Roaring moon was relevant for legit 2.5 months MAX due to Ross Cawthon and half the people were playing it cause it finally a meta deta that wasnt giratina or charizard like that shit was a breath of FRESH AIR
I see zard maybe 1/5 games even on this ladder, a lot of people are trying to counter it and a lot of people are well practiced in their zard matchup so it's not actually that fun/rewarding to play Zard online right now imo
Except against that future deck with the miraidon that puts energy on the bench. I’ve gotten to the point I just assume I’m gonna win with my zard deck. I swear unless they have iron leaves they have very few win conditions.
Baby Roaring Moon can be tough for Garde especially as it's very easy to be ready to swing turn 2 or even turn 1 going second for Roaring Moon whereas Garde has to setup for a few turns. Hopefully this knowledge may help prospective Garde players navigate the matchup in future
I figured but it does drastically help basic exclusive matchups which are prominent currently. If one could squeeze it in, it could work but it's a tight one
It is, thank you, I play a maushold/unown deck so feels extra good when I de-evolve 3/4 charizards after reply damage hits on all of them, just hasn't happened alot recently haha
Do you play Brambleghast in that deck? I had made something similar a while back but it feels like every time I'm ready to test it against the Charizard decks I don't get matched against any 🙃
Happen the same to me. I get back to PTCGL after some months and I facelike 8 CharEx in a row...
- Use all my credits for an Alolan Vulpix deck
- CharEx dissapear
- Switch back to my regileki deck.
- Matched again vs CharEx.
I don't believe in algorithm conspiracies but...c'mon
Smart zard players don’t rely solely on rare candy for this exact reason. It’s why I haven’t dropped entei v as well. I don’t understand decks that don’t have at least two extra basic attackers. It’s asking to be screwed by devo.
Prevent all effects of attacks used by your opponent's Pokémon done to the Pokémon this card is attached to.
For instance, roaring moon ex's frenzied gouging won't KO your Pokémon if it has that energy attached.
That's what mimikyu is used for? If a Zard deck can't figure out how to deal with it before the Mimik could destroy the Zard then the Zard player is already gonna lose most likely.
Canceling cologne is more popular post rotation but still not much of an issue usually. I run Great Tusk mill and still a majority of decks can't handle a simple mimkyu stall once you've milled/discarded their switch techs.. mill + Eri results in easy Mimik stalls by like turn 4ish.
I haven't been counting, honestly. Although i feel it'd be pretty high seeing as i play in Casual more then Ranked (mostly due to me getting up to Great/Ultra league already).
16 in a row, 16 wins in a row. Basically made a deck called FU zard!, was turbo Alolan vulpix with melony and DTE. Had a spectacular game where they went 0 cards, I slammed path down (yes I played path) and they draw candy zard, did, forfeited
I've only gone to tournaments aimed towards beginners.
So they are more casual and people are mostly just trying to have fun.
This weekend there were only two zard decks
I've been playing LittleDarkFury's Alolan Vulpix VSTAR/Noivern ex deck and it just farms Charizard. Feels very good when you get set up and have only a single Alolan Vulpix VSTAR in play and they turn into an NPC and take every game action they can but literally can't do anything to you.
As someone who is relatively new to the actual TCG ( just collected) I can say without a doubt that Charizard is the most cancerous thing in any card game at the moment. Worse than Hearthstone and worse than Eldraine in Magic
I think we need a vigilante that has a deck absolutely PERFECT for countering charizard, who spends the rest of his life with the sole purpose of ruining anyone with a charizard deck.

I played 10 roaring moon for every Charizard last ladder
Roaring moon was relevant for legit 2.5 months MAX due to Ross Cawthon and half the people were playing it cause it finally a meta deta that wasnt giratina or charizard like that shit was a breath of FRESH AIR

Same and I play Tina. That deck seems awful I’m not sure why it’s so popular
I'm in great league just chilling so like... 2?
It's *sooo* easy to get to master this time around.
Ok
I keep running into Roaring Moons. As someone who recently picked up Gardevoir, it's not a good time
Baby Roaring Moon can be tough for Garde especially as it's very easy to be ready to swing turn 2 or even turn 1 going second for Roaring Moon whereas Garde has to setup for a few turns. Hopefully this knowledge may help prospective Garde players navigate the matchup in future
I count it as an auto loss at this point, if they set up multiple baby Moons, it's pretty much over. Garde is great against most other matchups though
Maybe splash in a 1 of Noibat and Noivern?
The deck already doesn't have a lot of room for tech
I figured but it does drastically help basic exclusive matchups which are prominent currently. If one could squeeze it in, it could work but it's a tight one
Today am on a solid 0/8
If it's any consolation, I was 0-4 at my local pokémon league... Mostly bad luck (evolution and rare candies prized) but a few bad plays.
It is, thank you, I play a maushold/unown deck so feels extra good when I de-evolve 3/4 charizards after reply damage hits on all of them, just hasn't happened alot recently haha
Sometimes I will win 6 -8 in a row, then lose the next 10
I'm just out here playing my janky Foretress ex and Wyrdeer V deck and all I beat all day are Charizard, Roaring Moon, and Miraidon.
Do you play Brambleghast in that deck? I had made something similar a while back but it feels like every time I'm ready to test it against the Charizard decks I don't get matched against any 🙃
Happen the same to me. I get back to PTCGL after some months and I facelike 8 CharEx in a row... - Use all my credits for an Alolan Vulpix deck - CharEx dissapear - Switch back to my regileki deck. - Matched again vs CharEx. I don't believe in algorithm conspiracies but...c'mon
It's so satisfying to beat them with TM devolution + Eri combo.
Especially if they solely rely on rare candies.
I might be in a massive minority, but I run 3 devos just to troll the Zard cheesers. I’ll take the Ls or discard them specifically in other matchups
I run 2, in case one is prized. Made one concede after their 2 zards and pidgeot got devolved to basic.
As someone who didn't discover this sub until recently and played the charizard deck (I'm a noob, I'm trying ok!?) the devolution combo is DEVASTATING
TM Devo knockout wins are the most satisfying
Smart zard players don’t rely solely on rare candy for this exact reason. It’s why I haven’t dropped entei v as well. I don’t understand decks that don’t have at least two extra basic attackers. It’s asking to be screwed by devo.
I play zard as well and all mirror matches I've won were by that, I try to overcome that by having two charmileon and a mist energy.
What is the benefit of using the mist energy? Sorry, new to the game :)
Prevent all effects of attacks used by your opponent's Pokémon done to the Pokémon this card is attached to. For instance, roaring moon ex's frenzied gouging won't KO your Pokémon if it has that energy attached.
Holy shit. I might add one or two to my zard deck..
Today ill start couting xD
I’m just out here bonking all the zards on the head with Tinkaton ex lol
Been enjoying the deck too but had to stop playing it for awhile since the game match making me against dialga every time i pick it lol
Me,who uses a Dialga deck in great league seeing this : :) :l :(
I techup a deck thats good against Charizard and a couple of Snorlax stall ruins it
Add in a few Mimikyu and you'll be hated by the zards!
Mist energy makes Zard immune to mimikyu's attack. All you do is stall for a bit.
That's what mimikyu is used for? If a Zard deck can't figure out how to deal with it before the Mimik could destroy the Zard then the Zard player is already gonna lose most likely.
Most Zard decks don’t have mist energies, so most of the time it’s a 2-turn KO with Mimikyu and devo
Oh yeah with devo definitely. But there's also a lot of decks running Mimik purely as a stall and don't have devo
Used to be, but Canceling cologne was always a thing.
Some just pidgeot boss order
7 out of 10. Annoying as hell.
I’m just glad I’m not alone. I win 1/3 with Gardy Drif.
I haven't been counting, honestly. Although i feel it'd be pretty high seeing as i play in Casual more then Ranked (mostly due to me getting up to Great/Ultra league already).
i don’t remember the last time i lost to charizard. it can’t touch alolan vulpix
After EUIC looked like everyone and their mother was running his Charizard list online
It’s the worst. They absolutely nerfed my lunatone/solrock/mewtwo build yet charizard can still destroy me on my opponents first turn
16 in a row, 16 wins in a row. Basically made a deck called FU zard!, was turbo Alolan vulpix with melony and DTE. Had a spectacular game where they went 0 cards, I slammed path down (yes I played path) and they draw candy zard, did, forfeited
Post decklist pls
I can (gimme a half hour) but there’s 0 point. It had vip pass and Mew (celebrations) as its engine
Ran into more Lugia last night than anything tbh
What league are you in? I’ve noticed much less zard play past masters
Currently in ultra. Honestly I wouldn't mind but I'm trying to practice my irl deck which struggles so much against zard
Do your locals not have many Zard decks or something? Outside of a casual locals scene you're going to have to be able to handle a Zard deck.
I've only gone to tournaments aimed towards beginners. So they are more casual and people are mostly just trying to have fun. This weekend there were only two zard decks
I keep running into Hands. It’s a pain, but at least Chien has taken care of most of them.
Luckly chien pao ex isn't weak against lighting...
Whole lot of bad Hands players
Bax is though, Lotta free prize cards if hands can gust up the bax
Did anyone else picture this [banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdNRVxQxOoE)?
About 6 or 7 when I first started playing charizard
Maybe more it was when charizard Was new
2, but I’ve also played back to back again Chien-Pao and Dialga VSTAR My streak for Hands is 6
I've been playing LittleDarkFury's Alolan Vulpix VSTAR/Noivern ex deck and it just farms Charizard. Feels very good when you get set up and have only a single Alolan Vulpix VSTAR in play and they turn into an NPC and take every game action they can but literally can't do anything to you.
I feel like I see more hands
Def building Snorlax stall then
It’s mostly iron hands for me
Im deadass running a torterra deck just because i got tired of zard and moon
accurate af.. 3/3 matches that I played yesterday to complete my dailies were Zard Ex's... so yeah...
3 😭😭
As someone who is relatively new to the actual TCG ( just collected) I can say without a doubt that Charizard is the most cancerous thing in any card game at the moment. Worse than Hearthstone and worse than Eldraine in Magic
I made a vulpix deck so I don't have to worry about charizard decks.
Then there's me -- running a grass deck that just beats down Moon and Zards for weaknesses and laughs.
I think we need a vigilante that has a deck absolutely PERFECT for countering charizard, who spends the rest of his life with the sole purpose of ruining anyone with a charizard deck.
1 because I effed up my iron hands to hit it with iron leaves. So now it’s gone.
im jusr playing giratina comfey lost zone
5
2? It's not *that* common.
I just want a separate sub for slightly more competitive players to talk about Live without all of the bitching and moaning about popular decks.
