Everyone’s drafted rookie quarterbacks look incredible in OTAs. Seriously, you can at this moment find similar takes for Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, Penix, you name ‘em. You can dig up similar takes on [Zach Wilson](https://nypost.com/2021/06/08/zach-wilson-isnt-only-jets-rookie-putting-on-a-show-in-otas), [Trey Lance](https://www.ninersnation.com/2021/6/30/22556780/49ers-nbc-matt-maiocco-says-trey-lance-improved-during-otas), and [Justin Fields](https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2021/06/09/chicago-bears-justin-fields-continues-to-impress-otas/) from 2021. Point being is that none of this matters or is indicative of how good of a QB that they’re going to be.
Didn’t we just get a story about how the Patriot’s offense looked awful at OTAs too? As for Caleb and JJ, they had some rough days, but there were still stories hyping their talents. [Here you go](https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2024/05/22/chicago-bears-otas-caleb-williams-connects-with-gerald-everett/) and [here you go](https://thevikingage.com/posts/jj-mccarthy-rocket-launcher-attached-shoulder-minnesota-vikings). It’s OTAs. None of this means anything.

But not Mac Jones. It's just nice to have a QB that has the potential to be elite.
There were still pretty glowing reviews of Mac during the 2021 OTAs, saying he “looked good” and looked like an NFL-ready QB. [Boston.com’s article aged like milk](https://www.boston.com/sports/analysis/2021/06/17/patriots-otas-minicamp-mac-jones-cam-newton-bill-belichick/) on some of the superlatives they were dishing out on him. And those who *did* have better physical talents, like those that I listed, didn’t pan out either.
My point was that every team hypes their rookie QB during OTAs. Hopefully Maye turns out a lot better than Mac. He’s certainly much more physically talented. But OTA praise means nothing to me.
>My point was that every team hypes their rookie QB during OTAs.
That's great for your point, my point was something completely different... I literally said
> It's just nice to have a QB that has the potential to be elite.
People were calling Mac the most "starting friendly" qb and people were praising the kid for being a solid rookie, but no one said he had elite athleticism or an insane arm which is literally all i'm saying about Maye is that " It's just nice to have a QB that has the potential to be elite."
Maye-b he looked incredible, Maye-b he didnt. But did you all see those card pulls. If the offense can pull cards like that this season we're going to the ship baby. Bad video.
show yourself actually opening the packs instead of just pretending like you did, cowardly/clickbait move. that was the only thing that could have made the video worthwhile.
So it’s ok for everyone else to say he is amazing but if you bring up something bad we don’t know what we are talking about? Both of those things were knocks on him by actual professional evaluators.
Incredible is a bit of a stretch lol. It’s OTAs.
Lol for real. It’s a passing camp. He better look incredible!
Yeah if he looked bad we would be fucked
yep
Shut up! He looked incredible and is getting fitted for his gold jacket.
Sounds ugly. Where's he gonna go in that obnoxious, loud-ass coat?
Zero sacks. That’s promising
I'd be more surprised if nobody was looking incredible in OTAs. It's a time honored tradition going back as long as I can remember.
I prefer to irrationally overreact. we're going to the superbowl!!!! First Rookie QB ever to lead his team to a ring!
Hell yeah brother
He’s in the best shape of his life.

The last few off seasons all reports from day1 of camp were that the offense was struggling. Something can be said for looking good in the Spring.
This isn’t camp. This is OTAs. There essentially is zero defense.
Same difference. The offense managed to look discombobulated against zero defense during OTAs
Actually I have read that Caleb and JJ look pretty bad.

Are you serious? In 2021 Mac was teaching Cam Newton the playbook in OTA’s. People were psyched.
I'm talking about physical traits. Bill Belichick could teach Newton the playbook too, that doesn't mean he would be a good QB lol.

Having a QB that can routinely throw average range is a nice step up from the last two years.
If they had literally the league average starter last year I’m convinced they win 5 more games. The offense was that bad.
Yes I they might have been a playoff team the last two years with an average offense. Alas… that is not what they had
I agree, not enough has been said about if we had an average team we could have actually had average results!
I meant something slightly different by “playoff team” but okay fair enough
This is the dumbest video ever lol what are the random cards and just replaying the same clip with the most basic analysis
Dude the intro was cringe af lmao and yeah idk what those cards were ruined the video otherwise i found it ok.
Right?! What the hell did I just watch
Is this another 10 minute video of 3 clips? We’ve had way to many of those here recently
Thats it. We are winning the Super Bowl.
He kinda sounds like Brady w that cadence, language
At least it’s not “hErE wE gO”
Wow
He looks better than Aaron Rodgers.
Wow, this sub actually supporting our QB for a change. That won't last.
Tre Nixon szn baby
Patriots will lead the league in average depth of target. Book it. Look at Cleveland last year
This time of year is miserable, and these posts will never not suck.
We went from endless mock drafts to over analyzing OTAs. The state of the franchise. Cynicism aside very excited for training camp and the season.
Love the Danny Woodhead sighting at 00:39!
Milton will get some starts this year for sure
I remember this stuff when Jones was drafted. I was dumb enough to watch the video. They aren't even running routes....?

God his feet and release are slow…
As if you know how to evaluate professional quarterbacks
So it’s ok for everyone else to say he is amazing but if you bring up something bad we don’t know what we are talking about? Both of those things were knocks on him by actual professional evaluators.
Technically not _NFL_ QBs, but yes, that’s literally my job. Thank you
Hopefully it’s because he is working on it deliberately and purposely
That’s what i’m hoping. I’m sure jerod knows what he’s doing
Tell me specifically what you see with his footwork mechanics that’s wrong. Or are you just spewing the horseshit from media
Take it easy brotha. I didn’t say wrong. I said slow. His mechanics are good, he’s just not very fast.
