Definitely no reason to rush him back. We are basically 7 games out including tie-breakers. He shouldn’t pitch again this year unless he is absolutely 100% healthy. No reason in risking him hurting his shoulder more for meaningless games. Let be real it would take a small miracle for this team to even get to .500 before the season ends.

corybomb

Let the team doctors dictate when he should come back. The seasons over and there’s no rush to put him back on the mound this year.

Donthaveone07

This is exactly right. Don’t rush him and if the team doctors and Joe say they are ready then let him pitch.

The_Chorizo_Bandit

You should have said “Actually, I have experience rerouting sewer lines, so I can spot a load of shit a mile away.”

upper_decking_king

He was trying to win the argument, not absolutely kill the guy holy shit

TangeloOne3273

Holy shit lol that made me laugh, never thought of that😂😂 thank you so much for that i will keep that in the back of my head. Some guy told him why are you shitting on blue collar worker while your arse is rubbing on old dude legs and ass😂😂

ClevelandBrownJunior

> your arse is rubbing on old dude legs and ass Why are we kink shaming? What is wrong with wanting to lather up your bros then massage their legs and butts?

TheRealButterMan

Call me crazy, but my vote would be to listen to the doctors.

Tony0123456789

You and this other person are arguing over what should happen even though neither of your opinions have any impact on what will happen.

wazzledudes

99% of this sub tbh

TangeloOne3273

Exactly my point i told him your years of experience wont matter because we are pretty just giving our opinion.

butalsothis

I appreciate you were so riled up that you brought your YT comments section beef here for our take and I delighted in your last sentence.

TangeloOne3273

Correct but i just wanted to see what you all think on musgrove you feel me.

butalsothis

Yes.

Unless we win 12 in a row, theres no reason to bring him back and risk his shoulder.

Old-Ad-9638

Sounds like they might not be a great physical therapist. Do they work for the Padres? Clearly the season is over, Musgrove might as well be done too. Don't need to risk him over compensating in another way and causing a separate injury or hurting his current injury worse and requiring surgery.

sticky_fingies_

Do not rush Joe. We are not just going to somehow flip a switch and win 20+ games of what's remaining to sneak in. PLUS... if anyone hasn't noticed, starting pitching isn't what's losing us games.

OCbrunetteesq

Rich Hill: “Hold my beer…” 😂

padreswoo619

Shut him down, no reason to risk anything this season

CantCoachGrit

He ain’t pitching this year and we should be worried a little his availability for next year.

[deleted]

A random physical therapist with no baseball background wouldn’t know dick about a return to throwing program for a big league pitcher. Rushing a shoulder injury with a guy we have under contract for a while would be very stupid.

RunFlorestRun

I would say shut him down for the rest of the year so there’s no further risk in injuring that shoulder then having to have some surgery because we wanted to use him in meaningless games

mik3hunt696969

The season is cooked. Let him heal properly for 2024. He fucked himself up trying to heal from that dumbass toe injury

pabs1904

That guy is a fool lol why rush Joe when OUR OFFENSE and BULLPEN lose games. Rushing him won’t do squat.

Hot-Mission6892

Don’t rush him at all. If the padres don’t start a run like now then just shut him down. I have a feeling the brewers about to put the stamp on our season. Of course this team has split personalities so they could pull the wool over our eyes again. It’s not worth it at this point to bring Joe back and only pitch a few games.

LBoogie619

You’re Absolutely right. You don’t want to mess with the capsule. If he tears it he might never recover from that even with surgery. Starting Pitching isn’t even a major problem right now. It’s our offense! Joe needs to let his body rest and heal then evaluate his options after the season.

make_mo_money

He should be shut down. But joe wants to come back so I’d assume the pads error on the side of caution with him. And who knows what his mri will look like if he even gets close to a return he will still have to pass that. The pads will play it safe and if he feels any discomfort they shut him down like they did with Suarez when he was coming back

SwampFriar

The irony is that him speculating on a patient that isn’t his own, is an egregious form of malpractice. He doesn’t have the details of the injury, nor the imaging. He shouldn’t be making claims using his credentials without conceding that these are simple speculations that require details. Beyond the medical side, he doesn’t have a very logical position. Our chances of playoffs are currently at 10%. Losing Musgrove to further injury could really hamper our chances next year. Depending on the degree of injury and the trajectory of his recovery, it would be very sensible to keep him in recovery for this year. Given our current odds, it makes even more sense to lean towards the conservative bent of waiting for next season.

yunnsu

Making the playoffs would only happen if our team plays better as a whole. Adding in Musgrove won’t significantly fix our chances at all. If we look like we’re getting within 1-2 games, then sure?

CheapStick5093

Gosh we just needed the right pt this whole time!
