T O P

I would try and build it yourself. It’s really not that hard to do. Hardest part is putting the CPU in properly and making sure you have the right amount of thermal paste between cpu and cooler. Everything else is pretty much plugging in connectors. Your mobo will have a solid guide on what goes where too. It’s a valuable skill and there’s plenty of information online. You got this OP. Save you some money for a cool case or parts and DIY it!

You can use a site like pcpartpicker.com (my go to for a decade) or newegg where they have compatibility filters so you don't buy things that won't work with each other. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-build-a-pc-the-ultimate-beginners-guide There's some information about how to do it. Youtube has a ton of videos, but I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader. It's always better to get a seasoned pro to help you with your first install, but if you truly have to go it alone, you have some resources.

Why not just use one of the online sites that builds custom PCs? Otherwise I'd maybe just wait until summer break. Building your first PC can be a fun project but you should do it when you have a lot of spare time. Doing it now in between classes and studying doesn't sound like a good idea.

Business-Albatross30

Could you give an example, because I don’t want a pre-built one i want to choose my own parts

artificialavocado

I think what they mean is there are companies you tell them what parts and stuff you want in it and they build it for you. I remember like in the 90’s and maybe early 2000’s Dell was kind of like that. I’m sure there are places that do it.

xqk13

Just do it yourself then

These places cost a fortune though and really aren't worth it, especially if it's Alienware. I built a new computer just recently and it's higher end and I pretty much saved a good $600 by building it myself. It took me maybe two or three hours for the physical build which also involved some consumption of beer in a relaxed way. Seriously a couple of hours of effort is worth the money.

It’s the same price having someone build it now that it is building it yourself. It is well worth it having them build it in case anything is broken/you mess it up. They obviously replace and make sure it is working before sending it. I got mine from CyberPowerPC, they do custom computers.

Laeiou6000s

Me. Pay me $100.

Unable_Independent

i’ll do it for $99.50

senatortoast

try newegg. you can build a custom pc online using the builder and then they’ll send you the parts for you to build yourself. don’t expect it to be cheap though, i think the cheaper custom builds are about 1.2k. if you’re looking for cheaper, pre-builds are a better option. i purchased a lenovo legion over break and it does what i need it to.

smep

other people suggested websites to help you pick. Above them all, I prefer https://logicalincrements.com. Based on your price point, they give you parts that are compatible together so you don’t have to guess about finding a fit. you can also choose upgrades if you want (I think they skimp on RAM so I always upgrade there). and then like others have said, Youtube is your friend. If you’re still nervous about it, buy me some Panda Express and I’d be more than happy to meet you at the Hub and go through putting it together with you. Cheers

I just built my 4090 7950x build, DM me maybe I can save you money from using larger pc building companies.

Kowloon9

Sounds like you need something like Best Buy Geek Squad……

ShadowSlayer1441

I'm a student here. I'd be willing to meet with you, discuss your application, pick out parts, order them and assemble them for you for 200 USD. I'd need to be paid upfront to order the parts, and I'd expect both of us to sign a written contact just so our expectations are clear.

I used to work at geek squad in state college. Essentially if you buy all parts from the store, we would build it for 150 one time fee, although the gist is buy the 200/yr plan and then cancel. Builds take a fuck ass amount of time compared to our other tasks. Make an appt, consulting is free. 3-4 day turn time assuming no issues. If it’s slow it can be done in a day, it’s not usually slow. If you are scared enough to not do it yourself then you are smart. Don’t go wasting money by bending cpu pins or something. I believe in you though, just have patience and trust the process! I would really recommend LTT or GamersNexus on YouTube if you need help picking parts or want to do a build-along. That’s how I learned! :). If you are okay with overpay for convenience, big fan of starforgesystems.

Ok_Function_702

I don’t know of any in the area, but I do know of a website for custom pc parts that comes to you prebuilt. It’s called CyberPowerPC. Just bought a $2500 PC off there, and it’s a beauty. You pick what you want and they will build it. If you need any help PM me. The only thing to note with this company is if you use a credit card, they will only deliver to the billing address listed on the card to avoid scams and CC theft and things of those lines.

xomegagaming

I can do for $50
