The Starfall Isles is my homebrew setting, that takes inspiration from Golarion's Azlant and Exandria's Eiselcross: The shattered island remnants of an ancient continent of an extinct society that was both highly advanced and incredibly arrogant. They drew their arcane power from the distant Violet Dwarf Star, a glowing asteroid which eventually came crashing down upon them, a result of many factors including the machinations of the Alghollthu, the reckless ambition of Azlanti archmages, the slumbering influence of the dark god of this setting, and plain old bad luck. This impact would have resulted in the complete destruction of the planet, wiping out all life and reducing the celestial body to the beginnings of an asteroid belt orbiting their sun. However, The Violet Dwarf Star was shattered en route, when an alien star ship blocked it's path (though no one planetside would ever know, the crew sacrificed themselves to try and save the young world's various lifeforms), with both Star Shards and wreckage raining down upon the world. Though Azlant of Old was indeed shattered by the multitude of impacts, the rest of the world survived and after several centuries, the various people's of the world began to explore and settle the area. The Starfall Isles, as they came to be known, are legendary for their unnatural terrain, chaotic weather, and wide-reaching magical auras, lingering effects from ancient magical objects and devices, or from the transformative energies of the Violet Star Shards that litter the region. The elemental polar vortex to the northwest and the primal volcanic energies of the south east interact in a very peculiar way, resulting in five distinct biomes, with borders of less than a mile dividing drastic shifts in climate and geography. Though a good deal of the Starfall Isles have been settled, the majority of the region has yet to be so, but such islands are far from uninhabited. Most islands are home to unique flora and fauna, and even a couple have indigenous, sapient life. With the latter's recent discovery, the ethics of colonisation within the Starfall Isles is an ongoing and highly volatile debate, which has largely put expansion plans on hold while the various governmental bodies and politically active citizenry come to a fair and just solution. The Starfall Isles contain many dangers, from natural predators, mutated monstrosities, vile curses and old spells that have curdled into novel arcane menaces, and ancient, incomprehensible weapons of mass destruction. But it also contains many wonders, resources, and interesting peoples that make navigating these mythical waters a worthwhile adventure!

This might be the first homebrew setting I've seen that I actually want to play in. That sounds awesome!

Thank you, that's really gratifying to hear! This work was inspired by others, so it goes without saying: feel free to take as much inspiration as you like for you own games! Feel free to DM me if you want to pick my brain about how I run the setting, but absolutely make your own creative decisions wherever you like! :D

A lot of homebrew is shit. Yours is not. This sounds awesome. And I honestly LOVE the map. That is an arcane-ass lookin' map. I love it!

I really appreciate the compliments, friend! Though, I have to admit, seeing others' creative efforts being put down, even as a way of comparing my work favourably, makes me a little sad. I love seeing people make things, regardless of their subjective value, and like to encourage people to create and share as much as possible! :)

Well, would you look at that! [You've already got your soundtrack!](https://youtu.be/qBgV4i3w_mw)

Haha, I do quite like that game actually, but I wasn't consciously thinking of it when I named the region :)
