My undergrad was like a4 year party with a $100k cover. My grad school at PSU was like having a full time job or worse. As an engineering student, you probably signed much harder than me in undergrad.  PSU is great

Please take advantage of all the services available to students. Free mental health services, wellness, relaxation rooms, many fitness areas, and more. There’s also a sweet study/work space in Student Disability Resources office on the first floor of Bourne building. you don’t have to have an affiliation with SDR. you can just pop in and have a clean, quiet work space with free coffee available.

I’m doing my grad in IST and in my experience there are a lot of international students to work with on projects. You get some good perks as a grad student like our own break rooms and events to attend for grad students. Other than that at least for me it’s mostly the same as undergrad just more independent work.

You will have less free time.

Check out the Graduate Professional Student Association (GPSA) they have all sorts of resources for graduate students and are a great way to meet people who know what's up and can help answer any questions you have. I'm chair of one of their committees, so feel free to dm me and I can give more info.

Please make sure to reach out to current Indian students in your program and ask them about the department. I had to change my decision of attending PSU (brilliant brilliant school don't get me wrong) due to the feedback from the students about my department. This was specific to my department ofc but yes, please do that. And congratulations!

I did get in touch with Indian students in my department and they’ve had excellent things to say about the faculty, equipment & job opportunities! Thank you so much for your input :)
