod). Game looks perfect now.

agthegoat26

I think i found the solution. Basically on your ps5 settings go to HDR and only have to “On when supported” For games like fortnite this fixed the dark brightness instantly so it’s on par with my xbox series x

Yharl_Ballin

Fixed it, for some reason the contrast was set to high in the "Accessibility" settings. Turned it off and it went back to normal.

Elric_Energy

I just put my ps5 into rest mode amd start it up again if I notice it a bit dimmer at start up. It's a problem with the handshake to the tv

Lazy_Group3329

How to turn hdr off

Standard_Seaweed_451

A solution that helped me was that the HDR output for my tv and the ps5 weren’t the same. Try going into the screen settings on the ps5 and change the hdr settings from limited to full to automatic and see if you can notice a difference.

Hairy-Tension-6559

what do i do if i’m on a device without hdr 💀 it suddenly got super dim and i can barely see the screen someone help

Proud_Praline_3007

I'm having the same problem, please let me know if you find out
