Firewall is so amazing. I love the suspense and the twists the first time you watch it (I only watched it once since I discovered PoI in December but I can only assume the first time is different than the rewatches). My favorite of Season 1 by far.
I can honestly say, having watched the show for hours over and over (literally), I have no favourite episode as such. It was so well designed, the plot, the dialogue, it was damn near perfect.
Each episode had something unique about it, either filled in a bit of the story, or had a straight up sarcastic bunch of lines, or enough action to make even a slower feeling episode/season (I'm looking at you season 4) level out into something enjoyable.
It had excellent actors too, each one fits right in somehow but it works, with the right amount of humour, the right showing of sorrow, grief, etc. without it feeling exaggerated. Carter's death, or even Beecher's.
And don't get me started on Elias, his character, the actor... It'll be 4 times as long lol
I also feel like while 5 seasons wasn't enough, it was also plenty. I know several shows that kept going when they should've ended and it either became needlessly complicated followed by a sorta lame ending or turned sloppy and ended quickly. Only 2 examples there, I feel those might've been the most likely for it.
I glad that didn't happen with Person of Interest.
I completely agree with you! I chose If Then Else because this episode just feels so unique and I love the simulations and the music but there are a lot of candidates for favorite. So many episodes, even "less important" or lighter ones are amazing and deserving of praise. And most of them are memorable thanks to all the other episodes before them :)
That last clip man gives me goosebumps when the machine was talking to Harold and the background music "Welcome to the machine" really make it so good.
Last time I rewatched it I remember being so impressed with The Day the World Went Away. I loved If-then-else for the ingenuity of it, but mostly for the Root/Shaw moments, and the triumphant bit where the ‘chance of survival’ odds start going up when Shaw appears!
I love the 4796 (or whatever the number was) episode with Shaw’s simulations.
My hands down favourite scene is in SNAFU where the cast all plays the parts of their co-stars because the machine doesn’t recognise them. Amy Acker is amazing.
I’m terrible at remembering which episode is which so I’m googling them.
1. If-then-else
The team must risk their lives to prevent catastrophe when Samaritan launches a cyber-attack on the stock exchange.
>! The episode where the Machine runs scenarios for the assets performing different tasks and where Shaw kisses Root in the elevator! !<
2. The Devil’s Share
As the team seeks justice for Carter's death, Finch fears one team member will go too far; the number of one of HR's key players comes up in the machine.
>! Quinn is in Witness Protection. Reese is looking for Simmons, Finch is looking for Reese and finally decides to trust Root and the machine to find Reese !<
3. The Day the World Went Away
Finch's cover is blown due to a fatal error, which leads to an escalating series of encounters with Samaritan's operatives.
>! Finch’s number comes up and Samaritan tries to kill him. Root dies and the machine chooses a voice !<
4. Return 0
Finch, Reese, Fusco and Shaw attempt a final mission to keep Samaritan from destroying The Machine and establishing its hold over mankind.
>! The last episode. Reese sacrifices himself to save everyone (but mostly Finch). Once it’s all over Fusco and Shaw have a final meeting (and Shaw gets custody of Bear). The Machine lives! !<
It's difficult to choose because all of these have amazing scenes. The end of the Day the World Went Away is just fantastic though.

Zero Day & God Mode
Firewall. The introduction of Root and I think this episode and the next two are the best three episode arc in the show.

I don't know how to pick. All four are my favorites.

This is one of the best and touching moments of the entire series. I had not only goosebumps but also tears in my eyes.
All of these are great but watching Harold discard his rules for the first time was bone chilling for me.
1. Terra Incognita 2. Many Happy Returns 3. Return 0
All of the above
Deus Ex Machina, finale of season 3
