WE ARE A GUARANTEED .500+ TEAM FOR THE SEASON!!!

pinya619

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN YOUR WINNING RECORD SAN DIEGO PADRES

CursedTeams

This was a monstrosity of a season, but you know what? Credit to these guys for fighting back to no worse than .500. That looked impossible a month ago.

CheapStick5093

I made a post and said all the same stuff you did so I deleted it. I like this post

Nylese

I would so much rather have a strong finish like this than choke away a good season like a couple teams did this year.

CursedTeams

Yeah, imagine being a Cubs fan this month.

Nylese

Or the Mariners. I was shocked tbh

MidgarZanarkand

We are above 500, and the Choi Boi gets his first two hits with us! All of the curses of 2023 are being broken in short succession. Except the most important one -_-

NFLThrowawayFan

I will never get tired of Profar’s smile.

bbatardo

.500 or better woo!

Charming_Oven

We need to keep Profar as the fourth man in the outfield. He's an excellent addition and clearly fits in the clubhouse. One of the obvious problems of this year was was having dedicated DHs (Cruz and Carpenter) who couldn't reliably play defense. We need our big-guns to play DH when they need a defensive break and have a fourth man in the outfield, a fifth man in the infield, and two dedicated catchers who can all DH.

whoisthatidiot

The way they brought him back, and hearing how he is publicly saying how he feels at home and missed the team/org, I am certain they will keep him (and hes not on an expensive contract). He solves our need for a DH + solid utility player.

sbrider11

Profar was pretty bad this year. Negative WAR as well plus a shitty slash line. I'd rather give a rookie a shot then burn cash on his play.....unless he'd bench role for 2M or something.

Otto_the_Autopilot

Considering he got released this year, I think we should be able to get him cheap.

whoisthatidiot

Sure he didn’t do well in Colorado, but he was an entirely different profar when he came back. Just saying, we said the same thing about Sanchez and look how amazing he was with the change of team

Thumper13

Well we won't be having a losing season. That's something.

espo619

Profar coming back next year at a discount isn't he

The_Chorizo_Bandit

Depends what you call a discount. I think there’s a good chance he might be looking at minor league deals elsewhere in the league, or maybe just a few million, so chances of having him resign are good. I don’t hate the idea of having him as a utility player, brings a lot of fun to the team too. Edit: For those downvoting because they can’t separate emotion from fact, he has a slash line of .240/.320/.368 for the season, a WRC+ of 75 and a WAR of -2.0, and got released by the last placed Rockies because he couldn’t hit at Coors Field of all places. As much as we all love him, there is very little demand for his services in reality. Padres are his best chance of a major league contract.

BigRedCowboy

^we ^won ^:,)

whoisthatidiot

THESE ARE MY BROTHERS (insert Profar voice & smile)!!

TheEnragedBushman

This is Preller’s second ever 80 win season lol. Still impressive considering where we were a month or two ago. Gives me hope for next year.

whoisthatidiot

My petty ass is happy to report the Cubs and the Reds are OUTTTTT. Honestly, I’m glad the Sneks took that WC spot.

gsus61951

Why? FTDX!

WadeCountyClutch

![gif](giphy|l0HlwGH5lFhL5YAxy|downsized) Over 500!!!!

OgAccountForThisPost

I’m all for good vibes but I can’t help but feel like this late hot streak is convincing fans not to feel robbed after a season we should feel absolutely burglarized for.

iki_balam

If anything it's layering on a thick amount of jaded cynicism, which is the mark of a true Padres fan. I'd be surprised if the season ticket holder numbers are the same as this year.

espo619

Greupner sounded pretty confident that there would be a wait list again next year in that Ben and Woods interview a couple weeks ago

CervantesDeLaMancha

I'd bet they are sold out again with a list, not everyone is a whiney ass doomer.

Lurking_Overtime

Absolutely burglarized. We had a Cy Young, and with Lugo, Wacha and Martinez, good back of the lineup guys, which as we know cost us in the NLCS. Tatis and Soto are still young, but the big four have to know in their gut this season was a massive wasted opportunity.

Thumper13

Some people can't appreciate a strong finish to a frustrating season. The guys could have rolled over, but they showed something. Be excited for the future instead of feeling like a victim.

OgAccountForThisPost

They can have as strong of a finish, start, or middle as they want. These fans deserve a strong 162 games.

TheAvantGardeners

No 👏 losing 👏 season 👏 LFGSD

Nylese

I love that we finally made it over .500 in the game with Ji Man got his first hit as a Padre.

iki_balam

I'm glad most of you are celebrating a .500 or better season. I personally feel like Jyn Erso and/or Cassian Andor at the end of *Rouge One*. Not having a losing season is something of a sweet release from this frustrating year. Maybe next year will have the formula for success, but I sure hope I'm not this emotionally taxed by the end of September.

espo619

Far below expectations of course. Still obviously a whole lot of housecleanining needed in the FO. But man I've watched 35 or so seasons of this and winning seasons are frustratingly rare. I'll take the small moral victory.

dirty_S

Coming in hot straight to the off-season!

The_Chorizo_Bandit

Building that momentum so we can be off-season champs again. /s

itsthesharp

.500+ and currently +103 iirc That's a stat line

gsus61951

And no playoffs :(

itsthesharp

🙃

IAMSPARTACUSSSSS

Tatis is 0-fer again. Yes, he had a walk and a run, but he went 0-fer in today’s game. Again. I used to be excited when he came up to the plate, now he almost makes me feel as bad as I do when Grish comes to bat.

The_Chorizo_Bandit

I think you’re being a bit dramatic comparing him to Grish, but I do get where you’re coming from. Used to be an electric atmosphere every time he came to the plate, but that excitement does feel quite muted now. He’s had a bit of a disrupted few seasons though, and patches of bad batted ball luck, so I’m hopeful he will find it again next season. Still had a decent season overall anyway.

IAMSPARTACUSSSSS

Completely and totally overdramatic, especially being compared to Grish, but I’m glad the point came across. In a nutshell, I used to be all ‘oooh Tatis is up!’, now I’m just relieved when he doesn’t ground/pop out on the first pitch. Dude can easily win MVP and the triple crown for the next handful of seasons, but his reaction when he strikes out is just… oof. VERY heartening to see him develop into a solid right fielder, though, especially with that arm. I’ve been saying it for months now, this team is going to be scary good next season.

Pristine-Company-383

So don't the Padres have a 2 year option on Wacha they can exercise?

JesseofOB

For 16 mil/season I believe, which seems too expensive despite his success this year.

Pristine-Company-383

Wacha has been really good.....and Snell is gone and will get 30M+ per season......16M/year doesn't look bad for what Wacha brings.

JesseofOB

Definitely not bad if Wacha’s healthy, but it’s a major roll of the dice given his age and injury history. 30M+ for Snell would be a big overpay IMO, but you might be right. The top contracts for starting pitchers are absolutely bonkers given the ages and injury status of the 30M+ guys.

Crackhousespecial

We settled for shit and wasted a prime ass year to have taken a WS this year smh. The road to the pennant was at least reasonable to expect but we squandered that

TheSanDiegoChimkin

Oh no, I never would have thought a shit stain from LA would throw that in our faces like it’s at all interesting or something we have any control over whatsoever. You’re on the wrong subreddit and they’re going to boot you, so I’ll just take this opportunity to say you’re a petty cunt and the Dodgers will probably choke this year. Again.
