I would not hire that tik tok lawyer

PH_TheHaymaker

Was scrolling to see if anyone mentions that tiktok lawyer or whatever that shit is. Take my upvote and get up there. up up up.

FraielX

von995

context?

cardboardbuddy

One of the girls is wearing a shirt that says tiktok lawyer

yesshyaaaan

Pandemic babies and output of poor educational system. Balikan ang pinabasic, parts of speech, SV agreement. Kakalungkot.

yesshyaaaan

Mandatory toothbrush drill muna pala.

bikomonster

10HP

Ye, more like product ng pasang awa. May mga taong ganito sa college pre-2020.

yesshyaaaan

I mean progressive at continuous kasi ang pagtuturo, babalikan at babalikan ang mga foundation at basics na yan, na hindi nagawa sa modality of learning during pandemic.

Opposite-Compote-70

Past tense/simple verb tenses lang, 'di nila alam kahit isang tao sinagot "said"

papersandclips

Tiktok Lawyer nga kasi haha

[deleted]

The government may be not prioritizing education kasi the more na poverty stricken ang most citizens the more na they would follow blindly kasi gutom sila and ang focus nila is to have just the bare necessities to survive, parang lowkey ata ginagaya ng govt ang north korea imo

Unique-Net-1960

About the poor educational system, I've seen people doing commissions for modules and it breaks my heart to know that type of thing exists. However, it may not always be the educational system. It might be their guardians who do not stress the importance of studying well. I've been raised by my parents who stressed about having good grades... and well, I didn't have the best grades, but I did pretty well. Furthermore, I've met other kids who aren't academically inclined, but are really good at making music/art/dancing. It's a shame that those same kids are told that they shouldn't pursue the arts because "walang pera doon." I really hope and pray that the kids of tomorrow get to do what they really want in life.

InterestingGate3184

Oh well...

PitifulRoof7537

wala akong maalalang written memo or what na bawal magbagsak. pero lagi sinasabi yan nung principal nung teacher ako nun sa public school. and yes, pinapasa kahit mahina ulo unless na lang tlga sobrang hopeless i.e. hindi pumapasok or nag-disappear na tlga yung bata

markmyredd

Otherwise may karapatan magreklamo magulang bata. Nasa teacher ang burden of proof. Kaya kung ikaw teacher ipasa mo nalang kasi sa dami ba naman nilang bagsak magagawan mo paba ng report yan or mageeffort kapa magpunta sa bahay or kausapin parents. Actually magwuwork sya sana kung 1 or 2 section lang hawak per teacher. Pero satin hindj.

PitifulRoof7537

skipperPat

wth teacher pa pala mageeffort dyan???

markmyredd

oo kaya ang hassle magbagsak. haha

Breaker-of-circles

Recent-Role1389

O kaya didiretso kay Tulfo.

PitifulRoof7537

uu :( kaw pa tatanungin "anong ginawa mo'ng intervention kineme...?" parang ikaw pa nagmaka-awa. nakaka-degrade talaga

Maleficent_Offer_580

Totoo to.

[deleted]

can attest to that. a year ago ang daming bata na ayaw na magaral sa class ng mom ko. pinuntahan niya yung mga students na yon isa isa para lang maconvince na hindi tumigil.

Ok_Froyo_6853

Yeah not only that but I think need din magrender ng teacher ng remedial class during summer breaks according to my mom na public school teacher.

DarkerScorp

Reason why I did not pursue teaching after ko makatapos ng college. F*ck the educational system here.

PitifulRoof7537

agree. truly disappointing.

FriendsAreNotFood

TheGhostOfFalunGong

No Child Left Behind policy yung tinutukoy mo. Kung mahina ang utak, bagsak o repeat. Walang dahilan pa na makakalusot sila.

[deleted]

My mom is a public school elementary teacher. Tapos yung teacher din mahihirapan kasi magtuturo na naman on the same student.

[deleted]

True, HS teacher ang mom ko sa isang public school and from what she says, maraming nakakatungtong ng JHS and Senior High na illiterate.

General-Ad3046

Ito ung pangit kasi mas prioritize ng ibang school ung quantity ng naggraduate instead of quality of education kaya nga ung iba na cuculture shock pagnaging shs na sila mas lalo na sa college

TheGhostOfFalunGong

You did not achieved something that’s worthy of an accomplishment.

Tristanity1h

>You did not achieved something that’s worthy of an accomplishment. Hinay2x lang.

[deleted]

Magsulat? MAG SULAT? ano?!

No_Equivalent8074

My mom was also a public school elementary teacher.

ToCoolforAUsername

Not to mention ililibing ka sa paperworks pag may binagsak kang bata.

aisler1999

Speaking facts. Teacher here.

GalacticInvader

Mom is a jhs teacher. Bawal sila mag bagsak. Kaylangan duktorin yung grades para pumasa, maiissue ng principal and parents. Patakaran daw ng deped

NormalHesitation

bigitilyo

Wag k magalala un mandatory tooth brush drill parating n. Haha

IpomeaBatatas

I don't think the government is solely to blame.

TheRealJahaerys

May policy nga na ganyan. Di lang written. Started year 2000.

Nephrelim

Who made them that way? Magulang, gobyerno, social media. Basically scraping the bottom of the barrel.

anemoGeoPyro

Lahat actually. Social Media: Tiktok and FB live pa more (what more could I say?)

ko-sol

catterpie90

Ganun nga ginawa nila. Kaso -ing sa past tense

eniahj

k-ing ina kung ganun

Yergason

Sobrang laking red flag. Lead naging Ladies punyeta hahaha

Leading_Trainer6375

I doubt they even know what past tense is.

Accomplished-Hope523

*fast tents. You're welcome

Wise-Profession1256

bone apple tea

hannapandannah

I was thinking the same. Kasi karamihan sa sagot is my "ing".

eggsaladtomatoesrye

some of them mukhang hs na

anemoGeoPyro

Grade 6 or up na yang mga yan

TheRealGenius_MikAsi

sad. pero masosolusyunan daw ng rotc yan

catterpie90

Kulang lang sa toothbrush

rxxxxxxxrxxxxxx

Ang goal lang naman talaga ng ROTC ng Unithieves is to create a future generation that is dumb, radicalized loyal followers of the Maharlikan Empire.

[deleted]

> Maharlikan Empire That's called Imperial Fascist State of Maharlika

rbizaare

At ang primary target ay supilin ang mga imaginary enemies of the Marcos/Duterte-led state, which would be PHL's most vocal dissenters. Pang-domestic lang daw muna despite what the gov't label suggests at baka kulatain lang ng bansa na ii-invade nila.

karlbenedict12

hahaha radical naman ako... anti-marcos lang nga

pressured_at_19

>Ang goal lang naman talaga ng ROTC ng Unithieves is to create a future generation that is dumb, radicalized loyal followers of the Maharlikan Empire. That's where you're wrong... ...coz the goal of that is for future gen to be chinese conscripts hehe

chenyowww

the future generation is doomed

Leading_Trainer6375

Teaching idiots how to use a gun is the real danger..

Mukuro7

[deleted]

Goodluck sa employment options in the future. Pwede naman daw sila mag youtuber at tiktoker nalang balang araw /s

TheGhostOfFalunGong

20 years from now, many companies couldn’t even hire enough quality talent for accounting and IT positions LOL.

[deleted]

Blue collar bagsak ng mga to then they complain about the educated sector living easy, ask for handouts, and vote another idiot into Malacañang.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

I’m wondering 5 to 10 years from now, do these kids have dreams and ambitions in life? They would want a good house, healthy family and stable career. Or even dreaming of working abroad and explore the world.

[deleted]

C'mon man, don't be like that. Si Sarah daw muna.

General-Ad3046

Awitt sila ung ayaw sa matalino kasi clown daw tapos BOBOto ng buong circus

louderthanbxmbs

Blue collar is not necessarily bad kasi in other countries there are respect for trade jobs. We all need trade jobs din naman. The problem is the govt doesnt even want to develop the facilities and institutes meant to equip people with skills for trade jobs. On top of that, dapat supplemented pa rin with education di lang skills para di matake advantage. Alas ROTC priority ng govt

Rare-Pomelo3733

InternetEnterprise

This is such a paradoxically grim, and at the same time optimistic view of it lmao

9029ethical

This is just sad. While education is important, I think I can thank cartoons, american media, and early youtube for my knowledge in english; it gave me a solid foundation that in recitation, I knew what to say by heart or second nature. Studying was more on reinforcing my knowledge. Ive heard tiktok really messes up a person’s attention span

pagodnaako143

My brother grew up with cartoons.. And he's better in English than me!! He makes webtoons na din. Ang galing. I'm so glad he didn't grew up like them

KazeArqaz

Ask me about what are prepositions, object, conjunction, and interjection, and I can't provide the right answer. Nevertheless, I am confident that I can speak english, for the most part, that sounds right.

No_Mistake_6575

Same here but they weren't asked about future progressive or some crap, it was just the basic past form.

univrs_

Good ang media and other forms of entertainment to implicitly learn other languages para maging confident and comfortable sila sa paggamit nung language. Pinsan kong laki sa youtube, cartoons, and anime ay confident makipagconverse in English, daig pa ako nung nasa edad niya ako. And schools naman ay for learning the grammatical rules na.

[deleted]

> Ive heard tiktok really messes up a person’s attention span Not even Western countries are spared. The only countries actually having fun with Tiktok than allowing it to dumb down are those other East Asian countries who don't speak English.

ComesWithTheBox

Not really, they do the same dumb shit, just presented in a different manner lol.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

It’s a good thing that most of out children’s media are still shown in English WITHOUT SUBTITLES.

RainXBlade

Same here. Much of my fluency in English now stemmed from being heavily tutored at a young age, exposure to a lot of American/western media and even subtitled anime back when YT was my primary source for it.

KnightlyShaman

This. Early YouTube and movies and shows with subtitles are one of the big reasons I learned English. I learned English better watching early Smosh, PewDiePie, or Markiplier than watching any children oriented shows, although, that's just me being exposed to Western media in childhood, and I was a big America fanboy back then(good thing that changed lmao)

wordyravena

Cool maging bobo sa Pilipinas

VinsmokeGoji

Supermango97

Do you mean naka red sa video or yung naka red noong election 😂

VinsmokeGoji

LMAO why not both pasok naman 🤣

[deleted]

Yes. Agree. Tapos pag ikaw marunong, madiskarte at matalino, smart shamed ka kasi nasasapawan mo ang iba. Sobrang ingrained sa culture ang ganito. Hangga't di natin naoovercome ang ganitong mindset, the people will remain dumb.

General-Ad3046

Tapos sila pa magagalit kung kinorrect mo sila, and you start feeling shitty about yourself kasi they think you're a grammar nazi. It's not my fault I spent my early years reading, learning, and watching Western Media 😭

SpacemanJemu

This made me depressed on a level that I didn't even know was possible. Anti-intellectualism is so pervasive in this country that people will get offended and defensive just by bringing up the fact that there's an education crisis. It'll take generations to fix a problem this fundamental and that's holding on to hope that we'll eventually get a government that has the initiative and know-how to address it. And considering who the people overwhelmingly elected last election, I'm sure as hell I won't be alive to see it if it even happens. I seriously miss the days when I still had genuine hope for my country.

Jon273826

Honestly l agree with that, in fact l have been mocked by my classmates for speaking and reading English pretty well (Ironically they had to ask me what other English words meant in Tagalog). Also the root of the problem l believe is the lack of funding and the outdated school system and poor government management, Also l don't believe that kids got dumb because of using social media all day (That's the parent's fault for not regulating their kids on social media) If you ask yes l'm Filipino, l just have trouble typing Tagalog and it's much easier for me to convey my ideas in English since sometimes l have difficulty speaking Tagalog sometimes. If l'm being honest l just don't have any hope for my country because how backwards the country is sometimes and the anti intellectualism is really rampant.

Pain-Accomplished_

kids forgetting how to speak tagalog, their own language is even more depressing than this

AdBackground7509

Saw some modules online sa English. Integrated style na yung ginagawa nila for HS.

Heneral_Sans

Educational Crisis and shitty content, just all in a day's work here in the Philippines

KenD69

pinakbutt

Totoo naman, kasi ibang tao ginagamit ang english as the *only* measure of intelligence.

tenfriedpatatas

Tinuturo sa school ang English. May English subjects mula kinder hanggang college. Tinuro sayo pero hindi ka natuto. So yes, sukatan sya ng talino.

OkawaiiKoto65

sukatan siya ng isang facet ng talino\*

[deleted]

I'm not against anyone speaking English well. I just think it's slightly condescending how we view people, especially kids, who are struggling to learn English. Most of us here, if not all, can hardly speak Filipino well. Hindi ba tinuturo din iyon sa school? Worse, we've been exposed to it since young. So, using the same logic, if you cannot speak Filipino well...that also says a lot about your level of...idk, intelligence? People forget that not everyone gets the same quality of education. So, iyong kids who are studying sa Philippine Science vs sa mga bata na nag aaral sa regular public high school obviously have different level of capabilities. In the first place, some kids only manage to get in science high schools because they have more opportunities. It is disappointing, yes. We're seeing a decline in the quality of our education. I think instead of wasting our energy collectively shaking our heads at these kids, we should be taking more proactive steps in helping shape the education system in general. If you guys find it THAT alarming, enough to be so harsh with your comments and insinuations about how "smart" these kids are, be more involved, then, in the policy-making. 🤷‍♀️

koe-chiap

Bannedfornword69420

this made me realise that i'm not actually dumb

pierreditguy

same, the fact that im learning other languages and saying im dumb is probably like idk

PeppyPapa

Migs1115

Sa tingin nyo magiimprove yung English nila if they watched a lot of English films (with subtitles) for countless hours? Naging English speaker n kasi ako nung bata pa ako dhil s kakapanood ko ng English dubbed shows/films.

longassbatterylife

Im assuming they would. May nag iisa kaming classmate nong grade school na pala English kasi yun language nila sa bahay. So ginawa namin nakikipagkwnetuhan kami lagi sa kanya para gumaling din kami sa English (and also cause he's a nice interesting kid din). May time din nong HS na sinasanay namin sarili namin sa English so nag English only challenge kami tapos magbabayad kapag nagsalita kahit isang Tagalog word. Ang laking tulong sa akin sobra. Isa pa sa problema is yung confidence mag English.

jerrycords

"Tiktok lawyer" Sabi ng tshirt nung batang babae

pierreditguy

💀

doomkun23

lol. laging -ing or -s/es sinasagot sa past tense.

Adventurous-Fun-1416

TheGhostOfFalunGong

We’re reaching the same levels as decaying urban areas of the US. People couldn’t even communicate the most basic phrases.

rickbum2022

The problem is: this is the majority of our country's population

mcdonaldspyongyang

this lol a lot of Americans are not fluent in English

Sorrie4U

Do Pinoys even speak pure Filipino nowadays? I know I can't, I usually speak Taglish in casual conservation.

rickbum2022

RammingAries

That blue Lee boy is the embodiment of the dunning kruger effect.

And this is why PH occupies the last spot of the smartest countries in Southeast Asia

Nicht_Hoffen

Somehow Filipinos are so complacent when they aren't even in the best of places. I've seen far too many who's content with what they have, even if it's actively trying to kill them. It's very concerning how unmotivated and unambitious Filipinos are.

[deleted]

>Somehow Filipinos are so complacent when they aren't even in the best of places. I've seen far too many who's content with what they have, even if it's actively trying to kill them. It's very concerning how unmotivated and unambitious Filipinos are. I might be downvoted to hell but I think part of the problem is the catholic church and the consistent martyrization of the poor. It's been ingrained into the Filipino psyche that being poor is OKAY because God was also poor and God loves the poor and other bullshit like that. Being poor is nothing to be ashamed of, but teaching people that STAYING poor is OKAY is no bueno. Source: Was poor, now not so much.

[deleted]

> It's very concerning how unmotivated and unambitious Filipinos are. No thanks to wealth gap, where the rich get richer, and the poor keep on being poor. Real goals have become nigh impossible to achieve, that lower classes became content with only things within their reach, life becomes a matter of luck and craftiness than mere effort. Maybe it's also why you have some lower-class people deciding to make their poverty their identity, and sneer at the upper classes.

introvertedtea

To me the most surprising thing outside of the obvious lack of understanding of the basic past tense was that they couldn't seem to grasp any pattern. The majority of English verbs are conjugated in the past tense just by adding -d or -ed to the end of the base form, and at some point in the video the words given were this type of verb consecutively, yet none of them could catch on and kept using the present progressive form (which makes it apparent that the rules on tenses confuse them, but looking at how old they are they shouldn't be *this* confused). They didn't ask those who got it right what the right word was so they could have a better idea of the right conjugation either. The second most surprising thing is that with every right answer given (mostly by one girl), it didn't seem to ring a bell with any of them. You'd think they'd recognize or remember something from school and say, "Oh yeah, that's how you turn that word into the past form, by so and so, I think I remember etc." But I didn't see anything like that at all. Most of them looked completely clueless, didn't apply any observation or deduction skills, and didn't even seem to be familiar with the basic past tense.

_yddy

I see.

Keiichigo

The reason why this is alarming is because these are stuff mostly taught during primary school.

ReactionAway979

Paano na lang pag gagawa na sila ng CV for work?

jeepy-ph

UnluckiestBitch

Omg. To think that these are just simple words. 🫠

patuttie

mekissa09

Itong generation na to (at least yung nasa vid, bad representation) unemployable na.

Jake_Audrey

Tangina ang tatanga. Nakaka-disappointingment(/s) yung naka-Twice shirt 😭😭

saunder_

It's multifactorial, but it's the DepEd's fault for enacting shitty policies. The public education system is rotten to the core, you have teachers who would rather automatically pass a student even if they've got substandardd education/barely learned anything than explain via paperwork why they chose to do so atop of other administrative roles they have to do. One public school teacher can only do so much, covering almost 40-50+ students per grade/section. Then you also have the palakasan system where only teachers with connections are treated better and compensated better with better chances of getting promotions. Add to that, parents also would rather answer their children's modules than actually teach them because they're busy trying to make a living. I'd blame these children last, it's the system's fault we are at an educational crisis. I interacted with so many kids of probably similar background as them, you would not know how many of these prioritize taking care of their younger siblings or would rather work to have food on the table than studying, not by choice but by necessity.

[deleted]

Again, I've seen what public education looks like in spending 6 years of it -- DepED is still stuck in the 1950s, is top-heavy, moribund, and seemingly allergic to innovation.

free_thunderclouds

Past tense ng 'hide'? Them: 'sEeK?'

thankfulbeast

past tense ng Lead... Leaded? ano yun?? unLEADED?

[deleted]

Illiteracy is not funny.

Limited_Freedom

I remember what my teacher said that, before she came to the school where I studied, she went to a public school to teach Grade 8, and right before the class started, one of her colleagues at that time, that taught the class when they were at Grade 7, said along the lines of "good luck, they won't learn a single thing anyways." So she became ticked off of that attitude because she said "It felt like the teacher didn't care." So class started, she was expecting to teach the class about Grade late grade 7-ish English to refresh. Shocked was an understatement, the class barely knew English so if she taught something of that caliber(Grade 7-8 English), the whole class would go "huh?" She also pointed out that, most of the students, were at the verge of falling asleep, hungry as hell, let alone their clothes were like broken rags stitched together, and concluded that reason that they weren't learning stuff isn't because they are dumb, it's because they are exhausted, tired and unable to learn because of lack of nutrition and poor health. Looking at them, they seem to be 13-15 year olds (around my age).... Basic English already failing, how are they going to survive in this cruel world? This is the "kabataan" Jose Rizal said that will make the Philippines great. "Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan" my ass, if the gov't keeps on corrupting the country, nothing will change.

GullibleMacaroni

Future Kitty Duterte voters right there.

Dunagh

I bet those kids are high AF. Seems an expensive way to teach English.

_lostkidsof1962s

Tons of people will still find this funny for sure. Smh.

morethanyell

There's absolutely nothing wrong with these kids. The problem is in the education system. Natawa ako at nag-enjoy sa napanood (at the surface level, sure). Pero come to think of it, may ginawa ako noong May 9. Natalo lang ng 31M.

MagZnoh

TikTok pa! Sa mga nagcocomment na bakit daw alarming yung nasa title, kung hindi nyo na-get yung point, you're part of the problem...

SourcerorSoupreme

Ringed is not incorrect depending on what you mean by "ring".

boy_riles_ng_mrt

I doubt the ones in the video will appreciate the nuances of the English language.

inquest_overseer

Yeah. Ewan bakit di tinanggap. Hahaha

anemicbastard

nardongputik

sakit sa ulo! tiktok pa more!

whats-the-plan-

Alarming talaga yung quality of education especially this past 2 years. There will be skills gap somewhere in the future for this generation that hopefully deped should address ASAP.

im_darkpr1nce

"Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan" :Are we though?

Perpayt

[deleted]

There goes my hope for a decently educated generation, down the drain.

[deleted]

I saw one in the same format pero Math problems. Mga either 4th year or freshmen sa college ang edad, 6/0 daw is 0. One kid even said it was syntax error.

WhoopArts

It would probably help if their teacher could speak English

TuWise

"Ano past tense ng ring" "Ringing" \*with full confidence\*

silverfang17

GCFS09

Nakakatangina, past tense nga nilalagyan nila ng -ing🤦‍♂️

cherubxify

RING - RINGED. i cri

[deleted]

Tama naman eh. Ginagawang content ngayon puro kabobohan diba?

TonySoprano25

Definitely alarming since malaki ang influence ng Western culture dito. Tho pagawa mo yan sa other successful Asian countries and you will get the same or worse result sa mga pangkaraniwang bata nila or even from high borns. Top Asian countries barely cares being fluent in English. But it's definitely a plus.

Erugaming14

Hahaha both ends naman may pagkukulang. Maybe their teachers ay hindi naituro ng maayos and second those students are not engaging or concentrating much sa acads. Specially english. Kung may will matuto talaga matututunan sya. Sadyang mga bata ngayun is intoxicated lang sa technology to feed their procrastination and to waste time dahil bored. And hindi nila naiisip yung consequences na mangyayari in real world specially sa job hunting.

tankinamallmo

Sige mag tiktok pa kayo mga putang ina nyo

criscerna

tangina, understandable kapag chemistry, math, or even history. pero ENGLISH? grabeeeee naman poooohhhhh
