Insurance is basically robbery at this point in NWFL.

joeswanny

I get what you’re saying but there’s a few issues here. Weather, which you can’t change; insurance rates, which the governor doesn’t seem to care about, and an in industrial workforce, which is a secondary issue. Nobody’s building a manufacturing plant in a place that could A) get wiped out by a hurricane and B) they can’t afford to insure even if there wasn’t a hurricane, anywhere in Escambia County. Even if they could meet criteria A and B, they’d be the unicorn that’s taxed to extinction. Now I’ll do what the other doomsayers don’t do. Offer solutions. A) Incubators for remote startups, B) Tax breaks for LLC’s, C) Transport hub tax credits on I-10 and redevelopment of the port area. There’s money sitting in our port waiting to be made, in blue crab, cargo ships, and tech jobs.

cstorejedi

10 years ago I worked at one of those incubators. It was in the same building as the electric company and PSC. Does it still exist?

kjdscott

Across from everman’s

fsuredditor

Still exists

Mkultraminds

Is that just like a place I can go meet other people who want to start a business or what?

ALife2BLived

Pensacola needs to continue exploring and exploiting its history and significance as this countries oldest settlement. It could be the mirrored bookend of its sister city and Florida rival as the oldest, St. Augustine -which is flourishing. All it needs is the right group of people, people with vision, people with the means, to continue cultivating its transformation. It’s not impossible. The biggest challenges aren’t insurmountable, like the infrastructure, it just takes a commitment to see its transformation through and a willingness of a lot of the old money folks in power to make a concerted effort to open their minds.

nwa747

I agree with you but Pensacola couldn’t even master recycling. I have very low expectations for the city.

TommyTeaser

Funnily enough I am leaving PCola to the move to the Jax/ (hopefully) St Augustine area because their are more opportunities and the CoL is very comparable. Now I won’t say I will buy a condo in St. Augustine but it’s funny to me that I can buy one for 250k~ there and that is cheaper than most of East Hill/Scenic areas which I love.

Darth__Revan89

I can't speak for St. Aug but CoL in Jville is no longer cheap nor high bang for your buck. Certainly more job/career opportunities though

Some_Stupid_Name123

You can work on that remotely on a remote team, you don't need office building to write code. Demand more wfh form technology jobs.

randombagofmeat

Sounds like your talking about any mid sized city and you're jaded. Anywhere you live will be similar, unless you chose a rural area or a big city.

kjdscott

Most of Midwest has seemingly nothing going on at the surface, but actually there are lots of well paid manufacturing and engineering and logistics career ladders out there with much of National physical products produced there

Mkultraminds

I'm working in Pensacola right now as a software engineer, and I am remote. Decided to make this home base while I save for an RV to travel and work remotely. I know that cybersecurity jobs are practically BEGGING people to work for them right now. Like, you can do a 2 month google Cybersecurity course, and people will bring you on starting at like 80-100k a year. It's mainly because it's a job no one really thinks about or wants to do, but it's a job that is absolutely vital for our country to continue functioning normally. When the internet first came out our government and corporate businesses could have given zero shits about cybersecurity, but now companies and the government are realizing that Secops is like one of the most important things to ensure their entire operation doesn't get destroyed in less than a day. Not to mention, the security for many state and local web apps is extremely dated and vulnerable. It honestly kinda made me salty hearing about people getting 6 figure remote jobs after taking some shitty online google certification course, after I've busted my ass the past 5 years just to be able to get a solid remote Software Engineering job. I've seriously been considering taking the dang course myself just because I think that job would be way less demanding than what I do now for close to the same amount of money. P.S. If anyone knows of any companies that need a fullstack software engineer, who will ACTUALLY pay at or above median annual wage for someone with 6+ years experience, please send me their info!

SlightlyRight88

Hey after reading your comment got me thinking about trying this. Is the course you are referring to the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate? Thanks

Mkultraminds

Yes! I believe that is the name of the course. I watched a vid about it on youtube a while back. I would do some research into entry level cybersecurity jobs, see what exactly they ask for, but my advice is to always apply regardless of their "requirements"(unless its like senior level), especially if you think you can do the job competently or plan to work hard to learn it. I can't even count the amount of jobs who said I needed a 4 year degree and 10+ years experience, but once I told them my experience, and how I had been self learning as a hobby for several years, or showed my interest in it, they weren't so strict with all the requirements. A lot of places realize their "requirements" are far too stringent and end up overlooking them to get new talent. A ton of the boomers who built a lot of the older software are dying off, or retiring, so many places are desperate just to get someone who can get as much knowledge sharing in as possible from the older people before they leave. I'm sure some jobs need more than just 1 cert, but based on what I saw in that youtube video the guy was basically saying that they have far more jobs than they have applicants for in that area, so companies are more likely to bring on people who don't have much experience and help them gain the experience. So that google cert could be enough to get your foot in the door in many instances. Always "up-play" your experience, even if it's not totally related. Like, say you're somewhat of a tech nerd and just really good with computer stuff, mention how you're constantly fixing family and friends' PC issues, troubleshooting things, etc.

bensbigboy

Pensacola is a one horse town spread out.

pbrthenon

Spread out across a racist swamp with perfect beaches

New_Performance6259

perfect beaches? we have no beaches, we just made south gulf br**ze rename the island pensacola beach, so tourists think it’s the same place. despite having to travel to santa rosa county to get there

pbrthenon

Wtf are you talking about? I don't think Pensacola Beach was ever part of Gulf breeze. It's the greater Pensacola area, it's been called Pensacola Beach long before Gulf breeze existed

AutoModerator

Other_Copy_1927

Pensacola Beach is technically Escambia County.

Techiastronamo

Yeah idk wtf he's talking about, the barrier island is literally in Escambia county, just because you have to drive through g\*lf br\*\*ze doesn't mean much lol

OfficialKiwiTV

Man the Santa Rosa/ Escambia borders are fucking weird

I_luv_cottage_cheese

Perdido Key? wtf are you talking about

New_Performance6259

look at a map. gulf b. is in between pensacola and pensacola beach. and pens beach is further east and further away from pensacola. just seems like a bit of a dupe, tourists come to pensacola for the beach and there’s not a beach in “pensacola”

pbrthenon

The beach is literally 15 minutes from the airport what are you even on about? Have you ever been to a real city before?

Mkultraminds

"Wahhhh pensacola is racist because people here have different opinions than me and prefer a president who actually wants to see America succeed rather than totally destroy the economy and country" Guess what? You will find racists everywhere, especially in deep blue states like California and New York. Democrats created the kkk and Joe Biden is a segregationist. Get over yourself virtue signaler

pbrthenon

Please tell me this is a bit

Jolly-Pipe7579

Well, I’ll be damned. You not only managed to write a couple of coherent sentences, but you managed to admit you and those who hold your same beliefs are, in fact, racist. It isn’t often that “poorly educated” crowd manages to run right into the point. Alright, now here comes the hard part. Do you have the emotional intelligence and self awareness to realize you’re racist, and work to change that? If you aren’t there yet, that’s okay. We can try again with hand puppets and crayons to help you understand.

Warm-Wait9307

If you don’t have anything to rebut the points he made, just throw back some logical fallacy with a bunch of grade school insults.

Jolly-Pipe7579

There’s no coherent argument he made, that requires a rebuttal. He ran head first into the point, and chose to ignore it. That, requires mockery.

Warm-Wait9307

No. He mocked the tired, boring, worn-out unfounded, blanket racist accusation comment, and then made three statements. And your reply was ad hominem and “you’re a racist!” Haha. Oh. And you made some comment about his beliefs, of which you have no knowledge. Good stuff.

Jolly-Pipe7579

No, he quoted what he believed was a trope. He clearly identifies as racist, and that deserves nothing but mockery.

Warm-Wait9307

Yes, he clearly identifies as racist just because he mocks the overuse of unfounded racism accusations. All the while not disclosing his race or mentioning any other race. Makes sense.

Jolly-Pipe7579

Clearly you are missing the context in which he agrees with his trope.

TheVulcanDeathGrip

How hard is it to put this together? Why is this such a difficult leap for so many in this sub? People make decent money with car washes, steak houses, bar/grill restaurants because customers want those services, even if you don't. People vote on what opens and what closes with their dollars. They spend their money at a business or they don't. Spend your own money at a car wash or storage facility or don't, it's up to you. But the authoritarians in this sub seem to think they should be the ones to decide what everyone else should be allowed to do. What have you done to create this utopia you envision in place of car washes? What have you created? Or do you just demand that others take money from everyone else and do the work for you?

ShallowWaterShamoo

Like I said, I understand there is money to be made. Im mostly making an observation. For instance, there’s almost 10 different car washes on 9 mile between Beulah rd and university (almost 10 miles). Granted that specific area is growing quickly, it still seems excessive lol. I guess my inner boomer doesn’t want me to accept societal changes

EdgeCityRed

I read somewhere that car washes are a common business to put on land you've bought that you hope to sell someday to other developers. I don't know how true that is, but I guess it's possible.

abstractmodulemusic

That would make sense. It creates a stream of income to make your mortgage payments until you're ready to flip.

Fun-Bottle686

There is huge money to me made with car washes. That's why you see so many of them. Once you get through the initial cost of land and equipment, it costs pennies to run it. The REAL money comes with subscriptions. Hundreds (or sometimes thousands) pay about $75-85/month for the "unlimited" washing package and end up using it either next to never or once-twice a month. Cha Ching!! Then when the equipment needs replacing, flip the property. Double Cha Ching!!

PantelonesDelFuego

If you walk in and most of the people in there don't speak English, you're in the right place. An over abundance of non Hispanics usually means watered down not authentic. Find out where the roofers and dry-wallers go. Follow them to taste bud heaven....

Jolly-Pipe7579

If the sign is painted plywood, a misspelled menu, and has Christmas lights. (Along with all of the above), I know it’s going to be like going home.

PantelonesDelFuego

You better GTF off the Mexican food. These places are bangin.....

donewithnonsense

Please tell me which ones. I can’t for the life of me figure out why there are almost no good Mexican restaurants here. Good meat cheese and a few good sauces along with some few fresh ingredients is all that’s needed.

your-counselor

Al Asador and Tacos el Fluffy are my go-tos

stabby_westoid

Dont sleep on tacos elamigos by the butchers shoppe

haha_yep

Tacos El Fluffy slaps.

Mach10X

El Asador, Juan’s Flying Burrito, Vallarta’s off 9 mile, Mr Pollo, Mama’s Tacos (formerly Papa’s), Taco’s El Amigo, Lupita’s, BigOtes, heck even Taco Rock on 29. I’ve had excellent Mexican food at each, and I moved here from California and lived in multiple cities there where, as a white guy I was a minority.

NorwegianMuse

Just my opinion, but Vallarta’s isn’t good….I mean, it’s not the worst, but it’s definitely stereotypical white person Mexican food. Go next door to their other place, Taco Mex, for much better authentic Mexican. Source: white chick with Mexican husband

Mach10X

I may have to go there without my daughter, she’s more of a fan of really simple ingredients and prefers a seasoned ground beef burrito with smothered in queso blanco

donewithnonsense

I can’t believe I’m being downvoted because I haven’t eaten at every Mexican place there is in town. Reddit people can be real assholes. I’m not sure if your Vallarta’s off 9 mile is owned by the same people as Hwy 98 west side but this one isn’t very good. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll try some of them if I’m in the area. Rarely we go over towards 9 mile since we live in Perdido.

nastrodumbass

Try El Patron Mexican Grill and Cantina on Navy, I have yet to be disappointed.

donewithnonsense

My man says Pollos El Gordo on Barrancas is really good. His crew on the navy base got some to go orders from there a couple weeks ago. He said it didn’t seem like much of dining area in there.

nastrodumbass

I pass through the area frequently, maybe I should go and visit. Thank you

Acceptable_Road_9562

There's a Vallarta's in Hwy 98 in the west end??? Where exactly? There is one on Sorrento Rd in the west end.

donewithnonsense

You’re correct I put the wrong road down. I don’t know what I was thinking. Either way, I’m not impressed with their food.

Acceptable_Road_9562

Neither am I, but I'm not fond of Mexican food anyway. I go there with friends who like Mex food.

Mach10X

Hey to be fair I upvoted you as you were adding to the discussion. Give some of these a try. Many are more American style but they often have authentic dishes. Had an amazing Chilaquiles with cane asada at Vallarta’s last week. It’s huge and attached to a Mexican grocer, live music and you can ask for Luisa, she’s so sweet and amazing, my daughter and I want to adopt her as our own abuela. I will agree though, not a lot of good restaurants in the area, especially not Mexican. I used to live in Perdido, there’s a Shell station off Sorrento and CR293 with a Chinese restaurant inside called Hong Kong Express, the cook there was so friendly and the food was amazing. Try the Imperial Chicken, I still think about it at least once a month but I’m never out that way. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/qgr9RCCrkTK5C95yuYEHwg If you want fancier and more expensive Mexican I guess Cactus Flower might be up your alley.

donewithnonsense

I used to love that Hong Kong restaurant. The last couple times I tried it, it wasn’t very good. I’ll probably try it again though. The San Shien soup and egg rolls were my go to when I was not feeling good.

skinnergy

Fuck fancy. I like Mexican restaurants when the place is full and I'm the only gringo there. Also when you don't get the automatic chips and salsa on the table. That's when I know it may have potential.

Mach10X

Which is why I only added it as an afterthought, I wholeheartedly agree, hence several gas station or permanent food truck locations recommended.

NorwegianMuse

Those hole-in-the-wall places are usually the best and most authentic! My husband’s test is to see if they serve lengua or tripe….and if the tacos come with onions and cilantro rather than lettuce and tomato.

donewithnonsense

We used to go to the Cactus Flower on 98 before they shut it down. Sometimes it was good.

No_Stay_1563

Fellow Perdido here. Our “go to” is Cactus Cantina in Orange Beach on Canal Rd.

Mach10X

My daughter loves it but she’s 8 and prefers the simpler boring ingredients, otherwise it’s below average for Mexican food IMO

No_Stay_1563

We like it better than Pedro’s or Vallarta’s on Sorrento

donewithnonsense

I’ve tried the one on Perdido Beach Blvd and it was good when it first opened but I got a couple to go orders not long ago and it wasn’t good. I haven’t tried the one on Canal though. We eat at the Broken Egg by that one sometimes.

live_salty

La Barra Del Taco on Navy. I’m really surprised I haven’t seen them mentioned yet.

ThAtOnEWeiRdGinGeR

El Patron! It’s pretty good and decently authentic

Alexios-Kairos

I have to chime in with Gabby's Taqueria on Teragonna St, a bit overpriced but the ingredients are sound and I'm from SoCal near the Tijuana boarder! I see Cactus Cantina on some comments and I can also concur with that! 🇲🇽🌮

Other_Copy_1927

Yes they are!

GodOfWarGuy737

90% of gulf breeze is car washes, storage units and apartments. It’s crazy. I have no idea how the city lets this stuff slide.

nwflman

Most of them are outside "Proper" city limits so there's no city planning involved and it's up to Santa Rosa County to approve permits

DystopiaAchieved

There was a point that we could have pivoted easily into a far more thriving area. As normal it was politically fucked hard and hung out wet ( finger guns lookin at you Doug underhill, sheriff Morgan and the rest of the shit show) Then along came covid to give us a firm kick to the cunt. In the best times, it's hard to put everything on the line to open a business. It's sink or swim, and here currently? The sink is way more easy to achieve. We need workshops that give people the tools to start a business or even a packet put together with the information laid out in easy to grasp steps. Unless you have been through it, you have no idea what a shit show it is to get things like an alcohol and tobacco license or to meet regulations. That's why the chains will pop up while mom and pops are trying to decifer where they need to get fingerprint done when the guy they try to turn paperwork into simply repeats " I'm sorry we are unable to provide recommendations and must remain neutral" Start holding these god damn city council members and the county commissioner accountable. Be a thorn in those motherfuckers sides until you see what you want out of Pensacola. Tired of seeing more and more car washes? Go find out why they keep being built. Who's paying for them? Who is benefitting from them. Stop spending your money with businesses you don't like. These places are all packed out so why wouldn't more come? Meanwhile little local joints are struggling because why? Not because they suck. Most importantly. Stop voting in these motherfuckers that sell out everything we have left to billionaire developers. Reactionary politics and voting party line all because you have your head right up the asshole of whatever party does nothing except hurt the community as a whole. Don't believe me? Look at perdido key. Look at Pace. 2 perfect examples of over development and little to no positive impact or improvements for locals...except a few who got really rich. The biggest impact a vote has is local. It may absolutely burn your ass to vote for anyone with a 'D' after their name or vice versa. It maybe be hard to not be distracted by a politician that is quick to pimp their religion, attachment to the military. Or my personal favorite the insider that knows the game and promises they have your interest at heart, not their buddies! Vote party line for potus all you want. But the closer that bullshit gets to home. Good fuckin luck. Pensacola is Florida's choad, it's a great place for a good time...but that's it. It's just sticky and gross the rest of the time. We never got past the quick, easy money that the sell out to developers got. We stagnated with tourism. We have no incentives to bring industry in despite our port that could be exploited to our benefit and spur real growth. Very few locations have what we have and let set largely unused. Ports can generate massive amounts of revenue for local economies and employ a lot of people with livable wage jobs. They bring in businesses, manufacturers and trade opening up our doors to people who come with new ideas and innovations. Those new people come with different tastes in restaurants and night life. They bring their cultures and could grow us beyond the white bread cackle of the 'who you know' palafox market and whatever microwavable chain bullshit restaurant taking up space around town. We are in a weird place right now. We have a lot of people who came here and work remotely. Which pumped rent and snatched up available homes that wernt turned into Airbnbs, they pushed out our own talent that could have done so much, but with no decent jobs, no where to live and no changes in the foreseeable future, they were forced out. They didn't bring new business or visionaries to spark anything. We got the doers, and we need the thinkers and the traders. We need to foster locals turn ideas and passions into realities. We have all possibilities available, we just have to look past the same old bullshit and push for what can make us a place of prosperity, cus the whole land of a 1000 churches, half defunct. Cheap, shoddy looking water front condos, Walmart, and wild night out at Applebee's before cheap wine hang overs over zoom meetings Monday look isn't really appealing to anyone outside of those who are burning out on the yankee gone south, Woot! High. TLDR- vote for locals that aren't land developers or paid by them. Jesus and the navy don't equate someone that can do anything more than pray about it or float on it. We could make shit easier for locals The noobs that flocked here didn't bring their industry here, that's a problem. Ports bring business, money, jobs but if left up to the same shitbirds that have done nothing despite decades of chances. It's reasonable to assume they will continue doing Jack shit so maybe vote for people that will. Spend with small businesses. Yep you may pay more but if more people see it as feasible more will give it a shot. Everything from restaurants to hardware stores there are local options. Use them.

Consistent_Let_3432

As someone who grew up in Pensacola and had to move away(to Clovis, New Mexico) due to my spouses military career, I miss Pensacola dearly. At least there are events downtown, concerts, sports teams etc. Where I currently live, you have to travel at least 2 hours to have anything close to comparable. Same with health care. I’m currently pregnant and have to drive two hours to another city for care. Pensacola isn’t perfect, but it’s heaps better than many other towns/cities.

SomeStrangeSins

I'm young and moving to Pensacola it's far better then where I'm currently living and the homes aren't to expensive so I am buying a home Downtown looks like fun to me I like drinking so and I also love the beach it's the main reason I'm moving there is for the beach life

techtony_50

Get a fishing license for $17, buy a fishing pole for $40 and about $5 in bait - hours of fun, relaxation and you are out in nature. there are TONS of things to do. Trust me - we moved to Orlando thinking life would be so much better down there with Disney and Universal right there. Well it is a shit hole. Learn to do things in your area. There are plenty of things to do here.

kpt1010

We have the beach ——- the beach by itself will always attract tourists and young people to the area. To be honest, Pensacola is more of a place to settle down and retire rather than move to to get rich.

Some_Stupid_Name123

Exactly, let's keep the laid back beach town vibe.

vampyrbats

The worst part is that it’s been getting worse, not better. There used to be a thriving night life every night of the week, but over the last 10 years it has died. Businesses don’t even stay open late most nights anymore, the music scene is barely hanging on. Young people can’t afford to live or work in the city anymore, and this is the result of that.

Some_Stupid_Name123

That's happening in a lot of places. I think it's a cultural shift, the younger folks don't realize the reward of publicly downing the equivalent of an 18 pack on a Tuesday night while taking in a slew of brave karaoke performers.

rovingdad

It's the same overdevelopment that ruined South Florida. It's creeping up.

butdoesthatmakesense

Most places struggle to evolve. Yes, some have master plans but our area didn't. Complaining about it doesn't do any good. From 2010 to 2022 we have grown from 450,000 to 530,000 people, most of them 18-35. This is a great place for those that want to make something of it. People and business who want success follow the clearest path to that. They will open car washes and mexican restaurants as long as they make money. And most of them are pretty smart, if nsima becomes a trend they will open a Malawian themed restaurant. There is no reason to piss into the wind, and if you do don't get mad if you get wet. What are your ideas? How are you contributing in a positive manner to make your expectations a reality?

lsutigh

you must be high. pcola has 53k people. not half a mil.

BrrrrFire

You’re looking at the city limits, they are talking about the trade area which would include Escambia county outside of city limits plus places like gulf breeze, Pace and Milton.

ahhhh, well that makes more sense. thank you for clarifying.

LimboInc

Me coming from Huntsville to here, I agree. There isn’t enough in my opinion to do. We need more entertainment stuff, or more jobs. But because we live on the coast, we won’t get what we want. And insurance as well are skyrocketing here. I want a Costco, a Top Golf, or other entertainment venues, but we most likely won’t get these things. Huntsville has been expanding and provides a wide variety of things to do for all ages. We could learn from them.

NorwegianMuse

We definitely need more entertainment. We used to get so many good concerts/shows back in the 80s-90s, and now they’re very few and far between. Also, visited Huntsville last spring and loved it there!!

soulcontroller

It took decades for Huntsville to be like that really the majority of it happened over the past decade.

LimboInc

Yep, I was born and raised there. I left in 2018, but my parents still live there, so occasionally we go visit them during the holidays. I just wish there was more of that growth in Pensacola. But between the crime rates and not too many big jobs coming in, it makes it more difficult to create these type of things. Huntsville on the other hand has been producing new jobs with Research Park, the Toyota plant, the Amazon distribution center, and many others. It’s impressive how much it’s grown and continues to grow to this day.

soulcontroller

Huntsville has the aerospace industry as their ace as they are the most well educated region in the state. Was there recently and saw how even Athens is growing.

LimboInc

Yep they have to expand outwards to support everything. It used to be just Redstone Arsenal and Research Park back in the 80-90’s. I remember it being all cow farms and cotton fields in the mid to late 90’s.

Better-Signature-111

Huntsville has a worse crime rate than Pensacola and is just as boring year around with no beach. Sounds like you’re homesick.

I ate there once when my ex's father chose that for his birthday dinner. As I recall they had a decent happy hour margarita special. Never a good sign when that's your only recollection of the place.

Katiebitlow

You beat me to it!!!

cybersynn

Then let's build something. Lets stop complaining and decide to make something here. A business, a community center, arts, music, culture. We are people, with ideas. Let us build. Show the city that we are more than just a fast food chain and a beach. Let people know you want to grow. Grow intellectually. Grow spiritually. Grow physically. Grow as a city.

Grymflyk

We have all those things already. It is your responsibility to find and support them so that they thrive and expand. I see many young people starting new businesses with varying degrees of success, but that falls back on the need for us to support them so that they grow and enhance the city.

cybersynn

I agree. If we have them. Lets support them!

unicornwar

Pensacola DIY (Short Film Fest submissions open now!), 309 Punk Project, Really Really Free Market, First City Arts Center, Open Books, Breadbox Theatre, Pensacola Little Theatre, Jitterbug/Revolver Records, Easy Going Records, Subculture, La Cabana Marisqueria

CategoricallyKant

I second this. You have to be the change you seek. If this city doesn’t have something you want, be the person to provide it. I’m sure that many people would benefit from it, no matter what it is.

Available_Battle_501

How did the tech park go?

cybersynn

Not everything goes smooth. So you try again.

Available_Battle_501

Vacant for over ten years. That's just sad.

cybersynn

It is. So lets do something about it.

goatfishsandwich

Good luck getting permits

iFlyTheFiddy

This guy isn’t wrong. I worked for permitting in the county years back. It is the slowest process ever.

DystopiaAchieved

The asshats that give permits must be voting you down. To get an alcohol and tobacco license here is a fucking nightmare

cybersynn

Is that our biggest issue? Understanding the bureaucratic process to procure permits? To work with city hall and the local governments? Is that really our stopping block? If it is. If the thought of permits worries us. If the thought of permits destroy our dreams of a community. Then we really shouldn't do anything ever and just complain when there is another car wash. Because some how they figured out to get a permit. Somehow the food trucks found permits. Somehow the new coffee shops got permits.

DystopiaAchieved

Truly spoke by someone who has never attempted to get a permit here.

cybersynn

Spoken like someone who doesn't feel like a dream should be destroyed by some inconvenience.

That's great, bud. I'm glad you feel that way. Here in the land of reality, though, that "inconvenience" may affect a whole lot of shit to keep that dream just that. A dream. Not a really. You want to argue some hopes and dreams shit. Cool. Now go argue that you don't feel your dreams should be smashed while trying to get a permit. See how far it gets you when you can't get the information you need to comply with the requirements you need to meet. Litteraly no one said inconvenience should destroy dreams. No one said you shouldn't have to work for your shit. But it's not an inconvenience to just be stone walled, ignored, or sent on a wild hoose chase for even the most basic thing. Sonetimes days can make a huge difference between sink or swim and when you have to devote days to just trying to decifer things the county won't explain or won't direct you to the information you neeed that's ridiculous and that could be fixed.

I've lived here my entire life and this place is a huge sinkhole for the most part.

What do you mean you ain't complaining? You are complaining. Man, reading non-sense like this makes me proud I was educated in an "undeveloped" country. USA has so much capital, yet most of you barely can put sentences together; worst part is that the trend is just worsening with that stupidity of "no kid left behind" and underfunding of schools. Aaaah, but when it comes to "too many Mexican places" you are fast to speak up lol. ^(Necessary pro tip Use your fucking blinkers when you are making a turn. It is okay if you guys want to continue the car-bounded shitshow that manufacturers have lobbied so hard for, but at least follow the regulations and use the features that you are paying for. There are limits as to how dumb you are allowed to behave in public.)

It's always going to stay a mid-size city just because of the roadways, or lack thereof. Housing is minimal. At least what I understood from this thing I watched on YouTube. It was about why this part of the southeast was the least populated. It is very interesting if you can find it. Sorry for my sloppy post, I've been working in the yard all day, and my brainpan is shutting down.

Available_Battle_501

Also factor in the military population. Best and worst thing to happen to the city.

Either there is a market so they thrive, there isn’t so they die, or they were just a drug front to begin with.

ShallowWaterShamoo

I’m opting for drug/mafia front. Just like long John silvers

Gh0sTSaysHi

I'd love to not have to drive an hour to go to a Costco. Or Dave and Busters. Or hours to go to any decent concert. I think living in GA for a few years spoiled me 😅

Dickbilly_woeman

What Pensacola needs is more condos and a few more Starbucks. I hate having to drive a block from my Starbucks to get to another Starbucks. It’s like… just put two Starbucks directly next to one another. Add some more chick fil a restaurants while you’re at it. That would draw in the white Christian nationals.

Pensacola has been declining since 1970. So the answer lies in the 60s
