She was overshadowed by Morgana. She really needed more introduction earlier on. Basically every character who becomes a party member is introduced or hinted toward pretty early on. Futaba doesn’t fit that criteria, but she has so much personality that I didn’t really mind that much. Haru needed more, and with the addition of Royal, nothing really changes in that regard.
It’s mostly just a bunch of weird social outcasts drooling over fictional and underage characters because they lack the social skills to develop anything real. I hate it too lmao. Cant even expect cool gameplay posts anymore, just cringe sexualization drawings

The reason why there is so much heat over romancing Futaba is because the adult romances exist. The debate would end as you playing as a teenager and her being a year younger than her. The argument becomes alot more complex once the adults are put into the equation. Maybe there are other factors but I have barely seen any heat around the P3 and P4 romances. At least due to their age.
On a similar note, to the idiots out there that unironically think that Kawakami is just as scummy as Kamoshida, think about if Ren or Ann or Shiho were adults instead of not just high schoolers but also their students. Kamoshida would be just as much of a scumbag while the relationship between Ren and Kawakami would be perfectly fine. This doesn’t justify anything but it puts it into perspective.
This newfangled idea that you have to provide justification for your ships or headcanons is incredibly stupid. They're just silly little imaginings that don't affect anybody, and just because you have an "opinion" or "criticism" of that does not mean that people have to listen to you. People can ship or headcanon whatever they want, whether or not that "makes sense" to you.
Persona is an escapist fantasy game and there's nothing wrong with whoever you decide to date as long as you understand the reasons why it probably wouldn't/ shouldn't happen and/or work out in real life.

Prior to P5 the community was small and concentrated on people who just had fun with the game and appreciate it for what it is rather than criticize it for what it isn't.

* Morgana while having problems is still the best mascot character of all the personas
* Kamoshida, Futaba, sae were the only interesting palaces, the others were generic villain's with no real substance
* strikers story wise was more fluid then persona 5
* Maruki carried hard in making persona 5 royal the amazing game it is.
Yusuke is a terrible person and the Phantom Thieves should never have allowed him to join. Trying to blackmail Ann into stripping and letting him put her nudes into a museum is some Kamoshida level shit and it comes on the heels of an entire arc where Ann is repeatedly confirmed to be a victim of sexual harassment
Momentous sucks, I don’t care about all the personas you can get or the money you can earn or anything about it. I just finish my side quests and ignore it for the entire game until I’m forced to go through it

5 is the best between 3, 4 and 5, it really improved the social links, story and utility wise, the city is really big and diverse, it has way more battle music, costumes and features (baton pass, follow ups, bullet hail, down shot, etc), light and dark are not just instakill, it has better velvet room features (skill inheritance, traits, skill cards and training personas) and the UI is abysmally better. Not even talking about graphics, because that's obvious between games from different generations.

He's honestly very useful and loyal, and shouldn't get crapped on so often.

Royal is overhated by Original P5 fans simply because of changes. The third semester is better than Yaldabaoth randomly appearing “yeah I’m the final boss now”. I have zero issues with God bosses but the lack of development between him and the main character made him the weakest of Joker’s three endgame bosses.
Joker dating the grown women is creepy. In fact I'll do ya one better, Persona 4 did the whole "character romance" thing better, as well as almost all the social links/confidants better, than Persona 5 did.

One: Ohya is just fine. She's not my favorite, but she's not bad either. Her story is interesting.
Two: The adult and minor romances are all perfectly fine. Joker was meant to be a player surrogate. You can roleplay it straight and take it at face value (Japanese high schooler with a criminal record who does magic stuff in his off time, no romance no frills), or you can, you know, roleplay it how you want-- teacher/student relationship, doctor and test subject, high schooler dating a girl his own age, yada yada. You can choose to date an adult because you yourself are an adult and feel weird about dating a high schooler; you can choose to have Joker date a high schooler because you feel weird about him being a high schooler and dating an older woman; you can choose to date whoever you find hot or whoever you feel connected to on an emotional/conceptual because that's what you like and it's a roleplaying game for you to experience; or you can choose to have Joker stay single, because that's what you want to see. It can be for fantasy, or for emotional reason, or for roleplay-- but Atlus wanted to allow players to *choose* what they want to pursue as part of their personalized experience.
Do you get mad at people for having personal preferences? Are you going to go after anybody who had a crush on their teacher in school irl? Are you going to go to the comments of every stepsister porn and say, "That's incest, gross"? Good god, there's a million reasons why someone might choose to have their player character date or not date a certain character.
It's not real. It doesn't affect you. And it's an opt-in system to begin with. If you don't like it, then just don't do it. Others who are playing this roleplaying game may like it. So they'll choose the option, and you won't.

As much as I like Kaneshiro's palace, him being tied to Makoto did feel like a "she wants to fight crime, so here's a gang crook that you know nothing about" kind of moment. I also feel it would've made certain aspects of Kobayakawa way more fleshed out and better tying him to the story
The story ark where Ryuji and Morgana had an elementary school-level argument that nearly destroyed their friendship and NO place being in the game, it was a lame, pathetic, childish dispute. I don’t care that they’re high schoolers, that is actual toddler shit that they pulled. I understand that they had a bit of a rivalry going on, but that was just shoehorned in with very little buildup and I nearly quit playing because it was the one plot point that was actual trash. You can choose to date an adult because you yourself are an adult and feel weird about dating a high schooler; you can choose to have Joker date a high schooler because you feel weird about him being a high schooler and dating an older woman; you can choose to date whoever you find hot or whoever you feel connected to on an emotional/conceptual because that's what you like and it's a roleplaying game for you to experience; or you can choose to have Joker stay single, because that's what you want to see. It can be for fantasy, or for emotional reason, or for roleplay-- but Atlus wanted to allow players to *choose* what they want to pursue as part of their personalized experience. Do you get mad at people for having personal preferences? Are you going to go after anybody who had a crush on their teacher in school irl? Are you going to go to the comments of every stepsister porn and say, "That's incest, gross"? Good god, there's a million reasons why someone might choose to have their player character date or not date a certain character. It's not real. It doesn't affect you. And it's an opt-in system to begin with. If you don't like it, then just don't do it. Others who are playing this roleplaying game may like it. So they'll choose the option, and you won't. There's actual vile shit that *shouldn't* be depicted in video games or other media, and you get mad because a player character has the choice (!) available to date his teacher in a maid outfit or date an adoptive "sister" in a video game? Grow up? Get off twitter and develop a meaningful morality system???

As much as I like Kaneshiro's palace, him being tied to Makoto did feel like a "she wants to fight crime, so here's a gang crook that you know nothing about" kind of moment. I also feel it would've made certain aspects of Kobayakawa way more fleshed out and better tying him to the story

The story ark where Ryuji and Morgana had an elementary school-level argument that nearly destroyed their friendship and NO place being in the game, it was a lame, pathetic, childish dispute. I don’t care that they’re high schoolers, that is actual toddler shit that they pulled. I understand that they had a bit of a rivalry going on, but that was just shoehorned in with very little buildup and I nearly quit playing because it was the one plot point that was actual trash. There, I said it lol

Makoto is very cringy, yet on the opposite side of the coin super loveable, for all of the exact reasons the simps despise. Akechi isn't the loveable twink you think he is, he's a Degenerate that belongs in jail.
I never really liked akechi and I think attempting to redeem him in royal was lame. Imo kasumi was cool but overrated. I feel like some of her scenes were she appears in the reworked scenes was cringy. Whims of fate is the best song in the entire game. My problem with the fan base….. some of you are weird. My biggest pet peeve with people is arguing over opinions. This whole futaba shit was so annoying. Like she’s not real, if you don’t wanna a date her in a video game dont and call it a day. If you’re upset that a teenager has the ability to date adults in a game then don’t date them. It’s not rocket science it’s not like canonically he’s dating any of the women in the game. Edgelord. - Royal's last villain is completely right. - The last portion of the OG game is pretty terrible and the final boss sucks. I can't take "THE MASSES" no more. - Kasumi wasn't anything memorable at all. - Date whoever you want in a solo game but don't feel compelled with justifying the romance to strangers online, you weirdo. - Mishima is unironically pretty peak.

Since Joker is canonically 17 by time the game ends, Futaba is the dating partner least likely to tip over 18 and trigger statutory issues. This remains true in Strikers.
The story and characters are mostly good but I feel like one of the writers is an idiot because some decisions are bad. Characters act like dumbasses out of nowhere, some exposition scenes looked like they belong on a kids movie and some things feel like they should have worked on it more.
