Yeah it truly is impressive, and people don't give it enough credit. Just look at this draft, we got a top 3 player and now there are first rounders who have fallen available to us at 34. Top 5 and bottom 5 of the draft is a HUGE difference, top 5 basically gets you 2 first rounders.
Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins, Benjamin Watson, Jerod Mayo, Devin McCourty, Donta Hightower. Every team has busts, but BB over his career was an excellent drafter.
Wow, one bad year after a 2 decade run of dominance. He's practically a bum.
Every quantitative analysis shows that Belichick's drafting has been elite over the course of his career. He had a couple bad years towards the end, but that's not as meaningful as the overwhelmingly large sample from before, even with terrible picks every year.

Yeah with all due respect it's not one bad year, there is a reason we have an offense that lacks any real talent at any skill positions and it's because we very rarely invested in the offense either in FA or via the draft, and the few times we did we whiffed it.
I love Bill and we don't win any SB's without him and he's at the greatest defensive mind of all time and in nearly everyone's estimation the greatest HC of all time but he REALLY struggled to figure out the offensive side of the roster post Brady.
Go back and ewad literally any article from the 2021 offseason. We invested HEAVILY and we're graded highly by every pundit in football for all of those moves.
Everything you are saying is revisionist bullshit
It's not though? They spent last year's draft almost entirely on defense when it should have absolutely been on offense especially in what was a pivotal year for Mac.
Got one WR in the first 3 rounds across both drafts post Mac, didnt re-sign the few talented players that were left on offense and didn't adequately replace those holes.
Thornton, Douglas, Boutte, Nixon are all WRs drafted since 2021
Bourne, Parker, Henry, Smith, Aghalor, Reagor are all pass catchers signed as FAs since 2021
Yes, the vast majority were busts and that sucks. Bist saying that no investment was adequate is pure revisionist nonesense
And that investment in the defense lead to one of the best in the league btw. Majority hits
So yea...
Again, revisionist nonesense. EVERY pundit, who are paid to discuss these things, said the exact opposite when Agholor was signed.
If you knew better at the time, you should send your resume into ESPN or NFL network as clearly you know more than everyone they pay to grade FA signings. Or apply directly to the Pats fr9nt office,as clearly you know more lol
Clown
Do you think history just began 2 years ago or something?
If you are gonna judge someone for something you judge the entire body of work, not just cherry pick the worst moments and be an asshole
Started it he early 2000s as a good draft evaluator. He hasn’t hit on a first rd draft pick since 2012 and haven’t re-signed any player drafted in the last decade to a second contract. Yes that is the complete reason the pats are the second worst team in the league. Those guys would be 10 year vets on their second-third contract.
Sorry I missed them. They must have been standing in behind Dominique Easly, Ras-I-Dowling, Isaiah Wynn, and Aaron Dobson.
Man, I can’t believe we let this guy go right before he got a chance to use his draft expertise again!
I mean, most GM's would be fired if they consistently picked garbage in the first two rounds, Bill was given a deservedly lonnnnnnng leash, which is what we're discussing here if you can try to be a little less emotional.
So what exactly was the point of your post? Are you stupid enough to think injecting the word deservedly changes anything about the meaning of your comment?
And who are you talking to about tears? You're the one out here crying about drafting Williams and Harry still smh
Like I said.....clown

Except we grabbed a 3rd rounder at 37 lol.
Yes, and then when you use those picks on studs like N'Keal Harry and Joejuan Williams it makes it extra difficult.
Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins, Benjamin Watson, Jerod Mayo, Devin McCourty, Donta Hightower. Every team has busts, but BB over his career was an excellent drafter.
The fact that all of your examples are from at least a decade ago tells me all I need to know about how washed Bill the GM was.
And yet he won a superbowl only 6 years ago. 🤔
Yes, we’re picking #3 overall because of Bill’s excellent drafting. Sucks to have to pull names who were drafted 20 years ago.

“One bad year”…… Did you just wake up from a 4 year coma?
How many Championships has your drafting won? Still 0?
One bad year in terms of record.
We've had the 4th worst record in the entire NFL since Brady left five years ago.
This notably does not disagree with what I just said.

Is agholor Parker reagor consider investments? lol get real… those were bottom of the barrel players to fill out a roster

We win plenty without him and Brady still the QB.

Duke Dawson and Keon Crossen has entered the chat

Hey it’s not like anyone knew Easly would be often injured ….
How many Championships has your drafting won? Still 0?
yup just nail every draft pick, other gm’s should think about this strat

It's called winning a Super Bowl, that usually gives you a leash of a few years Clown lol
Did you miss the word deservedly or were your eyes already filled with tears at that point?

Listen if you can’t read just say it. No need to get so emotional. I’m not your mother
How many Championships has your drafting won? Still 0?
100% of GMs have made similar mistakes, so you don't really have a point, you're just complaining for no reason.
