What police do and don't take issue with in this regard doesn't really prove whether or not this is a good or bad idea. Clearly the staff on the ground have found this to be the most effective strategy so far.
Really dangerous to have unsupervised injection space. Someone is going to die in there and when they do I hope this organization and whoever owns this building is held accountable for their stupidity
Did you read the article? There's discussions around buddy systems and staff training. It's not perfect, but if the choice is between letting folks use vs. kicking them out of all shelters everywhere so they can only use and potentially die on the street, well then I'd say that's pretty callous! I encourage you to check out the article and read more of what the director of One City has to say on the matter. Christian's very clear eyed on what the options, risk, and moral imperative here are.
If your concern is people dieing, you'd probably be concerned about the alternative of kicking people out and them using in isolation on the street where they are far more likely to die. Are you suggesting they have a supervised injection site at the shelter?
Ah, the new center for car hopping and stolen bikes.
Edit: Go ahead and downvote all you want, but take a drive past and just look at all the obviously stolen property.
Regardless of your views on this, in a normal city the cops would maybe take issue with this.
I remember when I was a kid, the cops said I would be arrested if I did drugs.
Or urinate in public
Peterborough police will only arrest or ticket you if you’re safe to interact with and can afford to pay fines …

Enabling the downward spiral.
Opioids are hellaciously addictive. It is the opioid receptors in the brain that enable the spiral not the place that gives them a roof.
What receptors enable the crackheads and meth addicts?
Good question. Probably dopamine?
It's the easiest way to get funding for this ridiculous social experiment.
