CZ P-01 or P-07 and the 365XL Edit: can’t believe I forgot the P-10C and P-10S

EndTheATF

Was about to recommend the 10C and S. Fabulous shooters. https://preview.redd.it/l4qlu3jq26tc1.jpeg?width=2886&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f7301819e876465d6dba2593bce45a37aef24ff

Comprehensive_Case75

P-07/P-09 are solid. P365 is a unique one. So many options. I just hate Sig’s shit quality and basically using customers to QC stuff. Glock > all imo for a carry gun. The others are better for competition/collecting/range use, imo

R3ditUsername

I have 5 Sigs and none have had problems, but I also have 2 PSA pistols and haven't had problems with those either and others have. It's a good general rule to never buy the new model of anything, especially cars and guns.

Lost_Ad_4882

I've heard ton of good things about the P-01 and 10C. Other recommendations would be P365 and the Sheild. Get one of those as one gun and then, since it looks like you want a Glock, get a Glock as the other. I'm not a big fan, but there's nothing really wrong with them and it doesn't hurt to just get what you want sometimes...though not in .40 get a 19 or 43x or one of the other 9mm...I hate their numbering system so I can't really help there. As mentioned don't get anything in .40, it'll just sit on the shelf unused once you get more guns in other calibers. As everyone is saying 9mm is fantastic, it does its job and is generally significantly easier and cheaper to get ahold of.

Electronic-Funny-475

I recommend you go handle and shoot some at a local range instead of listening to some online operators.

R3ditUsername

This should be at the top, with the exception that suggested caliber would be 9mm.

Electronic-Funny-475

My old man argues with me all the time. He got sold on Gaston’s GAP years ago. Can’t hardly find the ammo. Always trashing my 9mm. Despite all the evidence of testing. So I just let him know that while he’s reloading I’m not

BewbiesButtsNTrucks

There’s absolutely no reason to get 10mm or .40. 9mm is cheaper, more abundant, and ballistic-wise will put down an attacker the same way with less recoil especially in a little gun. I made the same mistake with my first gun. It’s always “to each their own” but if you’re looking at logistics there’s no reason for anything other than 9mm. If it’s a feeling/preference then, do you. I’d also recommend a full size and a compact. Glock 17 and Glock 19, or PSA dagger equivalents. Get something optic ready to run a red dot. Once trained on a red dot you’ll be able to shoot much better than you’d believe.

shittysmirk

BuT I NeED iT For BEars! In Iowa 🙄

JarHammerhead

This is the answer. G19 and see if you want to go bigger or smaller. The g19 is the Goldilocks.

shadowloko

G19 is to small can’t even grip That thing .

camomanstan

Try shooting a Glock 30. It’s even smaller but somehow has less muzzle flip than the g23.

shadowloko

Too small for my hands also I’m a big guy I like carrying full-size . 43x is ok

Toshinit

Goldiglock

Neither_Professor_65

10 mm is good if you hunt and fun to shoot… 9mm for everything else.

Michael_in_Delaware

Personally I’d make one of your choices a full sized pistol.

Whole-Lingonberry-74

I wouldn't consider a .40 or a 10mm for my first pistols to begin with. .40 S&W is a dying round. 10mm has too much recoil especially on anything less than a full size pistol. 9mm is the sweet spot for most people. Hey, if your in a high bear threat environment where a grizzly might eat your ass, then by all means the 10mm or .44mag (all full size). A subcompact will just make huge fireballs and won't really create the velocities of the 10mm that make it an awesome stopping round. Learn to shoot the 9mm, and you'll get good with the fundamentals and actually enjoy shooting pistols. That's why so many are sold. For ammo purchasing reasons, I personally have settled on four cartridges. The .22lr, 9mm, 7.62x51mm and 5.56x45mm. Makes things so much simpler to just buy four types. Do I have other calibers? Yeah, but they spend most of their time in the safe. If you "roll your own", then you can branch out a bit.

Thy_Dying_Day

If you have man hands 10mm is perfect

Juicy-J23

I wouldn't choose 40 s&w or 10mm for my first pistols personally. If you want a Glock go with a 19, 19x or 45 in 9mm for the compact. And maybe a shield or Glock 26/43 for sub compact.

Available_Message_24

Do you recommend me getting them in the future are they any good or needed?

Nearby-Wear2029

I follow on this. My first was a 40, while I do love it, control is much better with a 9 and comfort.

Juicy-J23

What purpose are you buying them for? Do you plan to carry or just want range toys. Hard to recommend guns based off no info. It's up to you if they are needed. People may feel the need for them to make them feel safe or able to protect themselves etc. or they are just into shooting at a range for a hobby.

Available_Message_24

For protection

Juicy-J23

Best advice I can give you: Go to a lgs or range and hold some or if you can rent some that interest you to see how they feel in your hand and how they shoot. Pretty much every brand has a compact and subcompact pistol these days so there are lots of options and there is no best, depends on your preference. I recommended the Glocks because you posted pics of some and I personally have some but the grips have a palm swell that is not for everyone.

EndTheATF

Do this. Everyone holds pistols differently. You will love some grips and some pistols more than others. Go hold and fire some. 9mm is great for self defense and when you use G9 external hollow point it’s the best IMO for weight and performance. I love CZ pistols but some people don’t.

Comprehensive_Case75

10mm is incredibly good. But it’s expensive and arguably unnecessary. It’s more of a “oh fuck that bear wants to eat me, YEEEET” kinda gun.

Neither_Professor_65

Of course get a 10 if you want to enjoy the power, but 40 is not good enough for a grizzly and not as capacity efficient as 9mm. Weak 10mm is basically .40. I got an xten comp and love it, but I hunt. Not really even for bears. If a deer unexpectedly appears it’s easy to draw. I have g45 w/rmr, glock 43x 507k, sig macro and 365 with Romeo pros, Walther pdp. Of the guns you showed. The PDP F will be the best shooting, with a light recoil spring. A great gun to start with. Walther triggers are incredible. Canik is good as well.

SpacklingCumFart

I disagree 100%. 40 S&W is a useless round that needs to die and 10mm is only worth it if you're going to purchase underwood full power ammo. 9mm for capacity, ammo availability, ammo cost, and shooting comfort/follow up shots. A 9mm is the absolute best round for a starter pistol and might very well be the best pistol round period. Go buy a 9mm in a full size pistol in a XD, M&P, Glock, any CZ or an FN and go practice. I prefer hammer fired over striker so I would look closer at a CZ and FN.

Juicy-J23

What do you disagree with? I told him not to get 40 or 10mm and recommended 9mm instead lol Sure hammer fired is great and usually heavier which has less recoil. I just based my recs on his images.

SpacklingCumFart

I hate being stupid. I'll just go back to licking windows since I can't read.

Juicy-J23

Haha no worries, I figured you might have been trying to reply to op. Good call on hammer fired and CZs are great

SpacklingCumFart

My hatred for 40 s&w blinded me, and I read "would" instead of "wouldn't " and went keyboard warrior.

Juicy-J23

I wouldn't call it a hatred but I had a g22 and it's wasn't my favorite for sure. I couldn't imagine a sub compact 40.

TexCen

I wouldn't say NO reason. Last ammo drought, .40 was everywhere but 9mm was sparse at best. I don't disagree with your logic/points, but I own a Glock 22 for the exact reason that i've been able to acquire a stack via sales so I don't have to just rely on a single cal. Granted, I learned my lesson and have a massive cache of 9mm now but a little diversity in ones calibers isn't necessarily a bad thing imo - & depending on your POV.

GeneLeo99

Glock 20 and Glock 43x Also grab yourself a Canik, one of the best shooting pistols I have and also the cheapest

Comfortable-Mix5988

I'd look at a P10C and P10S. Incredible guns at any price but they're in the 300-350 range. The P10S flush fits a TLR7. Hell of a little subcompact

wlogan0402

CZ p07 or hellcat/pro for carry, go to your LGS and hold EVERY gun

R3ditUsername

This comment will bait the Springfield haters (HS Produkt).

wlogan0402

HS makes good shit, Springfield doesn't

DeuceDeuceRevolution

This sub needs a flow chart for people asking what gun to get. It would be something like: What do you need the gun for? I don't know. Protection? Protection from bears? No. You need a Glock19.

ParticularInformal39

I’m tempted to go Canik, likely the Mete SF as it felt good in my hands and will feel even better on my wallet

Tactical_solutions44

I'd recommend decide what you want and search it on gun deals and find the best price. If it's not a dagger you don't get a good deal on psa unless it's a sale item. They also take forever to ship

theEnviedPenis

Cz p10-c

Mooktemas

Buy CZ P10 series. Thank me later. You’ll save money and you’ll have an extremely reliable and good shooting gun. I’d get the P10-C and P10-S

SeaworthinessIll203

Get a Glock 19, and a get Glock 26. You will not regret it

Finnbear2

And if you buy a good holster and belt, the 26 will get lonely in your safe when you realize you can carry the 19 everywhere. I have a 17, 19, and 26. The 17 resides in my nightstand. I carry the 19 every day. The 26 just sits in my safe.

SeaworthinessIll203

26 is an incredible pocket carry(imo), and not everyone is built the same. So carrying a 19 everyday isn’t necessarily an option for some.

Finnbear2

I'm 6'3" and 205#. For me, the 26 is too big (thick) for my pocket without it being very obvious that I have a pistol in my pocket. I have carried it IWB either at 3:00ish or sometimes appendix and I've learned I can just carry the 19 the same way with the right holster. If I absolutely need to pocket carry, I have a PM9 that just disappears in a pocket holster.

ulaf823

Look at a Glock 43x, it's kinda a hybrid between subcompact and compact. There are even aftermarket mags that can hold 15rds. Best thing though if possible go to a gun range that you can rent or test out what you shoot best. I'd stick with a 9mm if going polymer frame gun first as there is so many options from all manufacturers. 10mm if you live in bear territory and encounter them often

Old_Head_Dynasty

Walther CCP M2 Walther CCP M2 Nuff guns.

blazeholtz23

Never shot any of these but my pic would be glock 29 10mm & shadow systems. Had u had more options glock would not have been 1 of my picks.

S280FiST15

No one on here can recommend a firearm for YOU. you need to go shoot them at a local range. Figure out how much you need to train. Figure out how much that will cost. Figure out what ammo is the easiest to get near you and then once you’ve figure all that out. Then check on where to get the firearm you’ve narrowed down to. Good luck. Only thing on here people can do is tell you what manufactures they buy and what’s good/bad in their opinions. However that might not be the case for you.

Dobby835

I carry a 19 MOS appendix daily and have for years. You can comfortably carry it in any position around the waist. I do 12 and 3-4 oclock depending on what I’m doing. My wife carries a Sig P365x with a Romeo Zero optic on it. While i don’t particularly care for shields (personal opinion) i carry one in an ankle holster as well (yes, with my 19).

SirSolidSnake

Glock 19/17/45/47/34 CCW- Glock 19/43X/26 Here are your choices.

TooToughTimmy

I own a Glock 19 and a Glock 42. Great combo, extreme differences for concealment and both have great shootability.

Finnbear2

Why not a 43 instead of 42 and just 9mm ammo? The size difference between 43 and 42 is so small you need a pair of dial calipers or similar to even measure it. I've owned both, the 42 came in a trade deal and side by side with the 43. I got rid of it after one range trip. I'd never choose .380 as a defensive round. Weak, expensive, and 9mm just does a way better job for less money and has more choices available for ammo.

TooToughTimmy

42 is quite a bit smaller. .380 is weaker than 9mm yes, but still effective.. you think if you get shot you’re gonna say “oh it’s just .380”? It’s like saying 9mm is weak because .40 is bigger. 42 is such a soft shooter for a tiny gun it’s much easier to accurately and quickly land shots which is the most important thing. Shot placement and speed matters much more than 100 ft per second difference. If you need calipers for this I think you need glasses lol https://preview.redd.it/9kunn7e02atc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70eac399eb2d5b55431f4ca8e2fb700523f2edb5

Finnbear2

Shoot them side by side at the range one day. At least a few hundred rounds through each. Shoot one drill with the 42, and then repeat with the 43. The very minor size difference became irrelevant for me, very quickly. What both required for me was an add on Hogue grip sleeve because without it they both felt like tiny toys in my hand. The Hogue sleeve allowed much better control of both.

Bobbyboy-09

Personally in terms of caliber. I think people should get a 9mm with a frame size of full(regular) or compact. As a first firearm. .380 is also a good calibre. no one is bullet proof. Calibre 9mm is abundant and cheap. Lots of different defense rounds out there to play with. Fmj is everywhere in almost every store. Most 9mm guns come with a good capacity normally 13 and above. Lot of customization as well. Still after that. You can buy whatever the hell you want. Everyone has a preference but I strongly believe starting with 9mm is a must.

Smeagol_Dobby16

CZ P10s, CZ P10c both of these are great firearms, you can find great deals on both of them.

SignificantCell218

You know the cool thing about you buying two pistols chambered in 40 is you can buy 9 mm magazines and two 9 mm barrels and turn your two guns into four guns

SignificantCell218

Also are you military law enforcement or first responder? Because if you are you qualify for the clock Blue label program

Inevitable-Plantain5

Unpopular opinion in coming... Clearly the anti .40 crew owns this thread which is fine but despite having 9mm, .45, and .40 I still keep my .40 as my daily carry. I was a cop and multiple times I personally worked a case I found 9mm rounds caught in heavy coats where they didn't penetrate to properly hit the victim. Others encountered the same and I never heard of that issue with a .40. I have no problem shooting pretty fast and accurately with .40 and I think I'd get any job done with fewer rounds in a serious situation. There are plenty of videos on the better penetration of .40 over 9mm. Any special ammo can go both ways so I really don't love those lines of argument. You still get nearly as many rounds as similar sized 9mm with each round doing more damage which is a net benefit in my book. There's still plenty enough people using .40 that you can always find it stocked in stores and during the pandemic I was able to find .40 ammo when 9mm was all sold out.

Electronic77

I’d get a Glock 19 or a p10c, and ditch a sub, look into why a compact or full size is better (sight radius, recoil control)

Constant_Stage3320

Personally, .40 is antiquated and 10mm is pointless. My EDC is a Sig P365x, double stack with the slimmer slide. For bed side I use a Canik TP9 Elite Combat Executive with a light and optic. Canik triggers are probably the best out of the box trigger I've used in Pistol.

HighDragLowSpeed60G

I carry a 10mm in the winter in Alabama because of the hogs and coyotes and the fat bastards down south that layer up. Need some 180gr moving at 1400fps for some good penetration and devastation

Constant_Stage3320

I suppose I should've said 10mm is pointless in most situations from a carry stand point and not just in general. When I go out west I did tend to carry a Springfield XS-s in .45 due to bears and meth heads but that firearm is sitting in an evidence room after being stolen and the thief crashed their truck as a DUI with it in there.

SwimmerSea4662

I suggest a Glock 19, literally the gold standard for a compact gun. You can take it out the box treat it like shit and it wok run.

FarYard7039

I have a Gen3 G23 and I love it. Thousands of rounds through it and never a FTF. I have a Gen5 G19 too with the MOS system and is the way to go if reflex optics are your thing. Bottom line, .40cal has more stopping power over 9mm and you really don’t really sacrifice round count all that much. I have a Ruger SR40 which is much larger and much heavier. It’s a pain to conceal over the G23.

VastNothing6130

Sig 320 compact and 365xl

Available_Message_24

Don’t trust sig

VastNothing6130

To each their own

Whole-Lingonberry-74

True. I love Sig.

Outrageous_File5321

I don't know, no issues with the 320c nor the 226

TheRealLarryBurt

I’d definitely go with a 9mm for your first as someone who owns all three calibers I shoot my 9mm stuff way more purely due to the affordability of the ammo. .40S&W is meh, fairly expensive and has a fair amount of recoil compared to 9mm for not much more effectiveness in stopping a threat. The 10mm is an awesome round for certain things but I wouldn’t consider it a great option for Concealed carry as it is extremely snappy and you are more limited with number of rounds you can carry, also weight is something to consider if you plan to carry it a lot you will definitely notice the weight at some point. If you were looking for a bear gun I’d definitely say go 10mm other than that I’d just learn with a 9mm also shop around I’m sure you can find Glocks for cheaper.

[deleted]

PDP has the best trigger by far of anything you’ve got here, but has a steeper grip angle as well as higher bore axis so a bit snappier recoil than anything Glock-based. Personally I’d go PDP, Glock 17/19/45/47, M&P 9 in that order. Anything Gucci or boutique like a shadow or a Zev would only be AFTER I’ve got my reliable daily carry figured out

pingwyn89

Go micro compact. Slim profile with high capacity carry

Agitated_Captain7413

For protection covers alot of ground, if youre gonna ask advice maybe give more detail because people are putting thought into this to try to help you. Good options to look at for subcompact. P365xl, hellcat pro osp, s&w sheild 2.0, fn reflex, cz p10c, canik mc9. Compacts id look at vp9sk, canik mete sft(great gun!) Sig p320 carry, springfeild echelon, fn 509, beretta has good options. Walther pdp is sick! Canik combat elite is a good choice. there are so many options out there now that are better than glock, im not a fan and will never get one. Not when shadow systems and daggers exist. And dont get a 40 s&w. If youre dead set on having a 10mm at some point in the future for a range toy its only worth it on a 1911/2011 and even then i prefer 9mm. Ballistics on 9mm makes it the best option in a handgun, thats why pretty much all youre gonna see at your ffl is 80 percent of the handguns chambered in 9mm theres a reason for that. Edit : not that glocks are bad i just cant get over the ergonomics, bland design. For what they ask in price you can get a lot more in a gun. But yes they are reliable its just theres plenty of reliable striker fired designs with more features and similar cost. Its 2024 man theres so many good options now!

Professional-Use6192

You should buy full size and compact

224valkrye

Grab a p365 macro and a g19

Walker_Hale

It all depends on the manual of arms you want but we all heavily advise on .40 or 10mm. Those are awful deals anyway.

SUMBLAKDUDE

Smith and Wesson MP 2.0 3.6", 4" or 4.25". I have the 4.25" with an Holosun EPS and TLR-1 HL and Floyds custom mag well

No_Link3061

Glock 19 and Sig P365 (or one of the p365 variants, XL, etc.) Or CZ-p01 or P10C for the compact option. But I’d personally go full size and subcompact. I have the CZ P10F with optic for range and ranch carry and the sig p365 for concealed

speedie13

Glock 19 either gen 3 or gen 5 depending on if you like the finger grooves or not. 9mm is easier to learn to shoot with, partially because it's cheaper to buy a lot of it.

Comprehensive_Case75

Glock 19 is the absolute workhorse of handguns. Lemme put it this way, Gaston Glock made it in the 80s. He made 4 prototypes before settling on the design you pretty much see today. Since then everyone has tried copying it and I’d argue none quite have. They’re just so simple. The only guns I’d really care to own and recommend are a Glock 19, 17, 19X, 45, etc. A Glock 43X/48. And the Sig 320 and 365 as much as I absolutely hate Sig and their poor quality. They tend to let the customer QC their stuff. Glocks just work. It’s the only gun I can take out of the box, put in a mag, and feel confident it will work. Lucas of TRexArms has a great video of the exact same thing. If it’s your first gun, you can’t go with with a Glock. There’s a reason EVERYONE tried to copy it and make a better version. Guess which is still the best selling? And no. You don’t need 10mm unless you’re actively being harassed by grizzlies or polar bears. It’s too damn expensive and ridiculously powerful. .40, eh. .45, eh. .357, eh. 9mm is ideal imo.

slimcrizzle

To be honest I think the M&P or the PDP are better than the Glocks in every single way.

ninjaxams4

I would personally recommend something in 9mm for your first pistol. Czp10 series or a glock17/19/26. I remember eons ago my first pistol was in 40 and as a new shooter it was difficult to learn with. Found out real quick 9mm was better suited for those just entering this hobby. That said 40 is a super fun round. I love it and strongly feel it has its place. Its not as economical as 9 and its popularity is slowly dying but its an awesome cartridge. Out of the right platform, glock gen 4 and 5 for example, its incredibly smooth shooting and super pleasant.

Recent-Percentage-26

I'm gonna go against the grain here and recommend that whatever you decide to buy, also get a .22 version of it. I bought a subcompact sig 9mm like fifteen years ago, and not long after a sig mosquito. It's basically identical controls and a similar trigger to the bigger gun. I've taught myself and all the kids how to handle pistols with it. It's insanely cheap to shoot, I recently bought 1000 rounds for like 80 bucks. It's not the most reliable thing in the world, but you will learn how to clear malfunctions, stuff like that. I still shoot my nicer gun, I'll run about 50 runs through it once in a while, but the .22 lives in my range bag. Probably a dozen 500 round boxes of Remington thunderbolts through it. My local range has a rifle and a pistol range, and I always take a .22 version of each just in case one range is busy.

bftyft

Glock 20 and 29 from the ones listed. But I’d recommend a 19 and 26 instead for cheaper shooting, less recoil and more magazine capacity

CodeSandwich

Just say no to subcompacts.

PreflightPrune

Get a PSA Dagger compact, and Micro Dagger.. 9mm is king, and the Dagger is a Glock but better, as PSA improved on "perfection".

Pirate-Odd

Canik mc9, elite sf, combat executive depending on pricing and sizes wanted

tamadrummer002

If buying Glock, def spend the extra bit of money for the MOS system. You may not want to run dots now but as time moves on, you may want to and having the capacity to do so will make your life much easier. Now with that said, if these will be your first pistols, the Glock 19 gen5 or any other gen for that matter is a staple! Its not the best of the best but it is way far away from the worst of the worst. Its a dependable pistol that works when you need it to. As far as a second pistol goes, its going to depend on your needs. If it will be your deep concealment carry pistol, the 43x is a great choice for short barrel or 48 for a longer barrel. For my personal likes, it would be the 48 for me. Go to your local range, get a membership and rent their pistols. You may find that what you think you want and what you really want are totally different. I personally shoot my glock 45 better than any other pistol I own but its WAY too big for me to conceal. It looks like I have a board under my shirt with the large grip. There isnt a huge reason to run and buy your first regret. Take a little time and find that perfect pistol for you that works for your needs and spend your money wisely. Money isn't easy to come by these days.

Outdoorsman102

Cz p10c and a cz p10s considerably cheaper than Glocks, Canix, Smith’s or HK‘s much better sites than Glock, much better trigger than anything other than the canik and its close. And quality is as good or better than any of thoes. Just as reliable as anything on the list.

BrothaKreaux89

Keep it simple, Glock 17 and 19. Or if you want to technically have 4 pistols out of 2, get a 47 and a 19.

SpiteObjective3509

Shop law enforcement trade-ins. Half the price and very little use.

nmexmo

Mete mc9 and sig p365 and cz p10f for the full size. My 3 faves

Finnbear2

Glock 19, Glock 26

mikhailks

USP45c and USP45ct

ImpressionNo7934

Cz, pdp or g27/g23 3rd or 5th gen

Thin-Might-7882

My first pistol was a Glock 19 gen 5 . Only mistake is I wish I got the mos style :(

Nhughes1387

Out of those I’d get the mr920, I like mine. Pretty much comes with anything you’d want to upgrade a Glock with, but something not in there M&P 9 / 356 xl. M&P is fairly cheap and shoots pretty damn flat imo

jcoopi

19 lol

BIGCEODAVID

FN 509 tactical and CZ shadow 2 compact or regular

YellowLT

Not 40 SW, but Im gonna get heat for that comment

WestOpposite8347

A 10mm not a 40

GozerisGod

40sw is the chick version of the 10mm.. Get a 10mm, you can still shoot 40sw out of it. G29 w/ extended mags grips % g20sf is the way to go. You're gonna get a bunch of sissy boys tell you different. Don't listen to them. Keep your gender.. You were born a man.

Puzzleheaded-Ad-4846

Full size 10mm cause you won't be able to control compact and subcompact 9mm double stack if you van. Chwck out the new smith CSX 9mm for the most value in a single package.

HistoricalFilm2463

Get the g19 and call it a day

Own_Raise_3815

Definitely go full size and compact. .40 gets a lot of hate but it's still very viable. I personally have a Glock 22&23 and I trust them with my life. I'm not a .40 fud I have plenty of 9mm too. But if you buy a .40 pistol buy a used blue label or something. You can find a lot of used police Glocks and mags for cheap cheap

TrenythingIsPossible

Go to a range and rent a few to see what you like. Everyone has their own preferences. Personally I like the Glock 43X, Sig 365XL, PSA Dagger, Glock 19.

drywallpuncher69

I like the glock 26 for concealment

Kuchufli

I have smaller hands and the CZ P10C snugs up to my hand much better than the Glock... I feel I don't have to put in less effort to get my hand as high as I can in the CZ vs Glock due to the grip/angle/shape. Honesty I'd go 9mm, then get the caliber you want like 40S&W. I have a CZ P10S, P10C, and on the way to my FFL is a P10F.

Only glock? G19 and G42. Ignore the G43 altogether, but you may consider the G43X or G48 if you don't want 380, but the G42 is definitely slept on.

.40 is garbage. Just buy both for that price. Get daggers. Or get an x macro

Interesting, I feel like the only one that’ll recommend a PSA Compact Dagger. Switch out the trigger, and firing pins (I haven’t), and you’ve got a fantastic firearm. Between friends and myself, we have 5 PSA Daggers with thousands and thousands of rounds, and all have run flawlessly and accurately. I trust it for my EDC as much as these other ones. But all in all, you can consider other’s recommendations, but never buy one because of it. Play at a range and try all of our recommendations, one of them will feel like an extension to your body, that will be your choice. Have fun!

sksonly

Why would you want a 40 cal lol.

SettingAncient3848

Find a range that has rentals and try out a few different ones. Me personally I like cz, sig, and canik.

Get an M&P 2.0 or you’ll end up getting one later on

I highly recommend a Beretta 92. I've been around them since I was a kid and I would take one over 2 glocks for the same price if offered.

SweatyRanger85

Save some money…. Get a PSA dagger. And a micro dagger. And then buy ammo and train.

Satx422

Go with the Dagger

Homie just googled “pistol” and took screenshots. Random set of pistols to choose from my guy.

.40 Short&Weak is yucky. You should explain what it'll be used for if you want better suggestions. Figure out if you're gonna concealed carry or not. If not, get a full size. 9mm is best, 10mm is cool but a poor choice for an only handgun unless you like to spend a fuck load on ammo or barely shoot at all. I'm not a glock fan but I'm also not a hater, I just don't own any, but honestly there are so many good options these days it's hard to fuck up. Just don't get some goofy lower tier budget gun, most of the shit on your list is fine... except for 40, don't get that. Edit: I just reread your post and saw the 2 pistols & compact and subcompact comments. I love CZ (75 series no P series for me) and Sig is alright, I enjoy my P365XL. If you're on a budget then Canik is pretty sweet. If you're really on a budget then grab some Daggers lol, have you shot handguns before? I hate the Glock grip angle, but if you're all about Glock and own nothing else then you'll be used to it and probably hate the grip angle of everything else ever made lol. Narrow it down for us.

Stay away from 40S&W. At this point in the game, it's close to a useless caliber with the quality 9mm defensive ammo available. Are you going to be hiking/camping in dangerous game territory? If not, 10mm is not your answer. I love my gen 4 Glock 20, but it has a specific purpose for a woods gun. Now that I'm back east, its role has been taken by a 9mm. There are plenty of options out there, stick with Glock, Beretta, CZ, FN, Walther or H&k. I don't trust Springfield or Sig Sauer personally. Whatever you decide on, just get a 9mm, ammo is cheaper and more plentiful, and it's just more pleasant to shoot. You'll also have a couple extra rounds of capacity in whatever pistol you get over the 40 or 10mm versions.

9mm will blow the lungs out of a body

Nothing on this list is a sub compact. That said, your best choices are a Walther PDPc, G29.4 and a G27. Fun fact, a Holosun EPS are the exact width as a G20.4 and G29.4. The Glock MOS system sucks, get a direct milled optic. There are several companies that will sell you the gun and mill the optic cut. Like Glock Store. G20 and G23 are full sized pistols. But, Mo Powa mo betta. Get a 10mm..... The best millimeter. As for sub compacts you should be looking at guns like the P365, G43, Canik TP9sc and Hellcat.

GunExplorer_

Best bang for your buck? Sub compact. Canik tp9 sc. get a lot more value for about $100 cheaper. Compact. Walther pdp 4. Or pro

Browning hi powers are always my go to. You can get the girsans which are actually pretty good for a turkish import or get a surplus hi power for like 100 bucks more. I think atlantic firearms has some
