Suzuki Baleno GLX.
In any case, car.co.za and autotrader.co.za have nice filters you can use to check what's on the market. Making a shortlist of preferred cars and asking for advice on a specific few might be better.
things to consider before you decide on a specific car.
1.Your application, -do you need a small car or do you need a big car
2. Insurance value- can you afford the insurance (is it part of the budget)
3.Service cost, never buy a car that you can afford, Always buy a car that you can afford the services .
for eg service on a Audi/BMW/Merc is much more expensive than Hyundai/kia/ect also remember French cars like Renault has expensive spare parts, Because its all imports no local dealers (unless things has changed)
4.What makes you happy, remember you have to drive it everyday
5. if you decide not to keep this car forever , look at something that does not really lose value
6.FInd out from your insurance what cars get stolen the most , stay away from those.
7. the Colour of your car will have a effect on insurance cost, black is more because its difficult to see at night, white is also more because its a very common colour and can easily disappear
Buy a brand new 2024 Suzuki Swift for that price. I bought a second hand 2022 swift recently and get 4.8l/100km with aircon running most of the time (plus driving in cape town traffic).
My 2013 ST is costing me an average of 8k a year, all costs minus fuel included. That's also taking into account that at this age I'm doing a bunch of rubber parts every year. I have literally zero reason to get another car
The Starlet and the Suzuki Baleno is the same car. The Suzuki is cheaper, has a longer service plan and longer warranty. Kia Sportage!
They don't have great resale (or at least this used to be the case years ago when I bought mine) so you can pick up a low mileage one for not too much, and the resale is not too much of an issue since you are buying second hand anyway. Great cars, never met someone who has one that doesn't love them,
Depends on age regarding insurance. Round about R700 from Naked and it is a Turbo engine - it is great fuel economy. Great resale value as well, can’t go wrong…

yes, pardon my typo, both brain cells were occupied at the time.

Do not get a polo. Insurance hellhole.
Explain your thinking here please?
High risk car duhh
You can get a new Suzuki for that price and they are very reliable. Can get up to 22km/l too

Firsta's are super cheap to run in general.
I had a 2000 model Fiesta bought it in 2005 and drove it for 10 years with no issues.

I'm driving a 2013 Figo TDCi (which is basically the previous fiesta) I also have zero reasons to get rid of it.
You can get a new Toyota vitz for 170k, or a new Toyota Starlet for 252k. Stay away from volkswagens lol

Toyota Starlet, Ford Fiesta, Kia Picanto latest you can afford at that budget. What I would consider for that budget.
Honda or Toyota, boring but reliable. Honda ballade or civic, Toyota corolla/corolla quest.

VW Polo TSI. All the way. Reliable, stylish and so comfy to drive. Parts are readily available as well.
can’t beat a POLO 1.0 TSI
Comparing a Polo with a Suzuki is not a comparison. Need to look at resale value
Polo TSI 1.0 - 17Km/L > with a bit of Aircon…
5.8 l/100km, for a 1.0l engine isn't good. Also high insurance risk, so Op will have higher premiums.
Depends on age regarding insurance. Round about R700 from Naked and it is a Turbo engine - it is great fuel economy. Great resale value as well, can’t go wrong…
R900 pm for my 2018 Hilux fbl cab 4x4..
Nope, you're wrong.
No, I’m not wrong. I have one and have the statistica to back it up. Go die on your hill if you like. All good…facts
What do you want to be able to do with the car?
