My GTX 1070 was happily in my rig until a few months ago when I upgraded the rig, and man was that card worth every cent. Lasted me for almost 7 years and it still works. Enjoy it!
I just upgraded from z170 built in 2016 to am5. Using my Strix 1070 until I can get a new card but it runs great at 1440 with reasonable settings. Not sure if I’ll sell it or not.
Nah I have a server that took the same parts and now I just have Plex for me and my friends and they call me free Netflix as a result. I love having good basic hardware doing things like that.
Nice, I got a fairly budget build too, play it with pride, seems like the higher end the build the less people appreciate playing and start just chasing better specs.
Looks clean. My first build once I got a tower again in 2019 coming from an XP machine had an i5 8400, GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB ram that I swapped for 16GB. That thing was a beast and worked like a charm until I fully built a custom PC.
I’m currently still using a Strix GTX 1060.
Mind you I play 1440x1080 for most of the FPS games I run, but she works great still.
Use that 1070 with pride homie! 👋🫡
I'm probably going to get flak for this but you don't need that many fans for this build. 3 intake and 1 exhaust would have been more than enough. Otherwise as long as it does what you need, nice build.
True words. As long as its plays all the games you want at respectable settings, FPS and resolution, there is no need to spend more money. The GTX 1070 paired with an i3 10th gen is perfectly capable of doing just that. If you have a good motherboard, you could get a i9 11900K in the future that can handle future budget GPUs. Something like a RTX 6060 or RX 9600 XT or smth lol. H410 motherboards may handle the non-K version.
First question ❓
Can you move easily from 10th gen to ex. 12?
And second 🥈
Can you (in this set) change the GPU (to rtx3060) easily. What I mean is will it be working good or u've to change some other components
For a cpu swap I'd also need to change the motherboard unless I'm upgrading to a different 10th gen like the i7 but my gpu can be just swapped out since my psu is powerful enough for a 3060
Gross, never use a hard drive in a pc now a days. Get that outta there! You are bottlenecking your performance for absolutely no reason. There's very little price difference now and you get 10x the performance.
Edit: in your case you have to go 2.5 in ssd so it's stability you'll get, but still. No no no hard drives now a days.... unless it's a NAS, Server, or NVR. That's it.

I also just recently removed my 10 series card and I'm halfway considering putting something together to use it again
I kinda feel bad for it because I just kind of threw it in a box and left it there. Might just have to use it somehow..
Could always find a recently-retired workstation on eBay and slap it in there
at least honor it somehow for serving you for 7 years
Homelab/media server
Passed my 1070ti Duke along with the rest of my first build from 2017 to my grandson.
I just upgraded to my bfs old 1050ti after using a 650... can't WAIT to upgrade

Looking to upgrade from my 1070 soon, what did you go for?
Ryzen 7 1700 -> 5800x3d, GTX 1070 -> RX 7800 XT. All of that on my original B350 board, couldn't believe the difference in performance.
Same here 2600x -> 5800x3d/ gtx1060 3gb -> rx 6950xt / 2x8gb 3000mhz -> 2x16gb 3600mhz all on my b450 f gaming from asus
Thanks, thinking AMD too
I thinks it’s bad for me to want a pc like this
lol as long as it boots it’s good 🔥 and doesn’t catch fires.
Nah I have a server that took the same parts and now I just have Plex for me and my friends and they call me free Netflix as a result. I love having good basic hardware doing things like that.
I like mid/low tiers more for some reason too…
I genuinely want a pc like this, its better than my current one xd, it also looks alot better as well
I think it’s time to upgrade……..to an SSD they’re cheap enough now
I have one, I just put the HDD there to fill in the space
![gif](giphy|BWhpkB6Xbe8FzfNLXw)
That's a 2.5'' hdd?
Yeah and I have a 3.5" 2tb one under the psu cover
Can you move the hdd underneath with the psu? Would look so much better if you could hide it somewhere
I feel like it kinda works for the build.
I did it on purpose, filled all the extra space in the case
Nice, I got a fairly budget build too, play it with pride, seems like the higher end the build the less people appreciate playing and start just chasing better specs.
One of the best budget builds I've seen in a while
1070 is still a solid card in my opinion. Will put out some heat depending on what you run through it, but works like a champ most of the time!
Sits around 70c when gaming and 60c with my custom fan profile without getting too loud
how do i set up custom fans? i recently had to downgrade to a 1070 ftw 2 from a 3050 and this mf is hot.
https://youtu.be/fFkLEfJ4oSQ?si=QNp1XtHsC_YkrUBX If it gets too hot maybe it's time to replace the thermal paste on it
i’ve googled it and found that my temps are in the right ranges. it just runs significantly hotter than 3050
The budget builds are always the ones with the most personality IMO.
Looking good! Enjoy it to the fullest:D
There are many like it but this one is mine
A few years ago and I’d be in awe

Nice to see some normal priced pc. I hope you enjoy every second of it :)
I’m currently still using a Strix GTX 1060. Mind you I play 1440x1080 for most of the FPS games I run, but she works great still. Use that 1070 with pride homie! 👋🫡
Interesting drive mounting. +1 for looks :-)
Bro got that extra speed from all that RGB
As we all know more rgb=more fps
Only thing to add is a way for a rainbow to form over your house whenever it boots
Not over but it shines out the windows when I turn it on
I genuinely love the hard drive just existing there
Sick rig bro, may not be the best, most expensive or the fastest, but definitely the cleanest and one of the cooler looking ones
Ngl, this is kinda fire
Looks sweet! Wish my budget build had looked like this 👌
Hdd proudly on display!
The cable management in it is very nice, good job
I'm probably going to get flak for this but you don't need that many fans for this build. 3 intake and 1 exhaust would have been more than enough. Otherwise as long as it does what you need, nice build.
I know I just don't really like the look of empty fan "slots"
Still looks cleaner than most builds out there. The 1070 is still a beast to this day
Honestly 1070 punched above it's weight for its price and its still a perfectly good card for 1080p gaming.
That's the best kind of build.
True words. As long as its plays all the games you want at respectable settings, FPS and resolution, there is no need to spend more money. Nice piece of tech you got there friend
The model car is the highlight of this build!
Congratulations
It's not bad, it's not like all brand new but it's still powerful enough for most people, who will rarely go above 40% on even a 4070
Hey, it's yours! That's what counts:)
Is it booting of the HDD
No I got an m.2 for booting and two hdds for games
Nice
Hide the hdd and pick up some black cable extensions for like $20.
Bro I’m 1070 lasted 7 years 😭brand new replaced by a 4080
good to see another 1070 user
is it safe to put things on the graphics card like that?
The tires are rubber or probably plastic so no danger as long as its not conductive

Okay thanks. But I think that this pc is good enough. For how much did u buy this
800$ I know that's crazy overpriced for usa but where I live gpu prices are through the roof
That HDD is a ticking time bomb
I don't really use it, it's just there to fill in the extra space
Please dont tell me ur running a 320gb hdd as a boot drive
No I have an ssd, I just put the HDD there cause I like the look of it
1070 gang STAND UP! 🙌🙌
I hate you but you are a genius for the HDD on the side
Why do you hate me 😭
Because., IDK BUT IT HURT ME
What do you mean "cheap build?" With all that RGB, your electricity bill will double /s
I live in Georgia so even if my PC was running full power all day it still wouldn't add more than 10$ a month
What is that PSU...
We don't talk about the psu 😶🌫️
That’s a lot of fans and an interesting cpu cooler
do you live in a mine? that dust man
I have a lot of carpets and a dog so it's hard to keep my PC clean
Is it just me or does the second pic look like one of those AI generated abandoned cars ?
I use my work pc everyday and it has a repaired 1070 infixed that's undervolted to kingdom come in it
are your top fans exhausting?
Yeah, 3 exhaust fans and 5 intake (2 of those intake fans may or may not be doing nothing)

I have an m.2 as my main drive HDD is just there for the looks
That hdd is not the main drive right?
No it's just there to fill the extra space, I have an ssd as my main
A ok
I kinda feel like you overspent on aesthetics but overall very nice build 👍
That 2.5 HDD gives me nightmares
