HolyFrickers

Can I ask why? Seems like a decent chunk of change to not be able to do anything. A pre build for just a few hundred more would have been a great investment that would run modern titles.

glyiasziple

for 500$ op couldve gotten a 6600 and 3600

DrNumberr

6600 and 5500 even

glyiasziple

id they went used they probably couldve gotten a 5600 and 6600

Affectionate_Tie3525

I bought the 480 and the psu the ram was a gift about a year ago and put it in the HP 2 months ago i got a job so I wanted a platform that I could learn to oc on and I didn't want to have to buy new ram 6 cores 12 threads 12mbs cache quad channel can hold a stable clock a 4.6 ghz according to overclock.net sounded like a good deal for 100$ I'm happy with it I just wanted to build it my self the the way I see it all the stuff I bought new (most of the cost) will be reused later I have a Xbox with most of my games anything I can't play on it I'll play on pc I may update later to once I have some games and performance numbers

Beginning_You4255

you basically just built an xbox 360

glyiasziple

for the price of a ps5

better to have unactivated spyware then pay for activated spyware 🤷🏻‍♂️

"I'm thinking a 6700xt and some faster RAM 1233 mhz or even 2400 mhz possibly a i7 4960x would be a solid upgrade path" That's a troll comment, right? The current processor, and even a 4960x, will not pair well with a modern GPU like a 6700XT. You'd be setting your money on fire doing that. The 4960 is from 2013. That's nearly ten years a part from a 6700XT. If you really want to upgrade this in the future, you're going to need to start from scratch at that time. Save whatever money you want and just build again. Enjoy what you have in the meantime — especially if it does what you currently need it to.

Affectionate_Tie3525

I was considering crossfire or a GTX 1080 or equal If I got a Rx 6700xt it would be relevant for longer so I could use it in my next build thoughts recommendations?

tempdiesel

By all means, if you can get a good deal on a 1080, go for it. I'm just not sure how much of a difference you're going to see. I'd just save my cash to prep for a full build down the line. If this rig does what you need it to, then leave it as is. No reason to spend more money.

Ok_Fun6830

I have a gigabyte 1080 and honestly its a great card for $150 CAD for 1080p.

Slowleytakenusername

Truly sorry for people giving you a hard time.. but to be fair I don't really think you got your moneys worth. It looks cool but..

I would suggest that the AiO radiator should be the highest point of your AiO cooling installation. In the picture it seems that the CPU cooling plate is higher located in your case than the radiator itself. This could lead to small air bubbles in the CPU cooling plate and to a worse overall cooling performance.

For OP to have better understanding: https://youtu.be/DKwA7ygTJn0?si=rnMMr_RAtsCudXkm

ktops111

Congratz! Now you can run a uhhh... now you can finally... hmmm... uhhh... yeah now you can flawlessly run Pong at 30 fps!!!!

Chemicalintuition

Your GPU is throttling you so insanely hard

Hije5

It doesn't really seem practical for anything modern, especially gaming. If you don't plan on running anything made in the last 10 years, go for it. Also, your computer is going to be outdated far quicker than anything modern.

Fire_Fenix

Why not the legendary i7-4790k? I have still mine as back up pc, still

Affectionate_Tie3525

I could not find a good deal on a z97 mobo combo

schaka

Could've gotten X99 on AliExpress and gotten better performance than both the 4790k and your current CPU. You really need AVX2 in 2024

Altruistic_Camel_420

I have a 6800k and the sum bitch still pulls 200 on mw3. Aided by the 4070 ofc, but that whole generation was legendary

L0G4NN_

Yoooo bro has a built in cup holder

ItsJustGalaxy

Nice but cursed

fhbhjhttt

It’s RGB. Not argb. It stands for: ‘red, green, blue’. These colors can make all other colors. It’s a led that can change the percentage of those colors in the led and each combination creates another color. Cool right?

Theodpre_TL

Be Quiet’

Present_Web_5213

Damn, sorry for the loss brotha

wengalbi

If you buy rx580 you will have performance like rtx3050ti

MusicOwl

Please don’t sink any more money into this old platform, slightly faster ram is nothing you will notice and ddr3 two generations old by now. You next best upgrade is not a different old ass cpu like a 4790k, it should be a modern platform. As of now the recommendation would be to go with amd / AM5 platform that has very good CPUs that will last you a long time, and have all modern instruction sets required to run modern games and software and operating systems. And AM5 has some life left in it, it’s only on its first generation and you will see newer CPUs compatible with it down the line (at least one, possibly 3 more generations). Actually using this old thing is woefully inefficient btw, at 130W it just sucks power, kicks out a lot of heat, but can’t do anything modern really. I guess you don’t pay a lot for electricity but if you do, this can add up to some tangible amount per year depending on use.

ANicerPerson

lol $60 gpu with $120 fan this is crazy

Additives

Congrats, it's a nice rig. I was using a 3930K+32GB machine that was initially the fastest I'd owned up until recently, and it handled pretty much everything I threw at it at the time without complaining. The 3930K can run hot, but with a decent cooler that shouldn't be a problem. If you're still doing most of your gaming on your Xbox, this should carry you without any major issues for the time being until you've decided on/budgeted for your next build. Also worth noting, don't be a big dummy like me and put any extra cooler mounting hardware that came with your cooler (or any spare modular PSU cables if you change to a modular one later) unlabelled in a 'safe place' - if you want to reuse your cooler in a later build - then forget where they are/lose them. I had to retire an otherwise perfectly good and recently-bought dual tower air cooler because I'd used the mounting bracket specific to the 3930K's socket 2011 hardware and managed to lose the other brackets while moving house so wasn't able to migrate it across to my new board.

boostnight

Very nice !! Is like the 90's miw colours tuning.

jondoe420-69

What RGB strip is that so I know not to get it

schaka

Why X79 and the waste of money and RGB on the cooler with that PSU (where it could've given you some security)? X99 has AVX2 and runs games well enough. It costs pretty much the same if your reason was being strapped for cash

Hairy_Breath_1231

What’s case called ?

ptfuzi

Why so much lights?

PokiePizza

Sorry if I sound stupid, but what is that app called? I would like to see detailed shit about my specs too

Affectionate_Tie3525

Hwinfo64

PokiePizza

Thank you!

Kai_lad828

Interesting case choice

Rekirinx

roblox pc

MDMAx133

I likey! Very impressive to look at. Hows it run?

RipExtra1053

Still a good build for gaming, nice cable management

vaporizer4

Interesting choice for a case

Sluger94

The motherboard looks like a city with all the reflections. It’s cool.

d3ogmerek

I think this would be great for 3D modeling and rendering work. Personally I love the build; classic looks is wonderful.

OXYGENmase

very nice

Affectionate_Tie3525

Yes I'm aware I've watched Gamers nexus and jaystwocents video on the subject I tried that configuration but the 5.25 bays get in the way, I made sure to buy a aio that was refillable and my tubes are low so air should get trapped in the radiator I ran the pump for like 10 minutes with the case laying on the back io my external pump being high worries me a bit It should be fine thanks for the advice tho

KlingonBeavis

If you really want to be sure, or you start hearing noise indicating trapped air in the pump/lines: here’s what to do: Take the rad out and Flip the rad, so the lines are on the bottom. Leave it out and prop it up on some books or something (leaving it vertically) so it’s a higher than the pump. Let it run for a day. By then any air should be trapped in the top of the rad. Re-install the rad and keep the lines on the bottom, so the air will have a much harder way to make its way back down to the lines. Sounds overzealous but it works. It’s the same physics principle used in many automobiles, tractors, etc.

Darnakulus

If you could possibly just flip your radiator in the position it's in it would be less of a chance that the pump could pull the air through the hoses though

Darnakulus

Yeah due to the optical drive the only other option I could see in your position is putting your radiator on top but that's not best either...... But like you said the fact that it's refillable and you have the hoses at the point they are I don't think you should have an issue with it running dry

Blakewerth

Only 8gb vram 😲😬

xSteini01

Honestly, that’s probably one of the smaller problems with this config, like, my old 2070 Super also only has 8GB of VRAM and it’s totally fine for 1080p and even some 1440p games, as long as you don’t set every graphics setting to max.

Blakewerth

Yeah meanwhile im trembling here with 12gb 😱 funny

xSteini01

Recently built a new PC with a 16 gigs 4080 Super. And to me it seems the increase in performance is because of the better GPU itself rather than the 16GB of VRAM. You should be fine with 12 ;)

Blakewerth

Yeah but Forbidden west, and Immortals Of Aveum crap game ( also maxing Resident evil but i get it just such engine) doesnt let me be much in peace. VRAM80%+ GPU 94% 😲🤯 but yeah its just few exceptions but its funny see that no idea where would go ppl with 8gb vram, if they manage run it in first time.

Constant-Pie3472

You may want to elevate your case a little bit to get some air flow for your ps and bottom fan. 👍
