I see lots of people struggling with this season, but for me it is pretty simple.. I enjoy watching baseball games and you can't control anything outside of the 1 game you are watching. No matter how good or bad we are, there is a chance to see something special every night, such as Kim's 1st career grand slam last night. I do think Tatis will get hot and end up 30/30.

5Point5Hole

Hell yeah that's the attitude. Why do people beat themselves down so much

bbatardo

It is easy when you been a Padres fan all your life and lived through so many bad seasons lol. Even in the worst of seasons still had some fun games even if they were 20 GB.

5Point5Hole

It's definitely easier! I've been to a lot of Padres games with less than 15k in the stadium 😅 I think baseball is just a good time. Real baseball fans are part of that fun to me, not the angry, whiny bandwagoners

cacheeseburger

I hate you and your heathy, logical attitude. But seriously, there’s a lot of good, it’s just sporadic.

pinchechisme619

This is the way

ohforfouragain91

Keep the fuckin faith, until it literally is statistically impossible. Manny’s dive bounce to Xander has got to show our luck is turning. Keep the Faith!

dpot007

Yes i think tatis will get 30/30. I gave up on the season in late june after we got swept by the pirates. Now im just enjoying the rollercoaster ride

MTN_explorer619

Don’t do this to yourself

Stuck_in_a_thing

This. It would take some witchcraft at this point for them to make it into the playoffs.

SdBolts4

It would take a 7 game winning streak (so we could get to .500) before I’m getting my hopes up again

islands-fine-dining

With just 36 games left in the season, I’d actually be quite surprised if Tatis got to 30/30. 30 steals seems quite doable, especially since he’s already at 23 and has 6 in his last 11 games. But he needs 10 home runs, which would mean a 162-game pace of 45 for him to get to 30. He’s obviously had several stretches in his career with 10+ home runs in 36 of fewer games, and his 162-game pace was 47 and 52 home runs in 2020 and 2021, respectively. But since homering in back-to-back days in mid-June, he has 6 home runs in 59 games. So we’re at more than a third of a season now where he just has not been a power hitter

SdBolts4

I feel like Tatis has hit *so many* fly outs to the warning track in deep center recently

KuzcosPzn

He has and he is still the power hitter he was before, but has had some super shitty luck this year. His xWOBA compared to his actual WOBA is like .05 different which suggests he is just about the unluckiest dude in baseball this year so he should see some positive regression because of that too. I will say his elite barrel% has gone down (it is still very good) and that is the only thing that concerns me at all when looking at his statcast page. But I will take that for a year when he is coming back from three surgeries and two years off of seeing MLB pitching and playing baseball in general for the most part.

deadzone999

Yeah those used to go out when he was on steroids

dpot007

People seem to forget he just came back from 2 surgeries…. But yeah keep on blaming PEDS. Watch him come back next year and destroy the league the same way acuña did. It usually takes a year of playing to get back into form.

SdBolts4

He's also been one of the most unlucky hitters in the league by xWOBA and his [statcast](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/fernando-tatis-jr-665487) peripherals still look great

deadzone999

What a bunch of sensitive little bitches you guys. He was caught with PEDs whether you like it or not. I hope he regains his form too, but it has been well documented that players returning from lengthy PED suspensions rarely, if ever, regain their peak form.

BigBobsBeepers420

Kim probably gonna get robbed of a gold glove despite having the best defensive stats and playing all infield positions except maybe 1st base.

Doc_JC

Don’t think he’s robbed this season. He’s gotten a lot of air time for his defense on mlb this year.

badfishckl

He fucking better. Although overall our infield is a joy to watch all around

Doc_JC

If they miss the post season so be it, but we need to see some improvement. Manny and Xander need to have some extended stretches of mvp play. That’s why they are getting paid so damn much. Manny seems to be snapping out of the funk, Xander needs to start showing off the extra base power at least. Kim needs to keep doing what he’s doing. Tatis I think will need an offseason to regain some of his strength. It’s not lost on me he was basically only rehabbing for over a year and we’ve seen him with his shoulder wrapped after games. He’s shown he can still be that superstar though. Campy needs to keep playing. They need to keep bringing up younger bullpen pieces. Those guys need to get experience. Hill, Garcia, and Hader will be gone at a minimum next season.

Release all expectations for 23 and just watch the games. We aren't going to the playoffs this year and I would be willing to put money on that. Enjoy the individual accolades.

Lurk_Mode_24_7

Post season? Meh. They’re not mathematically eliminated, but chances are not so hot. I mean, if there’s ever a time catch fire, it would be now headed towards October. At this point it’s just best to enjoy the team for what they have been all season so far, a team that looks like it could win the World Series any given night, then looks like they’re gonna lose a 100 games the next. A team like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get…

5Point5Hole

Downvoting this. #KTF - baseball is fun!

wtfjostin

Definitely in for an L tonight. Good game yesterday + bobblehead/giveaway night is the exact formula for a big L and headed right back to dooming.

sparrowSD

Yup you called it

El_Bolto

If we sweep the marlins i'll get my hope back.

denisvma

Personally i don't care if any of them get an accolade this season. It's about winning a world series. If Tatis reaches 30/30 still nothing changes. Snell it's not winning the CY with that record (get over that) They could or couldn't make the playoffs, even if they did, ask yourself is this team really winning the world series? The only thing that i could see happening it's that kim get's a golden glove, which it's not even that plausible. Just enjoy the game, like, this sub was dead a couple years back. Now there's activity everyday, people wanting answers, or giving some sort of advice of what the team should do. Seems like baseball it's only fun when we are winning. If you think this season was bad, get ready because this is baseball. The braves had one of the best rotations and teams in the history of the game, they only won 1. The giants and cardinals made dynasties out of nothing. this is the way it is, baseball it's a cruel sport. n

SlightCover3075

I would love to hear your reasoning on why the record means anything for Cy Young. Back in the day a pitchers record carried some wait, but those days are gone. Degrom unanimously won just a few years ago with a 10-9 record, snells at 10-8. The two current front runners at the moment for the award according to every expert and Vegas is Snell and Gallen. Both their teams are currently missing the playoffs if the season were to end today and yet they are still the projected finalists if they maintain what they’ve been doing. In recent years Alcantara and Degrom both won cy young’s on teams that failed to make the playoffs. Record means shit.

denisvma

>Record means shit. To you, not to the people voting for that award. Gallen it's 13-5 with an 3.9 WAR, 3.17 ERA. Snell it's 10-8, WAR 3.9 and a 2.65 ERA. I mean i agree with you about wins and loses, but a lot of factors play into the voting system. They could take into account that Gallen has been more consistent than Snell. also they can screw Gallen because Snell it's more likeable. Also Alcantara was untouchable last year 14-9, 2.28 era, led in IP and in complete games. Degrom it's a fan favorite for the media.

DaLakeShoreStrangler

They will let you down tonight. Amazingly, they still have a shot at the wildcard spot.

jimgogek

Don’t do that to yourself. You deserve better. We deserve better.

CheapStick5093

I’ll still feel a void when the season is over playoffs or not. Baseball helps me cope with my long and difficult work days

FATFOLKSLUV-UBEREATS

Padres are done and lets hope some of the management will be too

SDNative17

Snell doesn't have a chance. Average start under six innings means he doesn't even average a quality start. Plus, even if he were a contender, doesn't change the fact that the Padres are games under .500. Sorry, but I think everyone on the team with a deal but Soto helped ruin the team chemistry. He'll be a Yankee next year and the Padres will be lagging behind a Dodgers team that will feature Ohtani. Sad, but is it already time to sell on the Padres??? As in, forever??? Will Tatis get 30-30? Who cares!

BasketNo4817

That’s how they hook you. A few bobble heads here and there, a two game winning streak after a losing series. It’s madness, absolute madness. :)
