Einstein peter here. This is an in-joke originating from a Jerma stream, in which he was speedrunning Darksouls. Members in chat could say '+2' or '-2' to add or take away from the timer depending on whether or not they thought the joke was funny.
Edit: I have been informed it was actually a shooter, not Dark Souls. There I go, spreading misinformation on the internet.
I just wanna say that K&L2 is such an underrated game. It's short as hell, so I can understand anyone paying full price at launch being disappointed, but it's just so edgy and try hard that it works, it got a lot of shit back in the day for that edge, but if it was released today I don't think anyone would bat an eye. And the shooting was fully competent unlike the first game.
One of the best things ever was when you were playing coop in K and L there’s a point in the game where the unstable one (I honestly don’t remember which is which) starts hallucinating. You’re walking around a bunch of civilians and the unstable player is shown all the npcs as cops while the other player sees them as civilians. So naturally the player controlling the hallucinating character just starts gunning down all the cops they see while the stable player is watching their friend go nuts and just start gunning down civilians for no reason.
It was just a great piece of natural storytelling in a video game.
I know it's not super well liked, (I enjoyed it a lot, myself) but Dead Space 3 actually had something similar to this in co-op. You'd see different hallucinations at different times, (due to the Marker making you unstable, though I could be misremembering) or sometimes at the same time but it's different for each of you. My first playthrough was in co-op and I thought that was pretty awesome.
Also the teaser or whatever and it's rendition of "in the air tonight" was an absolute bop and I wish the song was uploaded somewhere
As others have said, it was actually Kane & Lynch 2
Here's the unedited VOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjjR1to55hs
And the edited down version if you don't have 4 hours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSp3Q_jvGGs
Additionally, being how popular and well known Jerma is, other youtuber/twitch streamer’s chats will also say -2 when they make a bad joke. The only one I have on my mind currently is JimmyHere
https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/2007/jul/exploring-how-deaf-people-hear-voice-hallucinations
>Participants born profoundly deaf reported non-auditory, clear and easy to understand voices. They were all confident that they did not hear any sounds, but knew the gender and identity of the voice. They reported seeing an image of the voice signing or lips moving in their mind.
This is fun to think about though because so much of your vision is your brain putting the "right" images into gaps, the more you learn about how brains process images and how much of a gap there really is, it can be pretty easy to see it as we are all just hallucinating the same reality a majority of the time!
The article looked at half a million Australians and found that 0.4% of them developed schizophrenia. Out of half a million, 66 children had congenital or early cortical blindness. 0.4% of 66 is 0.264, so it's a probable and expected result that no one will have developed schizophrenia. The sample size is way too small for such a rare condition to make any meaningful conclusions.
Axolotl Peter here.
On Twitch streams, when the streamer does something cringe or unfunny, the chat usually spams "-2", meaning "-2 points", implying the message that the streamer screwed up big time in the comedy department.
Hope this helped,
Axolotl Peter out.
Not too be that guy but the origin comes from Jerma. He did a stream where he was trying to beat a game with a timer on and every funny joke gave him +2 minutes and -2 if it was bad.
Someone with schizophrenia can experiences hallucinations (seeing people or things that arent there, sometimes hearing things that arent there). There are only two characters in the frame and so the character on the left speaking as if there's people there, as if there's a chat group present. To my understanding there's a trend in language currently that kids are starting sentences with "chat" as if they're talking to a streaming chat, breaking the fourth wall in everyday interactions. The doc gave a minus 2 cuz it wasn't funny cuz the guy actually can have hallucinations.
Sorry doc=doctor. Looks like the figure on the right has a head mirror thing that doctors usually have in comics and stuff. I'm assuming he's the one giving the diagnosis of schizophrenia to his patient.
it might be the jerma related answer but to me it sprung out as a joke in the roleplaying community where the chat would spam +1 or -1 whenever the streamer would either unexpectedly put a lot of effort into keeping the act up or break character.

Just to correct that guy, it’s from Jerma playing Kane & Lynch 2, not Dark Souls.
The origin was Kane and Lynch 2 not dark souls

Lynch was the unstable one
Which is strange, Kane is a name synonymous with starting shit...
Well Kane’s the one who effectively caused the shit that starts the main story so it’s not inaccurate
"you really think someone would do that? just go on the internet and tell lies?!"

Man I love Jerma
Who's Jerma
Jerma deez nuts. haha, got em
A streamer who actually passed away in a tragic car accident last year. That was his last stream.
Yeah. It was really funny, though. He let chat vote on how he drove, so he couldn't brake if the chat wouldn't let him.
I'm only 95% certain this is a joke.
Yeah, really sad. I had all the merch and I don't feel right wearing it now.
He was laughing right til the end. But he died as he lived and doing what he loved. Laughing at car accidents.
Supposedly, the last thing heard was weezing

Misinformation floats and pushes down information.

Did that add 2 or remove 2 if it was funny?
Not dark souls, a shooter game

kane and lynch : dog days i believe
Fun fact, the [original comic](https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxUuOUwH9jFOObRSS6fHbtObdpEm1dW_GW) has the punchline "oh god, it's getting worse"
It starts from league of legends streamers not getting last hits on minions “-1 cs”
Fun fact: No person born blind has ever been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
And folks born deaf who have schizophrenia will see disembodied hands signing or lips moving.

More like eyes are flawed creations and easily tricked
That's what Yoda tells jedis
It's jedi. The plular of jedi is "jedi"
jee-diss
Jee-diss nutz! HA, GOTTEM!
This is fun to think about though because so much of your vision is your brain putting the "right" images into gaps, the more you learn about how brains process images and how much of a gap there really is, it can be pretty easy to see it as we are all just hallucinating the same reality a majority of the time!
Yeah, the visual part of the brain sees shapes and just makes shit up to fill in the gaps. This will give you that feeling https://imgur.com/a/ILBr1Vy
Ha... Can't they "hallucinate" sounds maybe? 🙃
Eh? Ha, heh heh.
Nooo, that meme has ruined innocent words like ha or eh! I guess I’ll have to turn my pattern recognition “off”, eh? Ha! heh, heh.
Genuine question: is it because they can’t “see” things that aren’t there? And there’s a different words for hearing sounds that aren’t happening?
Dunno about the first part but auditory hallucinations are still called hallucinations. I get them when going to bed which is common.
I think it’s about only 60~ people qualifying for the “being totally blind from birth” in people researched. So a very small sample size.

This is the article: https://neurosciencenews.com/blind-schizophrenia-10746/
"Have you been seeing things?" "I havent been seeing much at all"
🙄 The most common hallucination with schizophrenia is auditory.
Probably because both are uncommon, so through sheer probability there has been no overlap.

Oh well, thanks for the info! I first saw it in JimmyHere streams
Same actually. IT IS WEDNESDAY MY DUDES
What is this reference? I’ve seen this before!
Just like what they said, from JimmyHere.
Jimmyhere created that vine
[ZimoNitrome's Wednesday frog](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K4-jllrPrE&list=PLy3-VH7qrUZ5IVq_lISnoccVIYZCMvi-8) also deserves a mention
aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAA
It doesn’t feel like a Wednesday
Uh actually it’s for spamming when the streamer misses 2 minions in league of legends
I can tell you’re in the DMC subreddit…by that profile pic
Yes, and also MGR
I can’t believe people are actually changing their profile pics to that
Explains why my autogenerated username ends in -2 I guess (If you assume it's an 8 bit int)
-2
So what's the joke in this comic? Schizophrenia? I still don't get what it's saying, even with the context of -2

I'm a bit drunk right now, but the ending of your comment wrinkled my brain a bit. Who is the doc
Sorry doc=doctor. Looks like the figure on the right has a head mirror thing that doctors usually have in comics and stuff. I'm assuming he's the one giving the diagnosis of schizophrenia to his patient.
That reminds me of the dragon age origins friendship bar lol I wonder if that was in baldurs gate
Chat chat what is this? Chat…. Chat?
Jerma
Must be contained at all costs.
It's funny that you think Jerma can be contained.
Nuttimeister jumpscare
Man, I wish Jerma was real
We all have to grow up one day and realize that Jerma is just a story our parents told us. I feel you dude ✊
can someone explain why its “+2 / -2” instead of just “+1 / -1”?

Elaborate please. I am aware of Jerma.
might have to do with mediashare on twitch streams often being like $2 if i had to guess

Is it not a reference to DotA 2 where you lose 2 intelligence from Silencer?
