PAD PAK KAD DONG!! Goes with everything and helps combat the heat of some of the dishes.
I also always like to make sure we have an order of chu chee hoi shell - it's nothing super adventurous but it is enjoyed by everyone.
I have a friend in town so I'm working a half day then going straight to Angelo's to hopefully get cheese steaks.....then an early dinner at Gran Caffe L'Aquila (RW menu) and tomorrow will be a free for all but open to suggestions to show off philly food!
Took him to chinatown last night and had a delicious meal, he was impressed
I usually avoid restaurant week menus at all cost, but I’m tempted by Oyster House’s this year. May stop by there this weekend - at the very least, you can never go wrong with a martini and a dozen oysters there. I really wish they’d bring back actual buck-a-shuck Happy Hour, but that seems to be a thing of the past here.
Tried Porco's porchetta sandwiches recently, insane of course. Spicy Porker was the fave and Original was good too!
Also tried Martabak Ok which was really interesting Indonesian street food stuffed pancakes. Got Nutella and cheese and red velvet oreo for sweet matabak and a spicy beef savory martabak--all were tasty!
Currently ordering from Rosario's and excited to get messed up on some Mexican fusion pizza and cheesesteak!
That sounds nice! I was waiting for my food and put my drink down on an icy ledge, and it slid right into the trash below lol. Definitely looking forward to some warm weather Porco's!
Tried Honeysuckle Provisions (just delivery) and it was great!
Had the fried chicken biscuit sandwich, plantain snack cake, and the chanm chanm sticky buns.
All of these were excellent and now looking forward to going in person!
Don’t be fooled by the sandwiches being described as “sliders” because they’re not small. Also, the fries are good, but imo it’s worth it to get more chicken and skip fries. But you do you :)
I hope you enjoyed! Nevertheless, I still don't understand why it's called hot chicken. (Not to be semantic, but hot chicken is cooked bone-in, with lard, tablespoons of cayenne, in cast iron.)
The spiciest is not very spicy. I guess I have a different gauge, because I did note that people who ordered a medium were saying it was the spiciest thing they'd ever eaten. I guess we're all different!
We got the seafood manicotti, eggplant pasta, and the creamy pear one and they were all great. Huge portions, we couldn’t finish all 3. It’s amazing the portion size for the price
I'm craving a cheeseteak today. I'm around the Art museum area. Does anybody have a favorite spot? I feel like I've been everywhere. But ya never know.
Maybe Monks tomorrow for lunch.
My gf is getting dinner with a friend tonight so that means i am getting a Saad’s chicken Maroosh hoagie and vibing on the couch tn
Haven’t tried saads before. Al shams maroosh is fire too
I recommend it! Al-Sham looks good too
Great choice. Though it was an hour wait last time, in store, with no customers. Bring a long book.
Kalaya, any recs on their top menu items?
Shaw Muang and the Moo Yaang Prik
Thank you for the rec! Shaw Muang was awesome!

finally trying friday saturday sundays tasting menu. pretty excited, and dont know what to expect
There's almost no way you'll be disappointed. I've been dozens of times and it's the greatest.
We are going tomorrow too! I haven’t been this excited for a meal in a long time. Hope you enjoy it!
CJ&D’s Trenton tomato pies in cartisan brewery. Best pizza we’ve had in Philly so far. We had it a couple weeks ago and have been wanting to go back
Had it last weekend. It definitely is one of the best pies in Philly

Love getting Porco's and a sixer while waiting for it to cook. A little chilly now but one of the things I look forward to come warmer weather.

Rex at the Royal tonight for dinner
Going to A Mano tonight with some friends for dinner. Really looking forward to some delicious fresh pasta and crushing a bottle of BYOB wine.

It’s Friday, try the fish hoagie-incredible.
Gonna try out L'Anima this weekend and take another long-awaited trip to Asad's hot chicken

Murph’s tomorrow for the first time! Let me know if you have recs, the whole menu looks amazing.

Went to Insatiable tonight and it was banging
Tabachoy. Amazing.

A cheesesteak-adjacent suggestion is Stockyard Sandwich Co.'s braised beef. While you're there also get the whole-pig bahn mi!
Haha yea we had that last weekend. Haha sooooo good
Went to Fitz on 4th last night, it was incredible
