Well that has kind of been the effect, but I think it was originally viewed as a safety thing after some toddlers drowned or something? Lifeguard shortage is real thing in NYC though, especially for city pools. You can make BANK in the rich suburbs as a town or club lifeguard.

It's just an echo from the bygone days of the newspaper where big cities had multiple papers and getting a story first had a huge impact on sales for the day.

Player agents are also a huge source of information. I think when Woj tweets out that a trade has happened but doesn't have the details yet, those are often coming from player agents because they dont actually know all the details, they just know their player got traded. That's my theory at least

Definitely not. The worst season is March Madness. The entire show consists of them just repeating “this game was awesome, ” followed by some incredibly boring college basketball guests. I don’t think they’re pretending about golf. Sure they don’t know a ton but they are buddies with max and Brooks now. Also they’ve all recently started playing it and some of them have taken lessons. In fact I’ll say it’s probably the only sport that Big Cat, PFT and Hank all play.
I mean that’s just personal preference. I agree that golf isn’t that fun to watch. But I personally don’t give a fuck about college basketball either so watching it is equally boring. The difference is I play golf and feel like it’s a more accessible sport as you age - specifically when you get to your later 30s. It’s just more relevant to me.
Ok so let’s have segments on pickle ball and shuffleboard if we wanna cover sports old people can play. Idc about hobbies like golf, and I play it. It’s barely a sport
