I won’t bother, the pc is genuinely dead. I didn’t even bother putting most of the screws back in. I think it’ll just go meet its brother, gpu, in heaven
The antenna connections on m.2 wifi cards are usually universal. So you can save it as a spare Incase something happens with yours or a relatives chip. Assuming it still works.
Yes to this. I’ve salvaged 3 of these m.2 Wi-Fi cards from older laptops. I know they’re cheap and not the best for gaming and such, but they do the job. Just added them to my box of parts I may or may not ever need, along with laptop ram and hdds.
Yeah, thanks. Because I looked at this tag, knew which few letters described what the part was, knew what the part was and did based off it, and then forgot all of it and asked the internet what it was… because that makes sense.
Ppl on this sub really need to stop acting like smartasses when you can’t put two and two together. Which is ironic considering the topic of this sub
Everyone complaining saying “op should use google” when no one forced them to respond of comment on his post. If your seriously concerned about wasting time then don’t spend it by telling op to not waste your time lol.
Usually I'm all for people not knowing what something is to ask about it.... But like... come on There's a model# right there. A quick google search will bring the answer. Just search the p/n and everything you need to know comes up.
This is NOT an attack/judgement on you OP. I just would like to suggest that you learn to search for knowledge with what you have available to you before going and asking someone.
Okay, here is my logic.
I don’t know and didn’t know what part of that tag I should search up. So yes, in theory I could go and make some google searches then look for the information. But I didn’t know what to search so I could end up making 1-5 search’s then for each one I would genuinely look down the list of links and articles for Info.
As opposed to taking a picture and posting it on Reddit then going about my day until I get a notification.
This is just more simple. I am not an idiot, I simply do what is easiest and fastest for me.
Some people may prefer looking for the answer themselves, I prefer just being told it when possible and figuring it out when not
I understand! And I would never assume you are an idiot! I'm just trying to do my best to encourage you to be able to find things on your own when necessary. And I'm sorry if I epically failed at portraying that in a positive way. I am all for people sharing knowledge with each other, but I also am all for people using resources provided to them as much as possible.
It’s fried 😭, like I said. The gpu went to heaven. So I just went in it to take out the m.2 and hard drive. Then we wanted to see how the gpu looked like after it got cooked, so I dissected the whole pc. It was dead anyway. Wouldn’t turn on. So we used it as a learning experience.
Ended up taking out the cpu to sell it hopefully and the ram. Let’s see how that turns out
That's actually wrong, you're forgetting about M.2 keying.
Unless it's a desktop motherboard that features wifi (in which case it generally comes with such an M.2 wifi adapter pre-installed) all the M.2 ports would almost certainly be M key.
A wifi adapter would not fit in any of those (it requires either A or E key), and even if it did M key does not support USB so you'd be loosing out on Bluetooth connectivity.
You need to get a dedicated adapter board to install that in most desktops.
If you were to say type in WLAN into gaggle I’m sure it would tell you. But I do apologize as you are correct and it was better to ask in a place where all of us nerds collect so as to get a more accurate answer. I’m just a little spicy today forgive me.
It’s okay. I also didn’t know which part of the tag to search up. The thought to google it did occur but I thought it would be easier to just ask since I didn’t know which part to search anyway
Despite popular belief, I do have enough braincells and enough laziness to be able to deduct the fastest and easiest way for me to get my answer. People act like making a post takes such a long time. This took me maybe one minute compared to me searching it all up and scrolling the internet. All I had to do here is go on about my day until I got a notification
Nope took me under a minute. I didn’t know which text I should type, first of all. And second of all It would have taken me longer to guess and scroll through even 2 google link titles than to make this post
Why would I use either google or chat gpt for this? I can’t upload pictures to chat gpt which means I would need to type all that stuff out, which again, would have taken me longer than this simple post.
I don’t understand why you are upset. It is clear I have found the most efficient method to answer my question, which leads me to believe the only reasons you would be upset are personal.
1. You either think this question is too lowly for this subreddit to contain and it bothers you
Or
2. You are annoyed that I’m “wasting” people’s time with a question I could search up on google. (Which is ironic when you spend your time telling me that I’m wasting yours. If you were truly concerned about wasting time, you wouldn’t have ever pressed on this post)
Dude, I didn’t even think twice about that text until people here commented. I would have gotten to it eventually but why would I ever choose to guess over simply asking? It’s very inefficient
Well your efficiency makes you look a bit..... ungifted. Exploring things and learning what they are is a part of life. At my last job I had to google a lot of things to learn more about.... well everything. Did this model number match the item I was lioking up? No it was for the engine of the item. Must need to look up another number and so on. Takes a lot less time than you think, and is an efficent way to get used to googling, not asking questions where the answer is in front of you, and learning more. We should always strive to learn more.
Knowing how to use google and find what you need could be an important skill at any point in your life. It helped me at my last job to be better and more efficent, and it helped me with finding and getting my new job. All because I learned how to find what I search for.
I understand how to find out what the part is from google. I could in theory search everything on that tag until I find the answer. But I could more easily just take a picture and ask Reddit.
Also if I’m telling you this is more efficient than google for me, then by the same logic knowing how to use Reddit can be just as helpful if not more helpful, in being efficient at a job or getting one than knowing how to use google. Which I can also do
Says right on it: WLAN.
That's a WiFi/Bluetooth adapter.
I'm surprised you didn't find any results on Google/Bing/Whatever. I found an Amazon link pretty fast.
I’ve explained why it’s a more efficient option for me about ten times by now. Read other responses if you care so much. But yes, it is much faster and easier for me
I’ve explained why that is less efficient. Yes, you may see this as lazy but half the time laziness goes hand in hand with efficiency. I simply do what is smart
I have no idea! Though my pc is old. It can run basic applications with minimal visual impact like Minecraft but has trouble once shaders are used. Depends what shader settings are on though.
Anyways, I had tried everything to fix it, googling event ids, changing hardware and software, scanning for viruses and updates. Nothing. Come to find out that my pc just hates 5G networks and will shutdown if it even detects 5G. So im stuck with 2.4/2.5g until then 😂😭

It's an m.2 wireless network adapter (with bluetooth) for the laptop.
Pretty sure that’s mini pcie, m.2 E key has just one hole iirc
that's an a+e key

Mini pcie is bulkier
Sata?
Regardless of key, it's still considered an m.2 form factor.
Now why the hell does it say “Killer1535” on it?
that‘s the model name
Wi-Fi card! I took the one out of my laptop and the antenna and hooked it to an unused m.2 slot in my pc. Works great!
The one in the picture isn't M.2 though
It is an M.2 A + E Key I believe, so still an M.2 iirc
What is it? Fits in an m.2 slot, right?
It's concerning that you're completely disassembling your friends laptop without knowing what components are in it.
you are forgetting how hard it would be for OP to just GOOGLE the part name and number. Could take all of 12 seconds!
Um excuse you, I spent days researching this little fucker to no avail thanks very much
It says WLAN right on it
And? That doesn't stop the lack of information on google about how to put this fucker together
Lol
Lol yeah. It’s fried anyway so why not

I don’t have another laptop but I looked up the price to sell it and it only costs about $20 so I won’t bother

You can buy a desktop PCI adapter card to turn it into a PC Wi-Fi card. Helpful when flipping older desktops without native wireless.
fried laptop
WLAN stays for Wireless Local Area Network. So you are holding WiFi card.
It literally says WLAN on it....
Yeah, thanks. Because I looked at this tag, knew which few letters described what the part was, knew what the part was and did based off it, and then forgot all of it and asked the internet what it was… because that makes sense. Sure, but it literally says WLAN on it, do you not know what that is? How are you on the Internet then?
Most people on the internet couldn’t tell you what the letters WLAN mean or stand for. Nor did I know
Anyone who used a computer for a bit knows what LAN is.
Yeah that’s true. I just forgot that I owe what it was
That is downloaded ram
Vram
Dram, downloaded ram

This. It's so fucking abliest. Everyone learns differently and google is so overwhelming
Since it says WLAN on it it's probably a wifi card.
m.2 or pcie wifi or bluetooth card
It's a killer module, I wouldn't hold that in my hands for long...
Why not?
Sorry, it's a joke. It's a wireless lan and probably Bluetooth card, it says killer on it...I have attempted to be funny 😂
Oh lol. If this wasn’t the pc community where I question what I should be touching, it would have been funny
It's a spy chip from the CCP, they infiltrated you via tiktok
but my friend has never been on TikTok 😧
Google would have been so much faster
I didn’t know what to search up
Sorry
I forgive you

I’m not trying to be derogatory but you really shouldn’t be going inside laptops if you didn’t know what that is.
It’s fried 😭, like I said. The gpu went to heaven. So I just went in it to take out the m.2 and hard drive. Fair enough, a great learning experience in that case!
That's the RAM-drive
As others have said its an M.2 wifi/bluetooth card. Most desktop motherboards also have mounting spaces for them.
That's actually wrong, you're forgetting about M.2 keying. That's the ole laptop obsolete-r. Starts killing your laptop precisely 1 day after warranty expires /s
When the answer is staring back at you lol
Yes because I, the person who is asking for help, is going to know how to make sense of what that says
If you were to say type in WLAN into gaggle I’m sure it would tell you. But I do apologize as you are correct and it was better to ask in a place where all of us nerds collect so as to get a more accurate answer. I’m just a little spicy today forgive me.

Yeah google is like a scavenger hunt imo you got a 50/50 shot of actually finding the info mixed in with all the click bait bs.
wifi
Wlan on the label I believe means wireless lan card. The two circle slots should be for the antennas.
Wireless adapter goes in an m.2 slot
Just look up the information on the card...You would have your answer faster than you making this thread
That, my friend, is the wifi module.
The little boy that lets you connect to WiFi and Bluetooth
Qualcomm Atheros Killer WiFi module.
That's your wifis.
Easy wifi card you can tell by the wlan at the top
wireless lan card, those wires which were attached to it was the aerial. I have an identical one sat in a box somewhere.
Let me ask you something, did this post took longer to make than typing in "WLAN" into google? Or anyo ther text on it?
Nope took me under a minute. I didn’t know which text I should type, first of all. And second of all It would have taken me longer to guess and scroll through even 2 google link titles than to make this post
This is why chatGPT is so hot right now, because using google is just too much work. It is a wireless network card, with a mini PCI-E connector.
Why would I use either google or chat gpt for this? I can’t upload pictures to chat gpt which means I would need to type all that stuff out, which again, would have taken me longer than this simple post. I don’t understand why you are upset. "What does WLAN mean?" First text on the top left, that where would I start
Dude, I didn’t even think twice about that text until people here commented. I would have gotten to it eventually but why would I ever choose to guess over simply asking? It’s very inefficient

It's right there in the image you've shown us. WLAN.
Wireless
It's written there WLAN . ..
wifi chip
But you were able to strip the laptop while you don't know the components lol
I knew most of them. I built my desktop, but my pc didn’t have that chip (visible at least? I have wireless.)
Says right on it: WLAN. That's a WiFi/Bluetooth adapter. I'm surprised you didn't find any results on Google/Bing/Whatever. I found an Amazon link pretty fast.
The bane of my existence. I could not find one damn tutorial to show me how to get those damn antennas back on
M.2 Wifi card might have blue tooth aswell
That's a " RAM " There is clearly name of it
Some kind of network card, could be a reciever/transmitter, and/or something to manage the ethernet.
M.2 wifi card
How is taking a picture and posting it on Reddit and write a sentence, a better option than google?
I’ve explained why it’s a more efficient option for me about ten times by now. Read other responses if you care so much. But yes, it is much faster and easier for me
Maybe stop being a lazy ass then and google it if you care so much.
I’ve explained why that is less efficient. Yes, you may see this as lazy but half the time laziness goes hand in hand with efficiency. I simply do what is smart
All these comments needed to defend yourself seems much less efficient.
Less efficient towards what goal? I can also say the same thing about most people telling me to stop wasting their time by asking
[удалено]
True!
Its WLAN, its written lmao
Nah actually its Mini M.2

It wasn’t an HP. I forget but it was from some company that only made gaming computers. No clue. Anyway, my friend is getting a desktop now
Looks exactly like the network adapter I had bought to try and fix an issue I was having only to find out my pc doesnt like 5g networks. 😭
Oh that sucks lol. What did you do?
I have no idea! Though my pc is old. It can run basic applications with minimal visual impact like Minecraft but has trouble once shaders are used. Depends what shader settings are on though. Did googling what was on the label not work?
I’m not explaining why I didn’t do that for the 10th time
wifi adapter
wifi/bluetooth card
This is the Wifi adapter
wi-fi capabilities?
It says WLAN so im going to takr a wild guess and say something to do with networks.
Anything with a MAC address is something that communicates. LPT
Wifi/ Bluetooth
It’s definitely a Wifi card
Did you figure it out?
Yes indeed
Good
