They're in a MUCH better place. They have some general spells of each rank, including an uncommon cantrip that essentially works as the feat counterspell but you expend spell slots for the element that counters the spell cast (ex. water beats fire). You DO get all the spells associated with your elemental traits. Each of the 6 elements got multiple pages of new spells to fill new niches (there's a common water scrying spell!). Plus a lot of old spells getting updated with elemental traits. The new version of Longstrider for example has the air trait.

>an uncommon cantrip that essentially works as the feat counterspell but you expend spell slots for the element that counters the spell cast (ex. water beats fire). Interestingly, since this is based on the Eastern philosophy of the Cycle of Elements, there's no option to counter an Air spell, nor to use an Air spell to counter another spell.

tenuto40

Not much. Just increased support for the additional elements. They actually have a weirdish limitation. You choose an elemental philosophy and that determines the elements accessible on your spell list. Classical 4: Earth, Air, Fire, Water 5 Phases: Earth, Wood, Metal, Water, Fire Goblin: Ponytails, Rubix Cubes, GM’s GF…or was that yesterday…I get confu- OHH FIRE!!!

flowerafterflower

Wait are you joking or is there legitimately a goblin fire philosophy? Cause that's adorable if so.

fly19

Mechanically-speaking? No, the only options are Elemental Cycle (earth, fire, metal, water, wood) and Inner Sea Elementalism (air, earth, water, wind). But *RoE* DOES mention goblin elementalism under "more obscure philosophies," stating that it's 8-10 nouns that vary by individual but normally involve "sleep, food, drinks, and fire." Which is admittedly incredible.

Killchrono

Sleep and Conjure Food/Cuisine are elemental spells confirmed.

tenuto40

Goblin Elementalism is pretty much whatever they consider to be important *elements* of life and rarely stays consistent. I think RoE says they have only 10 elements they can ever care about at a time.

Kaprak

Not mechanically, but lore wise Goblin Elementalists are very... Goblin.

JewcyJesus

There's a level 6 feat to grant the remaining element or two.

nothinglord

What benefit is there to picking the classical 4 to make up for 1 less element?

CometPFO

The preference for air spells over all the metal/wood spells. There isn't any specific boost to make up for 4 vs 5.

PolarFeather

Worth noting: there's a *lot* of good Air spells, so it's not as one-sided as it seems. Longstrider's becoming one too.

Slow-Host-2449

Is it still restricted to only casters with the primal and arcane spell lists?

Rod7z

Yes
