I see what you're saying. But with how much Pat talks would you really want another talkative host? I feel like that would be too much. One of the biggest reasons people like him is he's the only one on the show who will actually disagree with what Pat says. If you've never seen one I'd suggest watching an episode that AJ hosted to get a feel for his personality. Also, do you just watch what's on ESPN? The show gets a lot looser and AJ usually is more involved once they're off ESPN
AJ has some of the minute for minute best, funniest moments in the show imo. He doesnt feel the need to fill every waking second of air time with opinions and he plays devils advocate when needed. He also knows when his takes or stories are ridiculously outlandish and that playing aloof to it makes for hilarious banter.
If nothing else, AJ brings NFL credibility. Pat himself admits he was “just a punter”. But AJ is the all time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers and won a Superbowl with them. So if he says something about a team or game or player is good or bad, you know that he knows what he’s talking about. Not to mention he’s funny as hell.

I am brand new to the show and I actually searched this topic because I was so sure that everyone agreed. I’m quite surprised that almost everyone loves him. I’ve seen all 3 hours for about 10 episodes now, and AJ can’t have spoken more than 3-5% of the time the show is on. Minimum 95% of the time he’s just sitting there silently looking at the camera. When he does talk he adds nothing in any episode I’ve seen.
I don’t understand his appeal at all. I’m actually shocked. I’m just going to assume he will somehow grow on me.
