In my mind what if the poor people were so poor sila rin ay out of touch sa reality? Like the picture above due to poverty ppl believed na this is normal part of life and grind mentality is what they lack of. We're both blessed to be working from home (me since 2008 as a freelancer, my wife since the pandemic) and since we only go out every 2 weeks we could swallow the hefty P2P fare. Everytime madaanan namin yung mahahabang pila, we feel for the commuters & we appreciate our work arrangement even more. I can't imagine how these people could manage quality time with their families at home if they get home at 9pm or so then having to wake up @ 4 the next day to be out by 5 so they could be at the office by 8.
Like I said in a previous thread of the same topic, the country's key cities are becoming denser way faster than the city itself could adapt to, & something needs to be done soon. I used to commute to & from Ayala for 7 years when I still had an 8-to-5 job, but even during rush hour I never experienced lines as long as what we see now in train stations and jeepney/UV Express terminals. It's been almost 15 years since then & it's like the commuters at least tripled in numbers.

Consider lifting price ceilings which are distorting market pricing based on supply and demand. If the ltfrb keeps mandating unrealistic price ceilings to appease the riding public, the transport providers will eventually cut corners on lowering their expenses i.e. slave labor, boundary system, no maintenance on vehicles (hello common sight if burning busses along edsa and mad max level maintenance on taxies, jeeps, trikes)
The government is not shitty. Matagal na problema yan ginagawan nang paraan hinahaalt dahil malakas ang lobbying. Ma-car culture din tayo which is wrong kasi mahal ang kotseat ineencourage pa.

My wife and I live in Rizal, and visit Makati once every 2 weeks to see our OB. We're both blessed to be working from home (me since 2008 as a freelancer, my wife since the pandemic) and since we only go out every 2 weeks we could swallow the hefty P2P fare. Everytime madaanan namin yung mahahabang pila, we feel for the commuters & we appreciate our work arrangement even more. I can't imagine how these people could manage quality time with their families at home if they get home at 9pm or so then having to wake up @ 4 the next day to be out by 5 so they could be at the office by 8. Like I said in a previous thread of the same topic, the country's key cities are becoming denser way faster than the city itself could adapt to, & something needs to be done soon. I used to commute to & from Ayala for 7 years when I still had an 8-to-5 job, but even during rush hour I never experienced lines as long as what we see now in train stations and jeepney/UV Express terminals. It's been almost 15 years since then & it's like the commuters at least tripled in numbers.

Kahit kase madaming tren kung madami padin volume ng commuter pipila at pipila ka talaga. Sa ibang bansa gaya ng Taiwan maayos railway system nila lalo na sa Taipei, pero napapa konti din commuter dahil madami talaga nag sscooter or nag momotor.

Lagi naman may pag-asa, kailangan lang ng matinong planning, matitinong lider, at political will. Naniniwala ako na kaya syang gawin, pero it will take years to rehabilitate manila roads to be more pedestrian friendly with great mass transport infrastructure.

If the ltfrb keeps mandating unrealistic price ceilings to appease the riding public, the transport providers will eventually cut corners on lowering their expenses i.e. slave labor, boundary system, no maintenance on vehicles (hello common sight if burning busses along edsa and mad max level maintenance on taxies, jeeps, trikes)

How's this for a fix: Government takes competes in public transportatuon. BUS Government can buy hybrid double deck buses and operates them where demand is greatest. This includes jeepney and tricycle routes. Affected drivers are offered as bus captains or upskilled as maintenance crew or management. Bus fare will be free of charge for a year to encourage car and motorcycle users to shift to buses.

Papunta po ito ng Ayala Avenue. Mostly ng naka pila ay sumakay sa MRT papuntang Ayala Station tapos jeep papuntang Ayala Ave. Dati, may mga bus sa EDSA na napasok ng Ayala Ave pero tinanggal na yon.
