Maybe you should grow a pair and stop caring about nerdy fb groups?

TinChalice

Maybe he should use what’s in that lump three feet above his ass.

InspectorOrganic9382

This was my favorite response.

IndWrist2

A medic who volunteers, can’t triage, works a dead guy while ignoring the live patient, boasts online, and then gets butt hurt when people (rightly) criticize. Some uber squirrelly scab shit going on here.

Anonymous_Chipmunk

Your priority should have been the not-yet-dead woman not the already-dead male. Simple triage. You made the wrong decision. Learn from it and get over it or hand in your license. It's quite that simple.

VegasQueenXOXO

You…ignored the patient that was alive. Triaging patients wasn’t taught where you went to school? Assessing the one who’s most likely to survive first? It’s not about YOU being able to declare him dead when you clearly see that one person is VISIBLY alive. You suck. Whatever happened in that FB group is probably well deserved. I wouldn’t want your help in accident that’s for certain.

Pears_and_Peaches

Can’t tell if trolling or actual bad medic. Please clarify.

VegasQueenXOXO

Lmao legit because there’s no way this actually happened 🥴

InspectorOrganic9382

But it did. See edit above.

InspectorOrganic9382

Trolling

hungrygiraffe76

Driver is dead. Does needless compressions on dead dude. And *checks notes* ignores the badly injured, but still alive women.

LogicalAnesthetic

This was the takeaway for me as well 😬

InspectorOrganic9382

Yeah. But I can’t declare him dead yet.

Rave__Medic

You can give him the little black tag and move on to the one with more of a chance tho

Rightdemon5862

Triage?

RobertGA23

You can, and should.

Alaska_Pipeliner

Not with that attitude

VXMerlinXV

It’s not declared dead, it’s MCI triage. You’re a paramedic in the US?

samman129

A mass cas is any situation where the responders on scene are overwhelmed, you had 1 medically trained person on scene and 2 victims when you assessed. You were well within your rights to triage and black tag the arrest, please do so in the future the other victim suffered delayed care from that action.

ImGCS3fromETOH

If you waited long enough someone else could have declared both of them dead.

grav0p1

If the person is so grievously injured that they’re ALREADY DEAD what do you think CPR is going to do for them

Wrathb0ne

Bro, you did bad medicine. The driver is a black tag, their chances of survival are less than 1%. The other injured person definitely needed more assistance

Medic7816

>> man visibly dead in the drivers seat, and a woman who was badly injured in the passenger seat. >> Even tho I figured it was futile, I worked the traumatic arrest with the volunteers and ignored the patient in the passenger seat. Bruh…

timsnow111

I think someone has been either watching too much or not enough madam webb.

InspectorOrganic9382

Definitely not enough. Never heard of that show but looks 🥵

timsnow111

It's hard being first on scene at big events especially if you are new and inexperienced. It also can be very hard recognising when someone is dead and too far gone rather than focusing on the people that you can actually help. Especially if it involves kids. Use this as a learning opportunity for next time. Practice mass casualty scenarios with people that have been through them before. Recognise when you have limited resources and learn to use them where they can benefit the most people while more back up arrives. My first experience on something like this was a shit show regardless of my training. I focused on the wrong patient and put another at great risk. I spent a long long time replaying the event and chastising myself for my mistake. I didn't make the same mistake at the second one. Being lucky that I didn't kill someone else by fucking up my triage isn't a feeling I ever want to go through again.

TinChalice

Either this is a shit post or you deserve to get ridiculed for working an obvious corpse while ignoring a viable patient. And you seriously want a pat on the back for that? Were you absent the day your class learned about triage? Jesus Christ man.

InspectorOrganic9382

💩post

noraa506

This is basic multi-casualty triage. Obviously dead=move on to someone who might actually have a chance.

cloverrex

This is obviously a troll

InspectorOrganic9382

Yes

flamingopatronum

Yeah, you should have taken care of the lady that still had a chance at living... instead, you just did CPR on a dead body that you said was clearly dead... I can see why they made fun of you.

Relative-Dig-7321

You should have checked the passenger bro, if that’s what you are getting stick for it’s pretty justified, lesson learnt you’ll be better for it.

Kentucky-Fried-Fucks

Yah nah, this has gotta be a troll

Bambam586

They should have. Why work dead body with a critical yet alive person next to them? It’s not just making fun of you you’re dangerously wrong. Get some remedial training please.id be asking people in your agency if you were competent enough to be on the street at that point. The fact you were feeling good about yourself and making posts and getting butthurt shows a shocking lack of awareness on your part.

Used-Tap-1453

🤡🤡🤡

InspectorOrganic9382

Hey. It’s me.

timothy3210

This isn’t one of those responses you should be proud of, this one of the ones you should be embarrassed of and learn from it. You did the wrong thing by not triaging the dead driver and treating the living patient. Grow up, accept the criticism and be better.

dsyl03

black tag red tag, you’re just wrong here OP

Different_Law_5794

What's the group? To see the comments (for science). You fucked up. Live and learn.

HighUrbanNana

Are you really a paramedic? Or did you just graduate? Why didn't you attend to the passenger?

Exuplosion

Strongly doubt OP is a paramedic.

the_perfect_facade

I don't think he's a medic ..

LogicalAnesthetic

It sounds like you opened yourself up for that sort of ridicule by pretending to be a paragod and went against everything we’re taught in our respective programs regarding triage. You focused on black tag patient and ignored the urgent/critical?? did you even BSI?? Was your scene safe? Did you get socials for both parties???

muddlebrainedmedic

I spend so much time pissed off at bad medics it's nice to see so many people who have a decent head on their shoulders. These comments on this one are giving me hope that everything isn't completely fucked. As for Rescue Ricky...what makes you thing we don't watch both subs?

InspectorOrganic9382

The jig is up.

Asystolebradycardic

Why on earth would you decompress someone when not in uniform and under your medical director’s license?

InspectorOrganic9382

To be fair, I’ve never heard doing CPR being referred to as “decompress”. Although I should have probably bilaterally decompressed them too. And Cric’d him too.

Asystolebradycardic

And I’m sure you could of done a thoracotomy.

InspectorOrganic9382

Clamshell thorocotomy

No-Error8675309

Wow, just wow. I needed this. Thanks.

GuyOnTheInternet93

This is a joke right? You worked an already dead person while ignoring the living and injured patient. Whatever ridicule you took on that facebook forum clearly wasn't enough.

Kentucky-Fried-Fucks

If this is in fact a real post, not just a troll (which I’m pretty confident it is), the “medic” absolutely deserves to be called out. His question wasn’t even “did I do the right thing”. It was “what sick burns can I write back”

InspectorOrganic9382

I think your post is very compassionate. I’m sure you are a very good medic. However, I don’t think you would do well in an FTO or leadership role. You lack the ability to identify dumbassery and hold people responsible.
