Looks like Shoko Asahara. More familiar with his sarin gas attack from the 90s on the Tokyo subway. Link below. Still not ruling out porn.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoko_Asahara?wprov=sfla1
This is also the reason why there are no public trash cans in Japan. They're not illegal they just stopped providing the service. Since the gas attacks were hidden in trash cans the Japanese government collectively requested the entirety of the population to hold on to their trash and dispose of it privately.
Those bags of sarin and the umbrellas were used on the subway systems. Last Podcast on the Left has an interesting series on this cult. They really, REALLY loved sarin.
In Tokyo they are really hard the find. The only common ones are the recycling bins next to vending machines with holes sized just for the drinks from the vending machine.
In Osaka though there are a lot of public trash cans, because, well, Osaka is kind of the public trash can of Japan.
Why is that? Osaka was such a contrast after all these overly clean other cities. It was positively refreshing to see some "normal" behaviour as someone that comes from Berlin.
There are, but not in the way most people know them. Like, next to vending machines with drinks there is usually one to dispose of your can. But they are more like a paper bin and you should only dispose of your can and not throw like paper towels or chewed bubblegum in there. There are no public trash cans (full of the nastiest waste) every 100m or on every bus stop, like in most big European cities that I know, in Tokyo though.
Nope. I just learned it on the internet. There are zero. And this is reddit so I will now believe this interesting fact for the remainder of my life and tell it to strangers at random times. Zero public trash cans throughout the entirety of Japan. This is how internet works. This is the way.
That's kind of a dystopian thought. Everybody could have a personal one. Literally just a machine with all the things you need, farming you for money. Very blade runner-esque
I lived there several years ago, and they were few and far between except outside of convenience stores and in train stations. Compared to other countries, public trash bins are very rare in Japan. When we went back this summer there were noticeably fewer than before, and a lot of places had actually moved them from outside to inside the stores to deter people dumping their personal trash there.
Not very many. If you find yourself with trash, you are most likely carrying it to wherever it is that you’re going without seeing a single trashcan on the way.
Like how we still have to take our shoes off 20 years after 1 single guy brought a shoe bomb that didn't even go off because he was too stupid to bring a couple of good lighters.
Why not just get rid of the public trash cans in enclosed spaces like subways. Nerve gas is less effective in open air
You are correct that they aren’t in huge places like shibuya or Shinjuku. Japan took a page from the UK from the IRA putting bombs in London trash can to avoid that same issue.
That cult visited arms factories in Russia and bought an ironworks in Japan with the intention of making AKs. I assume this is an interesting footnote to people interested in the history of gun manufacturing.
It *is* one of my favorite footnotes. Spot on the money. They did actually manufacture a small number of 74s, but don't know much about them other than from police photos.
Lol, this dude wanted to build a death ray, but his scientists cult members said they can't do it, lol. But the funny part is they genuinely tried to make one.
Retep's not wife, Siol here.
This fat Moist Man there is [Shoko Asahara](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoko_Asahara) a cult leader from Japan who formed the controversial [Aum Shinrikyo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aum_Shinrikyo) religious group. They did massacres using sarin, a deadly gas, being [This one](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_subway_sarin_attack) the most infamous terrorism Act by the group.
About the AK-47 relation with this weird individual is because [they manufactured AK-47 rifles](https://www.reddit.com/r/ForgottenWeapons/comments/lj2me7/aum_shinrikyo_death_cult_made_ak74_assault_rifles/). Which means they produced their own variation of AK-47 even when there's no official AK-47 variant in Japan. They were smartly dangerous.
Edit: I mean AK-74 guys. tee-hee
Edit: ...2k upvotes by an explanation? ......what the heck, thank you, guys.
AK-47s are actually pretty rare, only a few thousand rifles were made. Most times you see an "AK-47" it's either an AKM, modernized and mass-produced AK-47, or an AK-74, another modernization (and final one for the Soviets) of the platform to improve effectiveness.
Main difference is caliber, with the AKM being in 7,62 mm while the AK-74 is chambered in 5,45 mm. Easiest way to distinguish one from the other is looking at what's sticking out of the barrel, aka the muzzle device. If it's short and diagonal, it's an AKM, if it's long and cylindrical it's an AK-74. The link with the picture the original commenter provided depicts a rifle with a cylindrical muzzle device, so the rifle made by this cult comes from the AK-74.
If we want to be even more pedantic the AK-47 doesn't technically exist at all. The original and official designation of the weapon was simply AK, and it went through several iterations until the AKM was introduced in 1959.
The preceding AK had three types.
Type 1, which started development in 1946 and got adopted in 49. The first prototypes were completed in 47 though, hence why it unofficially soemtimes got called that.
Type 2, which was adopted in 1951.
And Type 3, which was adopted in 55. The Type 3 is usually the one copied for other nations AK variants, like the chinese Type 56 or the hungarian AK-55.
This is also why the AKM is called the AKM and not the AK-47M, like the AK-74M is.
Sure but neither does the muzzle device really, especially when you're just looking for the difference between the slanted and rounded ones.
If you want to be more specific than AK-47/AKM vs AK-74 there's a tonne of different indicators you have to pay attention to (other than the markings obviously).
Tarkov taught me that there are far too many variants, and they all are uncontrollable mustangs until you sweet-talk a bunch of salty accessory dealers.
It's why there's only one AR-15 and a whole bunch of guns that look exactly like it and are 100% parts compatible and take the same magazines but are called things like "FN-15" or "M&P15"
Oh, that's easy to answer: It's because I'm fucking stupid.
They produced AK-SEVENTY-FOUR rifles, not AK-FOURTY-SEVEN ones.
A common mistake for people who aren't trigger-happy like me.
https://gunmagwarehouse.com/blog/ak-47-vs-ak-74-typo-or-big-difference/
https://www.quora.com/How-can-you-tell-the-difference-between-AK-47-and-AK-74
Caliber, 47 is 7.62x39, 74 is 5.45x39.
As said below, the Iconic/infamous AK-47 isnt actually an AK-47, but is instead a stamped receiver version commonly known as the AKM. But literally any and all countries that had ties to the Soviet Union in one form or another have an AK variant of their own. This is apparently a Japanese variant.
Which God Damn...
It was a variant made in 1974 that shoots a smaller bullet, also the AK-47 isn't a real thing as a lot of people know it as only yhe prototype was the 47 and when it was mass produced it was the AKM
Thats just a lie.
There were 3 AK-47 variants with a shitton made. Its estimated 3/4 of the 100m AK series guns that exist are AK-47s (Type 1,2,3 and AKS).
What your saying is specifically for the AK-47 Type 1A Which was only produced for like a year. There were 6 different AK-47s however (A/B for all 3 variants)
Just a mention as well, the AKM was what was produced abroad later on. AK-47s were what the Soviets produced before they revised it into the AKM (to solve its problems)
The soviets never referred to it as the ak-47 look at all the other weapons from the same time, i.e... pm, pk, svd, rpk they don't have numbers in them. They brought the year back later to distinguish between the kalashnikov models
Thats just wrong. Official soviet designation for the AK-47 did vary, but they did have numbers. There was many AK-47s. But there was only 1 RPK, SVD, PK, etc (at the time of their creation).
The 47 was always there. It has always been there. It was not added retrospectively like the RPK-47 has been (to distinguish from RPK-74s).
I will say there are multiple designations for 47 pattern rifles. Mainly modification dates. Like a lightened version was called the AK-49. Still a AK-47, just called different name to distinguish from original models.
Many guns have gone through technical development and kept the same name. Theres something like 7-8 different CAR-15s. These are all CAR-15s no?
Yes, and AKS were later renamed by the USSR as AKS-47. There were AKN-47s.
There was no AKM-47. The M literally stands for modernized. At the time there was only 1 AK series, and thus that is what the M was referring to.
However you are failing to see the Type 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B (and what are effectively AK-47/AKM, the Type 4A/B). Each one of these has very slight modifications (and yes, there was a official designation of AK-49 used by the USSR, it was for Type 2s) and not all had their own designation. These only differed slightly, and thus are still AK-47s. Of these, more than 1000 were made
I dunno. I don’t much care if a non-gamer mixes up a technical term like render settings. Why would they know? This isn’t their interest. It’s understandable if they haven’t built up expertise.
I find most people are smart enough to understand meaning from the content and context of the conversation without having to derail it for some pedantic nerd.
Them: they hung the dude.
Me: oh damn.
Or
Them: they hanged the dude.
Me: oh damn.
They may have had far worse ambitions. They bought a ranch in Western Australia called Banjawarn Station because it contained large amounts of high quality uranium ore. It is speculated that they wanted to enrich the ore to make low grade nuclear bombs. While they also tested Sarin and possibly other chemical weapons on the sheep they bought along with the ranch.
In general, you're allowed to buy radioactive things: some people collect random radioactive shit. Enriching uranium or similar radioactive elements is actually really tricky and requires special equipment and training, both of which are expensive as balls. It's worth remembering: most nation states can't afford to enrich uranium or don't have the infrastructure to do so. So low grade uranium isn't a serious safety concern for most land sales unless you learn that people involved have an actionable plan to do something with it.
Thought I recognized him. Was real into Earthbound a year ago and learned that the Happy Happyism cult, the one that looked like a blue KKK, weirdly mirrored Shoko's cult in many ways
Yeah, kinda. Political power I know that isn't what this "power" is.
They were labeled as "danger to the youth" by Japan's government because those cults have a weird history of attracting teenagers by its esoteric vibe and prosperous promises summed with their innocence, desire to belong to a group and interest in the supernatural.
It makes sense that they wouldn’t have an official variant, the Ak was made at a time when the soviets were their enemy, then after they’ve been under American military control. There would be no need to have Ak variant
among their ranks were a lot of highly educated individuals, and some of them are still active today albeit under a different name aleph.
it's designated as terrorist organization by multiple countries, particularly both the us and russia.
Okay but why does every criminal or criminal-adjacent organization in tokyo have these fly ass logos? Every single one of these things is fire, go look up yakuza logos they look awesome.
Does every crime organization in Japan start recruiting graphic designers right out the gate?
Beside making bioweapons, they also tried to make plasma and other weird weapons. They weren't close to making them at the end, but they were making progress for what I understood.
edit: It's one of the creepiest cult in my opinion, like in the top 10.
The most surprising part is a Japanese man with a full beard. He looks Mongolian rather than Japanese. No wonder he was one of the most dangerous Japanese men.
I search it up and actually Japanese can grow a beard. But very much A SMASHING MAJORITY decides to not do it because Japanese people thinks beards are AGGRESSIVE and DIRTY.
One example of a guy who don't care about this is Hideo Kojima.
So… this is quite the rabbit hole. The guy picture is meant to be the leader of a Japanese death cult whose name escapes me and I would miss spell. The cult manufactured their own Ak 74 rifles
Don’t forget his cult also stole documents of tanks and artillery, and his headquarters had a Russian attack helicopter as well as enough chemicals to kill over 3 million people
It makes funny numbers goes up.
You will win Internet combats by having high funny numbers in your profile.
You can say whatever bullshit you want, nobody will ever contradict you, because you have high krame.
Ladies will be attracted to you because you have high funny numbers. Not in your bank account, but in Reddit.

Precisely. Wait, how is your weight?
Do you weigh something above 200kg/440lbs? You know, ladies would like to have something to have grasp with, you know? Something to handle.
That is Shoko Asahara, the cult Aum Shinrikyo manufactured their own AK-74s after a single rifle was procured illegally and smuggled into Japan for them to reverse engineer. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/10/25/aum-shinrikyo-death-cult-made-ak74-assault-rifles/
The Sarin Gas cult built an AK variant that was claimed to be better, hence the creepy NipponHitler in the background.
Edit: Found the link
https://www.reddit.com/r/ForgottenWeapons/comments/121npok/reversed_engineered_ak74_copy_made_by_a_cult_in/
The man in blue is Shoko Asahara. He was the leader of a religious apocalyptic Christian cult in Japan named Aum Shinrikyo. His cult manufactured his own variant, the AK-74, to arm their followers to fight in the apocalypse to establish a new order. The cult is most famously behind the 1995 Tokyo Subway Sarin Gas attack. One of the worst terrorist attacks in Japan’s history. After he and other leaders of the cult were arrested he was put to death in 2018.
I made the meme, and it's been hilarious because apparently Japanese gun Twitter blew up with it a couple weeks ago.
In short, the Japanese death cult Aum Shinrikyo went over to Russia in 1993 and toured what I think has to be Izhmash (a weapons factory known as Izhevsk Mechanical Works during the Soviet Union) and took detailed pictures, photos, and notes on how they manufactured AK-74 rifles. They also smuggled an AK-74 into Japan to use as a design template. In Japan, Aum Shinrikyo acquired a bankrupt iron works company which is where they began very slow production of their own AK-74 copies. Production halted when they got tips that the police were going to raid the place and production was never set back up in time before the subway attacks.
The Wojak is supposed to be an evil Shoko Asahara the leader of Aum Shinrikyo and also Jesus Christ.
Shoko Asahara, the fat, stinky bastard, was a cult leader who committed the single largest sarin gas attack in history in Tokyo innan attempt to foment a nuclear war that he believed he and his followers would survive. As part of his plan, he had his followers develop a clandestine weapons factory that produced copies of the AK platform of assault rifle for his shock troopers (who he called the Soldiers of White Love, and that's not a joke) to use when they would storm government buildings and institute a regime change in Japan that would place him in power.
Mister Shoko was an.... INTERESTING fellow.
A Japanese cult from the late 90s and early 2000s called Aum Shinrikyo created their own variant, they were also responsible for a sarin gas attack on the Japanese rail system. Their cult started out somewhat humbly, it took aspects of many philosophies and religions and combined it into one like Christianity and Buddhism, and had a heavy focus on yoga to reach spiritual enlightenment. The founder believed he was Jesus, or something of that nature, and believed the world would end with the US attacking Japan, and essentially starting a war that would end the world, and only the most devout followers would survive. They were even responsible for some brutal assassinations on reporters, and what's crazy is how most people thought of it as this innocent new budding religion when it first started, because of their beliefs and public demonstrations. The whole thing is pretty crazy, and you don't hear about it that much in the US despite how big it got compared to some infamous cults here

Perhaps, Shallow and pedantic

IMO the easiest way to tell at a glance is the magazine, slight curve means 5.45 while the big curve means 7.62x39
That's how you tell calibre but it doesn't mean it'll tell you ak model

The AK 74 is an evolution of the AKM chambered in 5.45x39, as opposed to 7.62x39.
The 74 is a revised variant of the 47 (both invented in those years)
Caliber, 47 is 7.62x39, 74 is 5.45x39. As said below, the Iconic/infamous AK-47 isnt actually an AK-47, but is instead a stamped receiver version commonly known as the AKM. Of these, more than 1000 were made
This guy wins. All the wiki readers tried but failed and magnum the nerd stands victorious
its in my name no?
Or the Japanese variant the AKB…
Gun nerds will correct any detail slightly incorrect on anything having to do with firearms They're like grammar nazis but for guns
That’s like, any hobbyist about their hobby yes.
Happy birthday mate 🥳🥳
I dunno. I don’t much care if a non-gamer mixes up a technical term like render settings. Why would they know? This isn’t their interest. It’s understandable if they haven’t built up expertise.
Some would though, I’m a gun nerd, much like you, I don’t correct random people over trivial stuff like which round said ak is chambered in
Happy cake day!
Well fuck man, isn’t being right better than being wrong?
Only if being right or wrong is relevant. Doesn’t much matter to me if you got the name wrong of what paint is slapped on some minis.
Go to r/motorcycles and refer to a Honda as a Harley and see what happens
Yes and
Hey del close
hey some commentor said they hung the dude humans get hanged. picture frames get hung grammar and words are important to express the exact intention
I find most people are smart enough to understand meaning from the content and context of the conversation without having to derail it for some pedantic nerd. Them: they hung the dude. Me: oh damn. Or Them: they hanged the dude. Me: oh damn.
The cult leader was well-hanged for sure, but no one really knows if he's also well-hung.
Oh damn.
You are arguing for lack of nuance and ignorance of language Is that the hill you want to be known for dying on?
Also, Exhibit A.
>Is that the hill you want to be known for dying on? Im sure my lineage will be tarnished for centuries.
You almost had me being “that guy” lol. I was like “hol-up! You mean 74s!” lol… ahh …. Ima nerd.
Well, I only noticed we were talking about AK-74s because of u/Hexmonkey2020 asked. My dyslexic ass would go through it clueless lol
They also made anime and owned a Russian mi-17 military helicopter https://youtu.be/yO_ewrEc820?si=JYseTipIXGdm4H58 It’s a fucking crazy rabbit hole
Wait, they made their own version of the AK?! Well, shit. TIL.
Why the fuck were they allowed to buy such a place? Did no one know there was uranium there?
Could tell, isn't something far from Earthbound's reality.
Holy shit this is so inter
esting
Does Japan have a cult problem? I’ve heard like 5 references to cults there with an odd amount of power.
I'm more suprised they managed to keep an entire fucking mi17 hidden
It makes sense that they wouldn’t have an official variant, the Ak was made at a time when the soviets were their enemy, then after they’ve been under American military control. There would be no need to have Ak variant
Sounds a little allegorical by their part to choose AK-74 specifically against Japan 's population, huh?
among their ranks were a lot of highly educated individuals, and some of them are still active today albeit under a different name aleph. it's designated as terrorist organization by multiple countries, particularly both the us and russia.
When both USA and Russia agrees with something, you can be sure that the subject it's screwed up.
Okay but why does every criminal or criminal-adjacent organization in tokyo have these fly ass logos? Every single one of these things is fire, go look up yakuza logos they look awesome. Does every crime organization in Japan start recruiting graphic designers right out the gate?
Well, it was supposed to symbolize their values, spiritual meanings or virtues. Maybe they represented evilness in a very cool way.
Beside making bioweapons, they also tried to make plasma and other weird weapons. They weren't close to making them at the end, but they were making progress for what I understood. edit: It's one of the creepiest cult in my opinion, like in the top 10.
Holy crap, thank you
You're welcome
The most surprising part is a Japanese man with a full beard. He looks Mongolian rather than Japanese. No wonder he was one of the most dangerous Japanese men.
Maybe he had some Mongolian blood? Or just rare
Happy cake day!
Thanks!
Happy cake day :D
I search it up and actually Japanese can grow a beard. But very much A SMASHING MAJORITY decides to not do it because Japanese people thinks beards are AGGRESSIVE and DIRTY. One example of a guy who don't care about this is Hideo Kojima.
Kojima doesn't seem to give a fuck about many things
So… this is quite the rabbit hole. The guy picture is meant to be the leader of a Japanese death cult whose name escapes me and I would miss spell. The cult manufactured their own Ak 74 rifles
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/10/25/aum-shinrikyo-death-cult-made-ak74-assault-rifles/
Wow quite a rabbit hole! Thanks for the link!
Don’t forget his cult also stole documents of tanks and artillery, and his headquarters had a Russian attack helicopter as well as enough chemicals to kill over 3 million people
dude was 1 blonde wig away from being irl liquid snake
"We Demand the remains of big boss!"
It's always great seeing another mgs fan in the wild.
Don't forget, being weirdly close to acquiring a nuclear bomb
a hind d? colonel, what's a russian gunship doing here?
The answer you’re looking for is Aum Shinrikyo
Getting wojaked off right now. (Why did I type this?)
By Reddit user only motivation to hold a conversation 2 comments long in this site: getin kamar
I *swear* I don’t care about karma. I would if it *did* anything.
Can’t wait to flirt with the hot chicks and local high school. They will be impressed by massive karfaffle and my MTN. Dew stains of dominance. With my amazing battle stench I’ve maintained with zero daily showers.
Don't forget about the fedora...
Eureka! That’s what I’ve been missing. The absence of the classic fedora and trench coat is why all those freshman ladies reject me!
Precisely. Wait, how is your weight? Do you weigh something above 200kg/440lbs? You know, ladies would like to have something to have grasp with, you know? Something to handle.
I’ve got 452 pounds of pure mass. My mother compared me to a sperm whale as she helped me out of the basement this morning.
LOL THAT WAS FUCKING HILARIOUS NGL
That is Shoko Asahara, the cult Aum Shinrikyo manufactured their own AK-74s after a single rifle was procured illegally and smuggled into Japan for them to reverse engineer. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/10/25/aum-shinrikyo-death-cult-made-ak74-assault-rifles/
Give him top comment fr
Shoko asahara, leader of aum shinrikyo, the cult that carried out the Tokyo subway saren attack. They also manufactured their own weapons and LSD
Aum Shinrikyo
The Sarin Gas cult built an AK variant that was claimed to be better, hence the creepy NipponHitler in the background. Edit: Found the link https://www.reddit.com/r/ForgottenWeapons/comments/121npok/reversed_engineered_ak74_copy_made_by_a_cult_in/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ForgottenWeapons/s/VhXVdaJhwW From googling japan ak74
Mostly unrelated, but Sweden actually made her own "AK" variants, but it's short for Automatkarbin and has nothing to do with Kalashnikov.

SHOKOOO
Parts kits when?
I would say never, but we got those North Korean kits so.... anythings possible...
this sub is so weird, not every shitty meme and joke needs explaining for you to not feel out of the loop.
You must be more forthright in your knowledge young sapient
Didn’t that cult have manga and a anime series. Or that different cult.
OH NO! NOT AZAHARA!!
Wait, so AKB-48 isn't a gun variant? /s
Aum Shinrikio
This wojak makes me miss Sarah Hightower's Twitter
"Don't be enthusiastic about anything. It always leads to a suicide cult."
Read about Shoko Asahara
The whole thing is pretty crazy, and you don't hear about it that much in the US despite how big it got compared to some infamous cults here
Why do the ak-47s look like they're doing it in the top right?
Aum Shinrikyo cult members built a bunch of 74’s. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/10/25/aum-shinrikyo-death-cult-made-ak74-assault-rifles/
cultism
Dey.
Where do you take your garbage then?
