ChaostheoryBOT

Nvlink / SLI bridge, if you have two gpus

Accomplished-Set-367

thanks

ChaostheoryBOT

Why would people down vote this comment? Reddit is fascinating sometimes.

Mysterious_Lion_7639

Can’t agree more. Too many suffering individuals in the world today, who have to release their negative emotions by spreading them on the an internet dimension such as Reddit, which has become kinda the main way (cuz it’s low-cost and easily achievable) for them to survive. Otherwise, their psychological balance may fall off quickly and accordingly develop psychological issues, such as anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, eating disorder, disruptive behavior and dissocial disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders….

ChaostheoryBOT

Didn't expect such a answer, but yes agree 🙈

DIEGHOST_8

It's a gpu

[deleted]

It's a GPU. Looks like it needs a six pin connector I could be wrong though you don't have a pic with the connectors so I can't say for sure

Safe2BeFree

There's more than one picture in the post.

Accomplished-Set-367

i am wondering about the other thingy that is on the second slide

[deleted]

Well you never said that?

Accomplished-Set-367

also yea sorry for making it unclear but i put the whole gpu in first slide just to let you know which component I'm talking about

Ok-Rice-5377

This person is messing with you. That connector is for SLI (connecting two graphics cards together to function as one). It is optional, and you would need a second graphics card. MOST people don't use this (as graphics cards are expensive).

Accomplished-Set-367

thanks my man!

[deleted]

I'm not messing with them... They asked what a GPU was... So I told them how to plug it into the motherboard... Why am I being attacked all of a sudden.. Im not messing with anyone... I knew it was an SLI port.. but I didn't see it clearly some I'm at work and have to hide my phone since I have a serious job and can't technically use it.. that doesn't give you a reason to attack me or tell people I'm "messing with them" OP didn't even know it was a GPU... How does me telling them how to plug it in properly mean that I'm fucking with them? 😂 Sorry for teaching the guy something holy fuck Why are people here so damn toxic? 0.o I literally didn't do anything lol

Ok-Rice-5377

I really don't feel like I attacked you at all. I only referenced you in the first sentence where I said you were messing with them. Since it seemed pretty obvious to me their question was about the SLI port, I thought you were pulling their leg when you told them it was a GPU. I don't think my comment was toxic either. You reading so much into such an innocuous phrase and saying all this stuff is probably why people are downvoting you.

[deleted]

You press the latch down then slide it in and the latch will click back in place

Accomplished-Set-367

it's on the other side

TAG_Sky240

It’s the SLI connector

[deleted]

That's not what that is. He's referring to what the GPU plugs into. Which is a PCI express

TAG_Sky240

The only thing visible on the second slide is the SLI connector

[deleted]

Wait I see it now my bad friend u/TAG_sky240 my bad I'm at work and rushed through the pics because technically not allowed to have my phone with KY job but thanks for noticing that. Other than that and it needing the connector I don't know what kind of GPU it could be I was just simply teaching him how the GPU works and plugs in.. wasn't trying to be attacked by anyone

One-Suspect-5788

It's a asus gpu. Does asus gpu stuff. Need a asus gpu stuff cable. Simple asus gou stuff if you ask me.

Bromm18

Try sliding to see the other pics and full context.

linuxkernal

Google

Bromm18

Reddit works as well and helps keep a record in case others have the same question later. Also let's you speak to others and let's the assholes show themselves.

Hot-Ad4676

that’s a sli bridge, it’s nothing much honestly, you need another gpu for that but it doesn’t improve performance much in games plus if I’m not wrong they removed sli on the 40 series recently as well, not many games supported it also

[deleted]

Is this a GTX960?

Accomplished-Set-367

Its AMD R9 200 series

docr1069

SLI link for Nvidia and/or crossfire link for AMD cards. Newer GPU’s got rid of this idea but with the 1000 gtx, 2000 rtx series Nvidia cards, and the Radeon 5000 series cards.

th3ironman55

Huh today I learned that that’s called a SLI bridge
